Premise was interesting. Balance between the cerebral and "action movie" jarring. Worked best for me when all three levels of reality were working at the same time and they all had there own pace and rhythm. This is when the editing was at it's best. No need for so many shoot out sequences. Cheapened the overall impact. great cast with exception of Ellen Page didn't have the weight for me. Not believable. Leo up to his usually bag of expressions and limited emotions. Visually very compelling.

It's been a while since I've had the pleasure of watching a film that I haven't had the plot figured out by the previews. I also, haven't watched a movie in years that kept me guessing until the end, and then gave me a twist so that either of the two outcomes are possible without it having a sequal. I loved this movie because it wasn't just a bunch of blah with big name actors. There are some people who won't like this movie because they don't like to think about what is happening, they just like a story to unfold before them revealing all the little details. I assure you, this isn't one. I can't necessarily say it's not complicated to figure out, because for some it may be, but I will say this: I took my little sister-in-law to see this with me and, although I usually don't talk during movies, we were bouncing ideas off each other during the movie, so I wouldn't recommend seeing it alone or going with someone who will give up on the plot while you are trying to figure it out. I will definitely see this again, and probably buy it the day it comes out.

Just a bunch of unrelated scenes cut together to fill up the allotted time. Also the sound effects overwhelm the dialog. Some of the characters speak with a horrible accent - I wasn't sure if they were speaking English. Definitely NOT RECCOMMENDED!!!

The story premise is about using layered, engineered 'realities' to change the corporate power structure of the world. The shifting from contrived reality to contrived reality was confusing. The viewer doesn't receive enough of the back story in the beginning of the movie to have a sense of why all of the characters are willingly involved in such a convoluted and dangerous method of changing things.

It's hard to write an adequate review of a movie such as INCEPTION without giving something away... Let's just say Chris Nolan picks up where the Wachowski brothers left off (or should have after the 1st MATRIX film).
This movie delivers on all levels of entertainment; action, suspense, intrigue, romance... all within a question inside a mystery wrapped in an enigma.
DiCaprio gives a multi-dimensional and Oscar worthy performance yet again as Cobb the master dream navigator who hides a dark secret from the rest of the cast that could quite possibly place them all in mortal danger. He is supported by an amazing ensemble of talent that expertly movies the plot along in such a way that you don't realize that you have just sat through a 3 hour movie.
Writer/Director Chris Nolan (THE DARK KNIGHT) has woven a tapestry of enigmatic proportions with an amazing science fiction story with the caveat of be careful what you wish for and the the best laid plans ideology.
I went into the theatre not having done much research about the film nor it's back story so I didn't have any expectations... but even if I had it would have exceeded them immensely. Quite possibly the best movie I have seen all year...

In my opinion, Inception is the best movie in it's genre since The Matrix. The storyline was great, the special effects were fantastic and the cliff-hanger ending left you praying for a sequel! You may need to stay focused for the first half hour but then let the rest take you on a wild ride.

My Friends and wife loved the movie. So many people are planning on going again. I dont think I liked the movie so much. Its good for a one-time watch, but not necessarily in a theatre. There is a lot of suspense and action in this movie - but no ending. If you like a story with a beginning, middle and end, don't go. The movie just stops without resolving whether the characters succeed or fail.

Does anyone remember the fairytale "The Emperor's New Clothes? Well, that 's what this movie is.......alot of hype about how great it is......and most people go long with saying that despite the fact that it doesnt measure up to what they were led to believe it to be. In the above fairytale a few people finally tell the truth that there is nothing to see.. Please!!! Much ado about not very much. Another macho chase and kill movie, but no real depth of character nor the psyche. A well crafted filim would have some clarity rather than just one chase scene after another with a few clever scenes of folding realities onto another. This was no Memento and this was no dream, it was two and a half hours of an ongoing nightmare , with a hand full of clever ideas that could have made for an interesting movie had those been developed.

