I really thought this movie was going somewhere but the story had a lot of holes and nothing really happened. Looks great and had a lot of potential but the ending is what really ruined it for me. Heath was great for what parts he was in and I’m happy the other actors could step in to finish the movie but maybe they should have rewritten some parts.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Terry Gilliam shows his ability to write an engaging story with unpredictable twists and turns. The actors can act, the special effects work to provide sufficient but not overdone eye-candy, and the story feels like it came from a classic novel or a well-known fairy tale (The Brothers Grimm on a particularly grim tear).
The story is the main draw. It's bright as the morning star and packed with Gilliam's own imagination. There's no place in the imaginations of the main characters that it won’t go, and it's always two steps ahead of the viewer. The plotting is tight and energetic, going helter-skelter when it makes sense and converging to a needle-point when demanded. See it on the big screen. Not appropriate for under 12.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

do not expect any old tales to be reworked. The story is about deals with a compassionate devil. I had one ah ha moment and did walk away with a sense of closure to the story.
More so this was beautiful art the costumes the cast the makeup and the computer animation are all beyond expectations. It was a delight to watch and try and take in all the suble details.
Definately think twice about taking small children I would not suggest having anyone under 12 see it because it is so realistic and at times violent and the images frightening. A great movie for adults.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Odd but fun, strange and beautiful. Mr. Gilliam creates a world of wonder and mystery. Thanks to friends of Heath, it is a haunting tribute.

It was not quite what I expected being set in present day, but I understand how it fit in the plot. Overall the acting was very good and use of Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Ferrel was indeed clever. The special effects were quite good, however the plot seemed to drag painfully at times. Based on the creativity and unique imagery I would recommend this on a rental basis.

After seeing this movie I was amazed the graphics were impeccable the actors were astonishing and the plot blew me away. The only disappointment was how small the theatre was that it was playing in.

This movie is worth seeing. The big actors do well in this movie, especially Ledger. But the entire cast of actors do a great job as well. Don't see this movie if you only like straightforward blockbusters.

The images are major Terry Gilliam, and so is the story. The storyline could be stronger and clearer. It was a joy to see Heath Leger, and his three friends fill in for him. The great Christopher Plummer is always wonderful.

A poorly told story should not be accepted as a guise for genius. I have found Mr. Gilliams stories obtuse in the past, as his stories have had enough interesting characters in it to sustain disbelief. Unfortunately this movie does not cut the mustard. The visuals are of course wonderful. Perhaps Mr. Gilliam would be better suited as an art director on films rather than a storyteller.

Heath Ledger for the limited amount of time he is in the movie is brilliant. Otherwise, cheesy special effects, confusing storyline. And worse of all a very muddy soundtrack. Definitely not one of Gilliam's best.

This movie at times can be like a Salvador Dali painting come to life. It is visually stunning but it also requires having an open mind to enjoy the film. I already knew from the director to expect an unusual film. The plot was not as strong and only comes to make sense towards the last half of the movie. Therefore if you are a patient person and have an open mind, I would suggest watching it for the simple fact that it is out of the ordinary. However it is not a movie that I would recommend for everyone.

A wonderful tale of good and evil told through the mind of Terry Gillium. Everyone is in their element for this show, which explores the depths of the mind and heart while keeping a simple premise. Great use of visuals and locations as we wander from the streets into the imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus' mind, played excellently by Christopher Plummer. The use of Depp, Farrel, and Law don't distract from the overall story and add more depth into the character, never sure of what he's done or where he has been. A wonderful treat for the eyes, ears and mind if your willing to take the ride.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is what Gilliam has been practicing his whole career for. A classic film but finally on the full scale production value that his films deserve. His other films are classics, but it always seemed he had to make up for in imagination what he lacked in financial backing. That isn't a bad thing, it makes you even more creative. His films are challenging and never got a full chance. The closest he came before was maybe with Brazil. With Imaginarium he has finally been given the chance to show us his full potential at putting his maximalist imagination on screen and he has made a classic. He also took the unfortunate situation of Ledger dying and turned it into an ingenius tool for making the film even more interesting. Thanks!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

this movie puts you into a strange, dreamy sometimes nightmarish world. the touring stage is an old, rickety horse drawn buggy that somehow has room for all their props and be their home. the first half was brighter and funnier, then it gets darker and many things don't make sense. impact from losing ledger affected the fun aspect. depp and law are good standins. farrell not so much.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was intrigued by how they would complete the movie after Heath Ledger, one of the main characters of the film, passed away in the middle of shooting. I can only say that they did a really wonderful job to honor Heath and his fans and still make the movie make sense through a little minor rewriting and ingenuity. This dark tale of good vs. evil is very much in the spirit of Terry Giliam's earlier films as he creates a world of mystery and illusion. It's definitely a film that would have looked incredible had it been shot in 3D. Christopher Plummer should receive an academy award nomination for his performance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
