I really liked the movie. I did not figure out how the prisoner was doing everything until it was revealed in the movie. I felt the movie was smart. I did not like the ending though. I found myself on he side of the bad guy. I wished him well. I think the ending was sad..... He did change the system when he changed the new DA (FOXX). I think the plot was well meant,

Well conceived mind game with intellectually superior protagonist wronged by a flawed justice system. Highly suspenseful, with great action sequences as justice is rendered upon those deserving and undeserving. 10 Years is a long time to prepare, with apparently sufficient motivation for Gerard Butler's well played character. The Assistant DA is skillfully characterized by Jamie Foxx. An excellent supporting cast rounds out this 5 star production.

Concept was good (man fights an unfair justice system HIS way) if only the story did not become just way too far fetched and full of plot holes big enough to drive a truck through. When one man can construct a tunnel almost the complexity of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, I think Hollywood has gone too far.

I have seen Gerard Butler in numerous movies from Phantom to chick flicks, but he shows what a powerful actor he is in this gripping performance! Foxx also shines as Butler's adversary. This one kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Superbly acted and a solid story-line combine for an excellent film. Be warned that some of violence is very brutal, so those who are sensitive to torture or blood baths should take this into consideration.

This is one of the best films I have seen in years. As a law enforcement officer with 17 years on the job, I live this scenario daily. When the DA is called out for not trying a case and making a deal to keep his stats high it hits close to home! Then the DA blames the cops! This movie had me torn between what is right and what it rightous! Excellent film, well acted and I highly recommend it!

I really did like this movie - it was very interesting, and the plot was somewhat original. It did get a little silly and far fetched at the end, but what movie doesnt nowadays. It's definitely worth seeing, and prepare yourself for some gruesome violence!

I've been seeing a lot of movies that were at the time, prospects to being great movies, but lately, seems I always walk out disappointed. When I watched Law Abiding Citizen, through the whole movie, I could not once figure out how things worked, and how the main character did everything by himself. I admit first that I'm a die-hard Gerry Butler fan. The promos were fascinating and roped me right in. This was such a departure for Gerry; a true anti-hero that you still want to root for. I loved everything about this movie except the ending. I get so tired of seeing Gerry die at the end of his movies. Jamie Foxx was, as someone else noted, wooden and so out of touch with his family it was a stretch to even pretend that they were a family. I loved the device of a secret tunnel and "workshop" right under the prison. As they say, revenge is a dish best served cold. this one must have been delicious!

Once again Gerard Butler did a fantastic job, I always love his work. I honestly just went to see him... And not Jamie Fox... The movie moved too fast, through the important heart breaking moments, which were when they had killed Gerard's family... I would of enjoyed more story-line from his family and how did he actually got the courage to seek revenge... There were some great parts that were made really good, and they were just mind blowing... Jamie's Fox acting sucked just like him... They should of put Denzel instead of Jamie, but oh well.. His acting was so fake, he treated his family cold and I saw no Love for either his wife or daughter in the movie.. Overall the movie was ok, but not AMUSINGLYGREAT like the other reviewers say...

Interesting film that keeps you guessing ... There is some violence but it flows with the movie so it isn't unnecessary blood just to be there... Go see this movie!

This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very end. Thought it is gruesome in places, it is not gratuitously so as it fits the flow of the movie. One of the more fantastic leaps of faith a viewer must make is the tunnel dug into the isolation cells -- how did he to do that without arousing any notice? Besides that, it is a wholly believable story. Highly recommended.
