I have to disagree with the critics. This is a very entertaining movie. The plot is exciting, the acting is good, the pacing is well done, the cinematography is excellent, and the dialog is appropriate. This movie is never going to be considered for an Academy Award, and I think the critics have converged on using that as their sole criterion, which is why there is such a discrepancy between the critical reviews and the user reviews. If you want to have fun and see a great action flick, go see Law Abiding Citizen. If you want to see something that will provoke deep thought and serve as the basis for your master's thesis on filmmaking, stay away.

This movie was disturbing at the beginning, but truly keeps the viewer on the edge of the seat waiting for the next execution or explosion all the way upto the end. Foxx and Butler both carried off Oscar-quality performances. Great supporting cast.

Next to "Ray" and "The Kingdom" this is Jamie Foxx's best acting yet!! Jamie Foxx plays assistant DA Nick Rice who has a 96% conviction rate. When a home invasion gone bad lands the 2 criminals in Jamie's hands, it's his office that is able to get one of the criminals to testify against the other for a lighter sentence. When the grieving father/widower Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is informed of the latest deal, on the surface he seems to accept it, but deep down he does not. The story unfolds from there... "Law Abiding Citizen" has lots of action, constant twists, turns, intrigue and best of all great cinematography. Suprisingly it's not predictable. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
