LOVED IT. The woman sitting next to me was actually sitting on the edge of her seat with her head resting on her hands. Talk about mezmorizing. This movie never stopped! Made you walk away thinking WTF? I thought about the plot all night and finally figured out the ending. Hallelujah! SEE IT.

There are very few times that a movie leaves an imprint in my mind. This is one of those few times. It starts a little slow but it is wholly enjoyable. It only asks you to try and keep up with the multiple levels happening at the same time and I did not find it difficult to do so. Once it was over I wanted to watch it again. Its a great movie, anyone interested in a sci-fi thriller that engages you throughout should definitely see this.

Psychological thriller kept me on the edge of my seat. Unpredictable. Writing and editing are both very tight. Good performances by Watanable, Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard. Ellen Page is fine, but doesn't have enough to work with (or doesn't do enough with it) and DiCaprio is acceptable.

This movie was very confusing at first, but definately came together. You can't get up to go to the bathroom or you just might miss out on a crucial piece of the puzzle. Give yourself plenty of time because this is a long and exhausting movie.

Save yourself the money. Go rent any of the Matrix movies. Same concept and the action is just as good. Absolutely nothing new here and the first half hour is not a hook, it's why people fall asleep. Way too convoluted. If Nolan wants to plant a question, then get to it in the first 5 minutes and then get the story going. Plus there are so many inconsistencies including the main one which is, if you KNOW you're dreaming, then why do you give an F that you're being shot at? Now let's talk about the Van. The bad guys throw about a zillion bullets through that thing all told for about 15 minutes of the film and only one dude gets shot....ONCE. Then it takes 30 minutes at the end of the film for the van to fall off a bridge and hit the water! 30 MINUTES! That's why people fall asleep! And let's not even talk about snow skiing. It totally lost me right there. Suddenly it's "Ice Station Zebra." (A really old movie that's twice as good as this one.) Inception is way over the top in every way possible especially in trying to be more-intelligent-than-thou. YUK.

During the summer, I've come to expect big, flashy, special effect-laden superhero movies, with a comic-book plot. If you ignore the hype about Inception's "deep and profound" reviews, you won't be disappointed. The story is actually very simple, told in a very complicated way. It didn't bother me. I didn't walk out thinking this was really "mind-blowing" but rather, "that was sort of a fun roller coaster ride" I never expected it to be more than a summer movie. What I found refreshing about it, was this it wasn't good versus evil or a typical comic-book story. And it's probably best too not read too much about the story before you go in. Yes, it is sappy. Yes, it's overacted in parts. Yes, its quite ridiculous when you stop and map it out. But I enjoyed the storytelling. The worst part of the film for me, was the last 5 seconds: as it was totally unnecessary, but overall I'd recommend this to friends.

Proof that special-effects films need not have two-dimensional plots and characters. I love a movie that is visually amazing and still requires me to think. I was involved enough, and the story was rewarding enough, that I didn't mind having to work my brain for two and a half hours. If there was a fault, it would be that, while I liked the characters, I was never really invested in them. Ellen Page seemed particularly out of her depth.

Absolutely awesome! People in the theater with us clapped and everyone was talking about it as we walked out. My family and I discussed it the whole way home and we all want to see it again! Great performances by Leo and Ellen and the man who played Sato.

I'm not going to really review Inception. There's not a lot to add that hasn't already been said: Great flick, smart, and visually stunning. I like Chris Nolan, so, that was expected. What I'd like to talk about is the audience reaction to the last shot in the movie:
*Spoilers*
Cobb spins the top. It's spinning for some time, and just as it may begin to wobble, the screen cuts to black. And the audience, to a person, yells "awww!"
What's amazing isn't the smart, heart wrenching storytelling, or the amazing visuals or effects , its 1) the fact that the studios took a chance on this picture, even with Chris Nolan and 2) the audience really got it. They did. And that's great.
You can argue that after "The Dark Knight's" billion dollar plus world wide payday, Nolan could more or less film himself in the water closet, straining for two hours, and the studios say "yeah, okay, send it out." That's a possibility. But, honestly, the fact that, despite all of Hollywood's talk about "Joe Six Pack" living in the Midwest, despite all of the cynicism about the short attention span and limited IQ of the American public, the audience gets it. The audience gets it, and that's great.
You know, yes, you can argue about "Matrix's b*st*rd son" or the very literal nature of the dream worlds, but, for all of that, with 21 some million on the first day, people are getting it. And that's just cool.
So, yeah, I loved the movie, yeah. And yeah, I love that the studio's made it, but what makes me happier, is that so many people got it, and loved it. So, I'm a big fan.

