AMAZING!! Nothing like you've ever seen before. I couldn't believe how awe inspiring it was, and all I could think of was how in the world did they do this. I had no desire to see it in the beginning, but my husband kept on me because he wanted to see it, I am so glad that I went.

Is the only way to watch this epic movie… IMAX & 3D. The movie is a special effects treasure. I wonder why a far away planet in 2514 is shown as such a primitive land, but once you get over that, the movie is quite credible. I believe the movie is done in a sensitive manner to the cultural differences.

The cinematic experience of this movie was incredible, best I have ever experienced. Cannot imagine ever again wanting to see a movie in a format other than IMAX 3D. Plot was very weak but I was so in awe of the other elements I did not care.

Visually, this was a stunningly beautiful movie. The IMAX experience was almost too good. My daughter was feeling ill after but she gets seasick easily. 3D has come so far that I'm convincced it will be the new standard in film making. I gave the movie four stars only because the base story was beautiful and elegant but not original. I kept thinking this is too close to Dances with Wolves ala Sci Fi. The Na'vi language and dress too closely resembled indiginous Native American and African culture. It's a masterpeice of film making though and will be remembered as a cinematic breakthrough.

James Cameron has set the new standard for the movie experience. It is a 2hr. and 40min. amusement park ride that totally immerses you in another world that is alien in its environment and all too familiar in its very human lesson. Masterfully made and a feast for the eyes and the soul. We will look back one day and say that this was the film that started it all. Don't even hesitate....go see this movie in IMAX 3D....as it was meant to be seen!

- feel of being there as part of the action.
The story could not have been more boring. Not even children's cartoons are more predictable nor more politically correct. It was painfully obvious as to where things were going, who was evil, who would change their views, etc.

I was pulled into this fantasy world and my belief was suspended - as you watch the unbelievable, you completely forget you're watching characters and a world that are computer generated. I was able to see AVATAR in 3D-IMAX and it was an incredible experience. From the very beginning, I was drawn into the story and the 3D effect intensified this feeling. At one point I almost found myself reaching out to swat at a falling ash. During the course of the film, I found myself, as Jake Sully did, falling in love with the world of Pandora.

I was a bit skeptical about the movie because I really do not enjoy Sci-Fi movies. With my husband's coaxing I said yes and we decided to see it in 3D. Much to my surprise I enjoyed the movie. My husband was more ecstatic than I because he is a sci-fi nut. I would recommend this movie to anyone that really enjoys sci-fi because the story was good and the computer animation was INCREDIBLE.

My kids told me I HAD to see this, and they were right! They've seen it as many as 5 viewings each, and plan to buy it! I've seen it twice in 3D, and once in IMAX 3D. I highly recommend IMAX. I rarely see a movie in theaters more than once, but this one makes you want to keep coming back. You get sucked in and feel like you are experiencing the drama, excitement, terror and joy. I can't wait to see the next installment!

I listened to all the hype about Avatar and finally went to see it for myself. We decided we would go to the IMAX 3D version in Phoenix. In a short word... WOW!!!!! We came out of there speechless. I have joined the ranks and can definitely say this is the best movie I have ever seen. Hugely entertaining. You just don't want the movie to end. We just came in from seeing it 3D at a regular theater and believe the IMAX is about 50% better. If you have the chance, go to the IMAX. You won't be disappointed.

We loved the movie, the fantastic sound system was unbelievable and the IMAX size was tremendous. We thoroughly enjoyed 3D but are not enamoured with it for movie after movie. As a special affect for Avatar, it added another layer of complexity to the visual excitement bombarding us. The imagination of colors, scifi, creatures, planets was incredible. We want to go agaaaainnn!!!!!!!

This movie bursts into new ground. The plot and story are excellently done and, though subtle, the implications to present events are familiar. Even though there were better movies in the year for specific areas, this movie was the best that I saw that excelled in all areas. I saw it in the 3D IMAX version which added a dimension that I have not experienced. It was a beautiful event to enjoy and I recommend it.

I have been waiting of 3D to do science fiction. This was a great beginning. Cameron is working to give science fiction and movie making what George Lucas did with Star Wars. Even though the story was a bit predictable the world that was created was wonderful. Anyone who likes movies should go and experience this.

Didn't know quite what to expect, but they did 3D right on this one - previous Imax 3D movies I have watched really didn't provide that true extra pop - this one had people reaching out to grab vines, and I even flinched/ducked when there was a projectile that 'was heading towards me'.
The sound was fantastic, though loud towards the end - I found that I walked out of the theatre with diminished hearing.
The plot is fairly typical and predictable, as I had read beforehand, but the A/V experience really made this worth seeing.
