The best movie in recent history.
The plot, the characters, the music. Oh and I almost forgot - THE CG AND 3D are unfreakingbelievable!!!! You will not regret going to see this one. Even though, because of its popularity and length it may be difficult to find a time to get out to a theater, you MUST see this in a theater. Further, it MUST be in 3D. If you can manage IMAX 3D, it will blow your mind. DO NOT wait for the DVD or cable release, unless you plan on buying a 3D tv sometime soon...
Brain candy, I tell you.

I spent roughly $60 to take my family to this movie at the Imax AMC and it was worth it. We had previously seen it in regular digital 3D and thought it was an amazing movie however when we saw it in 3D Imax it was spectacular in every sense. You felt like you were part of the movie, actually embedded within the frames of the film.

I first tried to see this movie a month ago, but the tickets were sold out and there was a line a mile long full of teenagers camping out to see it. Since I wanted to see it in IMAX 3-D, I decided to wait a month and try again...and I'm glad I did. I wasn't sure I'd like it since I'm not a huge science fiction fan, but I loved every minute of it. The 3-D made everything look like it was happening in your lap. It was so suspenseful that I didn't even notice how long the movie was until my butt fell asleep.

This movie cost $350 million, and it is worth every penny. Immediately you will be hit by the impressive stereoscopic 3D and amazing CG, but the film itself and the story it tells is quite remarkable. Great acting, great directing, amazing story. I don't want to give anything away, but you have to see it.

Actually when I first heard about the movie I was not interested, not my kind of movie. When I realized I could see it at the IMAX in 3D, I thought what the heck I'll give it a whirl.....and WOW what a great movie. My hands broke out in a sweat several times and the 2 hrs 40 mins seemed like 30 mins. I really hope there will be a sequel so I can experience it further. Thanks James Cameron for a great production.

Great story from start to finish. This had something for everyone; suspense, romance, science fiction, action.... Best of all, there was a moral to the story as well! For me, this was the best movie of the year!

I am not a person that will sit and watch the same movie over and over again, but Avatar is one out of 3 movies I have encountered in my life that I will do this for. It is a great movie for people of all ages. It takes grownups back to the times when fantasy and imagination played a major role in life.
I watched Avatar on the regular screen with my children and it was great, but the entire time I was sitting there thinking it would be good to see the movie in IMAX 3D. I finally saw the movie in IMAX 3D and it was incredible! The sound and picture quality was perfect and the glasses were a nice fit, I must say. Afterwards, people walked out of the theatre and just kept talking about how great the movie was.

When I first saw Avatar in 2D I sat in my seat thinking 'oh my god' the entire time. I upgraded to Real-D but experienced the background being fuzzy and the glasses lose the contrast of the 2D print. IMAX is the best of both worlds, bright screen and crystal clear imagery like looking out a glass window into a fantasy world. I'm not going to lie... it has deeply moved me enough to see it 6 times, 2x each format because I know that the Blu-ray will never come close to IMAX. Yes the story is old (and some may say cliche), but we need to be reminded of these themes lest history repeat itself. It has changed the way I think about needless waste and compassion for my fellow man. Some get it, and for those that don't there will always be the SFX.

I absolutely loved this movie! The IMAX 3D only made this fabulous movie even better! Seen it twice since it came out. First went right after Xmas and it was a packed house, then I just went this past Sunday 1-24 and still it was a packed house! What does that tell you???

I just saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it. The cinematography is breathtaking and overall the movie is inspiring. Well done. However, the actuall storyline is predictable, good vs. evil, and perhaps too much similarity to cowboys vs. Indians.

The movie was everything i was expecting and a bit more. This was my first time at an Imax theater and i was completely satisfied with what i received. i have never purchased a movie this will be my first purchase in 32 years. great movie i did not mind the 2 plus hours spent . totally worth it .

I was hooked from the moment the 2001: Space Odyssey throwback images of the space craft visuals started to when Jake opened his eyes as a member of the "People" at the end. The special efects were beyond exceptional - the floating mountains, the Home Tree, the Tree of Souls, the flying effects, the battle scenes, all fabulous. James Cameron's creativity with a romantic storyline comes through in this movie as it did in Titanic.

Great special effects. Dialogue weak. Needs editing. Much too long. Make sure you see it in IMAX 3D. Take earplugs. The sound level is so high it could cause permanent damage.

A wild ride of adventure and unbelievable scenery; a modern day Indiana Jones! My wife is not a science fiction fan. After we saw Advatar, she not only loved it, she said she wanted to see it again. That's the ultimate complementary review!
Sure wish IMAX would go back to their original glasses, the new ones have warped lenses and distort the image on the edges of you vision.

From the 1st 5 minutes I was hooked. I love the 3D effect. Then the whole movie was good. I left that place feeling like I had been on a roller coaster. What a rush!

Cameron's ability to take a story, which could be considered cliche, and turn it into an epic with a combination of outstanding visuals, music, and, most of all, excellent film crafting is unsurpassed. It was a good as "Titanic" - maybe better.

Definitely worth seeing at the imax-unbelievable look, but wow, drink alot-I have never seen this classic storyline so messed up. my group was laughing at the screen. how could they spend this amount of money and have hired the writers from a toddler's cartoon? yes, the story is as bad as you have heard.

Great movie. The story was ok and somewhat predictable, but the special effects are all that really mattered. This was by far the best 3d movie I have ever seen.
It almost made me not complain about the ticket price... Almost...
Tickets, Popcorn, Drink and Candy = $45+
OUCH is all I have to say about that!

I didnt want to go see it at first because the previews made it look weird, but my sister took me. It was one of the best films i have ever seen! It was like a futuristic Pocahontas & John Smith love story. It did make me kinda hate the military though.

I heard about the 3D IMAX experience from a couple of friends. I am sure glad I listened to them. This movie was fantastic. It took a little while to get used to the glasses and imagery but boy was it worth it. I sure hope that Hollywood makes more movies like this. The only downside was that my wife and I saw it at a "movie grille" venue. According to management they don't serve food in IMAX theatres even if it is being shown at a "movie grille". If you chose these venues, check it out before or eat early.

Avatar 3D IMAX was fantastic to the MAX. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. If you are a sci-fi-er and looking for something different than Avatar is definitely it. Avatar does not disappoint because James Cameron outdid himself with Avatar. He left me wanting more and anticipating Jake Sully's next adventure with the his new life on Pandora as ruler of Neytiri's tribe. Oh and the motion sickness thing everyone is talking about really only happens to people with a motion sensitivity to begin with. I never experienced any ill feelings except when the movie ended and that was only because I wanted to keep watching the movie, lol. Again, a fantastic fascinating movie. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED...enjoy!