Really? Dream levels? Wow. Who would have thought about that? Maybe Dante? Maybe Nietschke? Maybe Da Vinci? At least theirs made sense. I enjoy slow motion, but a whole movie with nothing but slow motion, put me to sleep. I didn't care about any of the characters because I didn't know anything about them. So after about 10 minutes, I just didn't care. If you want to watch a movie about Dream invasion, watch Dreamscape with Dennis Quaid. At least they understood that if it's YOUR DREAM, you can control it. I hope Hollywood goes back to making musicals, they don't have to make sense and they limit slow mo to scenes where it's needed.

I can't say much more than that.
I mean, you got great performances by Leonardo DiCaprio (not surprise that he does a good movie) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and supporting actress Ellen Page of "Juno" fame.
But, seriously, Leonardo DiCaprio needs an Oscar for this movie. The movie itself should win every Oscar category. Except Best Original Song since I could not recall an original song in the movie.
There is absolutely NOTHING you can find wrong with this film. Except that it is VERY hard to follow, as many people have said. I, myself, had to look some things up just to get a better understanding of the movie.
The basic plot is Leo plays this guy who breaks into peoples dreams and steals ideas from their subconscious. His backstory is that his wife is dead and the American authorities think he did it. So he lives in... I don't think it was mentioned where he was living. But it was outside America. But now he has a chance to have his name cleared if he can do one thing: Inception.
Inception means to plant an idea in someone's mind, rather than steal one from their mind, which is extraction. Leonardo DiCaprio hires a college architect named Ariadne from a college where his father-in-law Miles teaches.
So, Leo has Ariadne basically build the world of the dream of the man whose mind they will plant an idea inside: an oil company heir named Robert Fischer Jr.
During the dream sequence(s) which, yes, lasts most of the remainder of the film, something goes wrong. I'm not telling. You won't get me to spoil it for you. You'll have to sit through the two-and-a-half hours of it. But, believe me, it's a good two-and-a-half hours. At least the best two-and-a-half hours I've had.
Overall Grade: 92%

Twists and turns, great suspension of disbelief. This film delivers. Comparisons to other movies like the Matrix fail. Only in recent years (Aviator, Blood Diamond, etc.) has DiCaprio shown real depth and promise as a mature actor in my opinion. Well cast and worth seeing again. This is a movie for the mind more than special FX for the eyes. What a great change from the general crud churned out.

Yes, the concept was freshingly different from so many of today's movies which leave you feeling deja vu. The action was intense. Trying to bend your own mind around the theme of creating levels of dreamscapes and keeping up with those levels could be confusing, you just have to pay very close attention to detail while watching this movie. I like movies that stimulate my own brain function rather than numbing my mind.

Inception was a matrix rip-off that failed to deliver. I loved the plot behind the Matrix but the plot line behind Inception was like a car driven by 6 year old, all over the place and very hard to follow. Special effects were just okay, nothing new. My wife and I were both disapointed but thought maybe if we saw it a few more times we MIGHT be able to sort out the story line... MIGHT.

Great movie. I loved it. Especially when they kept going from the inside of the van to that hotel hallway. Everytime the van the van swayed, they moved in the same fashion in the hallway.

Inception was trying to be a deep psychological thriller; instead it was confusing, used cheap tricks and was a woosie script. I wouldn't waste my time going to this movie. There are many better ones out there. The ONLY thing drawing people to this movie is the name of Leonardo DiCaprio and he certainly lowered his standards on this one.

Inception defies comparison and category but one thing's for sure. You won;t ever be able to look at any action thriller the same again

This movie was pretty much ok overall. I watched it after mindlessly enjoying 'Salt' so I wasn't prepared for the complexity and depth. I kept feeling like I'd have to watch the movie multiple times in order to get the full benefit of completely following each line and how it fit into the plot development. At 2 1/2 hours, its difficult to commit to more than twice. It actually made me a bit tired of trying to follow and make it make sense in my paid theater viewing.. The special effects were top shelf. The acting well respectable. You have to love movies in the Matrix line to get the value out of this movie
