This movie reminded me of films like Dark City and The Matrix . Thankfully, it's original enough in its own right to be highly entertaining and intriguing. I will need to see it again to try and understand some of the plot layers (dreams within dreams within dreams?). However, it was good enough for me to consider seeing it again a positive. You'll only be disappointed if go into it hoping for a typical light-on-story-heavy-on-explosions summer movie. You will have to think constantly and stay in y our seat to keep up with the story. Skip the soda for this one!

Oh My Gosh!! Talk about an "Exhilarating Roller Coaster Ride" for your brain. That's what "Inception" is. This is the best Sci-Fi Thriller I have seen in a long time. As close to mind blowing as The Matrix was. Made me think and have intense dreams. It had its issues though with watching people sleep made me want to sleep and long drawn out sequences that could of been shorter.

Inception shows that an original idea is still possible in Hollywood. Films don't have to be regurgitations of the same, stock story lines... they can have meaning and depth and still be appealing and adventurous The cast is perfect, the score is amazing, and the directing is second to none. Do yourself a favor and see this movie. You'll be amazed at what a real director with serious actors can do with a story as original and creative as Inception. Just don't go expecting to be spoon-fed the plot and hit over the head with thematic explanations. This is one you'll have to think about.

It is always good to see a movie out of the ordinary, and Inception is one of them. Granted, there is a little bit Matrix-ish in it, but I believe Nolan did a great job at trying to explain how dreams - and the mind - work. The cast was very good, new faces and good old ones. DiCaprio is awesome but he's got the same part in the past 5-6 movies, right? The sound is great and the images and picture in the movie are absolutely fantastic. I will see it again! (Some details were out of my hand haha)

Might get lost in the beginning but it certainly picks up and sweeps you up in the story. Excellent plot, excellent scenes, and excellent ending. Everything i expected was surpassed. If you dont really pay attention though you can get lost quick.

Unbelievable effects, crazy and confusing storyline but it all comes together eventually. Perfect ending. I'm going to see it again. It was that good. All the actors they chose for each role were a perfect fit. Joseph Gordon- Levitt? Such a random choice for this but he was great. Someone will win an Oscar for this. Last night we traveled to Aventura to see Inception at the IMAX theatre. Aventura provides the benefit of a nice dinner before the show because of the many wonderful restaurants available to the public.
We selected Rosalia, an Italian restaurant accessible both from inside the mall as well as from the courtyard where AMC theatres are located.
From the start, this movie captured our imagination and as we did our morning walk today, we could talk of nothing else. The premise is people that learn to tap into their minds, utilizing the subconscious to recreate reality at different levels.
What is new about this? We all dream, we are all capable of escaping reality by focusing on memories of the past, or returning to places we liked, where we felt safe. But in this movie, the experience is shared with others and learning about another person’s mind and how they think, sometimes planting an idea that turns the other person’s life into the reality of our choosing is new.
We are able to experience these shared dreams through the power of film, but we come to understand that these people simply go into a trance of sorts, into a powerful recreation of a certain reality that they are able to share as a team.
An architect is required, a person that builds a certain reality, shares it with the team for understanding and they go off, together, to experience highly emotional and philosophical escapes.
Arthur played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dom Cobb masterfully played by Leonardo DiCaprio join to steal ideas for clients from the minds of their competitors. But as with all things, times are hard and Mr. Cobb becomes estranged from his family. Saito, played by Ken Watanabe, hires Cobb to get to Fischer, played by Cillian Murphy. The purpose is to plant an idea in the mind of this powerful businessman.
Without giving the plot away, it gets so complicated that Cobb requires fresh talent and they hire an architecture student played by Ellen Page, a chemist, played by Dileep Rao and a forger played by Tom Hardy who designs the most incredible of experiences.
To be perfectly honest, we could not hear everything that was said because the sound track overpowers voices but plan to acquire the DVD and with the tool of subtitles see this movie again to fully grasp the dialogue.
Our minds are our greatest asset and few if any have tapped into its full potential. So, as we watched the movie we concluded that there are endless possibilities of what we can do if we focus on the development of our minds.
In the end, we rated this movie with a simple word: Awesome!