Its funny that the kids are dressed in exactly the same clothes, at exactly the same age, in exactly the same position as when he left, huh? Things that make you go "Hmmm..."

This is the first time in a very long time that I've walked out of a movie thinking I got my money's worth and that I REALLY LOVED THE MOVIE. This movie is definitely for people who think outside the box. Anyone who falls asleep or says they are bored with the movie "just doesn't get it." But if you "get it" you will be hooked.
If you loved the Matrix, you'll enjoy Inception.
Don't get up to go to the bathroom though. Get your snacks and everything BEFORE the movie. There is not a moment in the movie where there isn't SOMETHING important happening and some sort of action.

This movie was incredible. Well worth the $10 show price. I've heard it is hard to follow and multiple viewings are necessary to get it all, but I did not find that to be the case. The movie makers are great at telling you how to follow the movie throughout the dialog. The acting was fantastic, Leonardo DiCaprio was brilliant as he has been of late. The supporting cast was brilliant as well. The casting director did a good job on the talent. The special effects were supurb and well done. Nothing was gratuitous. You do not want to miss this movie. I will be purchasing it when it comes out on video. Do not be surprised if there are some Academy Awards out of this one. Left me on the edg of my seat. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Definitely give it all five stars!!!!

This movie is pure intelligence and fantastic. It is original, comedic at times and most defintely grips the audience and keeps their attention. All the actors were cast perfectly, especially Levitt and Dicaprio--of course. The cinematography was oscar worthy along with the screenplay that took Nolan 8 years to write it. I've seen this film twice and definitely plan to see it more. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FILM! Hands down, best film of the year.

It's not often that you come across a movie that has a very original story line. This movie not only has that but amazing effects, a great cast, and contains aspects of dreams that I think we can all relate to (physical paradoxes, floating in the air, dreaming a lot in a short period of time, etc.). If you are a fan of Nolan, you may also be happy to see appearances from Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy. DiCaprio was absolutely amazing in it. Some say the story line was too complicated. It isn't. You just need to pay attention and use your mind, get involved, and it will all be clear.

Those that do not like this move most likely could not keep up with it. It challenges you, it stretches your mind and it delivers and incredible experience which is what most movies these days fail to do. Plot, sub-plot, sub-sub plot and beyond - this movie defines creativity and originality and is easily the best movie of the summer, the year and beyond.

We reimagined "Inception," my husband and I, as we exited the theater one and a quarter hours into the movie. We thought: perhaps different casting, such as Russell Crowe or Harrison Ford in the lead, perhaps a screenplay written by someone like the late Michael Crichton... Amidst all the rapidly evolving visuals, we disliked the writer who, like a deus ex machina, dispensed with suspense,etc.and dictated the plot to the audience with one contrivance after another. The quest plot and standard mythological plot points were brought to cinema by writers drinking deep from the Joseph Campbell spring, and the spring has been drunk dry. Movies relying on it are self-referential now to other Campbell-inspired movies. Our minds feel starved for some "real frogs" in their "imaginary ponds." The ostensible challenge, if one could believe the critics, was for the audience member to stay with the story of dreams and mazes. Like "Memento," apparently this can be very entertaining tp some moviegoers. My husband and I walked out of "Memento" too. Still, it crossed my mind that I would have found Page much more interesting playing the Mal role and Mal (Cotillard) playing Page's role. Cast this way, Page would have been more believably Mal, and the dream architect less boringly wonky, an especially important change, since the latter occupies so much screen time. As protagonist, Leonardo di Caprio's is too lightweight for this dark,complex character. In his effort to play the "baritone" rather than his natural range of "tenor," he seems to work overmuch to compensate for miscasting. He makes acting look like hard work. He does not look right or sound right for the "hero" or person on a quest. Baby face and light voice are just the beginning of the challenges he works so hard to overcome. But he never arrives at the nuanced behavior of the man of paradoxes he is supposed to embody. Watching an overwrought movie with overwrought central performance and CGI on speed -- in the hot summertime, in a stuffy movie theater (White Plains Cinema De Lux, NY), two tired people left the movie theater and began to realize that the something is becoming as extinct as the dodo bird, filmmaking with a good "book." The movie is drunk on its own pyrotechnics through which the actors move like puppets. Presumably that was the intention of the brilliant minds that created it. So, in doing a dazzling job of presenting rats in a maze, the movie can be recommended for a gadget-savvy, popular-culture-consuming demographic we would deplore, if our children were not so much part of it.