Very solid Christopher Nolan film, very clear he is a master of his style as it shines through every moment of the film. The ideas were complex but engaging, and the action quite fun. My only issues were with a few script constructions (dialogue in some spots, but lots of movies have this problem) and the movie could have been 30 minutes shorter. Mr. Nolan is terrific with suspense, but there is perhaps too much as I found it a little dull after a while. Regardless, still a good film and definitely worth seeing.

The movie is about 45 minutes longer than necessary. The level of complication is silly. The level of explanation is insulting. what is the point of making a movie with a complicated premise - implying some respect for your audience and then spending endless minutes (hours?) explaining it to us in minute detail. We get it. It wasn't that hard!
The acting is what it is, but it's a shame to see some fine actors wasted. Does Michael Caine need this cameo? Ellen Page can actually act - why not give her something to work with?
Yes, there's lots of action sequences. Some of it's fun, although there are precious few fun moments. If it was severely cut down it could make a summer movie worth seeing.

Overall it's a good movie. It could have been great, if the director was focused more on going deep into the story and and dream dimensions instead of please and entertain the viewers. Go see it - but watch with an open, not critical mind. This movie did its job exceptionally well: the audience couldn't look away for the whole 2+ hours, and despite the complex concept it wasn't impossible to follow (a la Momento). This movie was very well made. Great acting, writing, and direction. Also, this movie had some really good ideas. So why not 5 stars? There are 2 flaws with this movie that keep it from being great. First, you really don't have an emotional investment with the characters, making the film a bit cold. Second, while the film has some really good ideas, it doesn't use them to there full potential. Overall, this a movie you really admire, appreciate, and respect. I will watch it again and probably buy it.

The movie was excellent--acting, visuals, script, all came together well. Given the nature of the plot, it was a bit difficult to follow, and I was left with a lot of questions. If you don't mind having to *think* about a movie, this one is for you! It could have been a tad shorter for me. Overall, 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.

"Inception" is intellectually complex, both with complicated concepts and layering, and it challenges the audience to focus on each caveat of the storyline. DiCaprio delivers a strong performance, although I found his character too much like the one in "Shutter Island," which left me cold. Don't blink during this movie or you will be totally lost. Special effects are compelling, the acting is strong. This is not a movie for a lazy brain. The movie goer should be prepared to immerse himself into this film and accept the possibilities of the inception theory, or he will walk away confused and frustrated.

Very little can be said about this movie before watching it. Simply go see it. If you want to see what the guy who made Memento can do with his own story on a $150m budget, go see this.

I saw Inception on opening day. I think that the first thing I heard as the credits started running sums up the experience: "what the &!*#??"
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom, an expert at getting inside of peoples' minds (through dreaming) and stealing their secrets (known as extraction). He has a team who help him with this, and his clients are often leaders of some of the largest and wealthiest corporations on Earth. Ken Wanatabe plays one of those leaders. But what he wants isn't an extraction, it's an inception, in which an idea is planted in the subconscious of the targeted person. Some on the team say it can't be done, but Dom moves the team forward on this mission--despite the incredible danger it holds for them all.
Inception plays with space, time and matter in ways we've never seen before. It is not science fiction in the way of spaceships and alien creatures, but of the mind and its incredible powers. The visual effects are quite amazing, especially when the world is turned upside down (or sideways). The action in the film is quite intense and some sequences had people in the theatre with me on the edge of their seats--quite literally! One toward the end especially is a real mind-blower (in more ways than one).
My complaint is that the concept and the story are so complex that, even with total concentration on the screen, I found it difficult (nearly impossible at times) to keep up. I know I wasn't the only one in this situation, because I heard a lot of murmuring among the packed crowd to the tune of "What the hell just happened?" Several few people got up and left as I think they just gave up on trying to "get it."
I think if you looked up the word "mind$$$$" in the dictionary (if it WAS in the dictionary), there would be a picture of the Inception poster next to it. If that sounds like mad fun to you, then this is definitely your film. If it all sounds like too much work, then you may want to pick another movie.
I liked it...I enjoyed the hell out of the effects, the action and most of the puzzle. Maybe in a day or a week I will feel differently. But right now, I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Taking off 1 for going just a little too far.
