4, maybe even 4 1/2 stars. Movie = not exceptional, but good (not too cheesy). But with 3D = Unreal! It's no Godfather or Shawshank, but the 3D simply completes the package (and I was VERY skeptical!). I usually hate the big phony/cheesy CGI blockbuster, but I must say, this is definitely worth seeing in 3D... IMAX if possible. Going again and bringing the wife rather than the guys next time!

I was a kid when Star Wars opened, and I thought nothing would ever top this, well I was wrong. This is the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. IMAX 3D, is a stunning and awesome experience. I remember when 3D was not so great, but this is like being in the movie. I can' t imagine anyone thinking this movie is not great. It deserves every Academy Award it can get. Kudos to James Cameron. He is a genius. I am grateful that I got to see this movie.

I thought it was a great movie. The special affects, if you can even call them that, were simply amazing, the plot was solid, the acting very good & the 3D breathtaking. I never see movies twice, but would make an exception for AVATAR. This movie was almost 3-hours long and it went by in a snap. I'm an action movie type of guy, so AVATAR really grabbed me. Plus, it was appropriately lacking in the gory stuff, as well the sex scenes. Very thoughtfully
done!

I was irritated by how sophomoric this movie was. Cameron's good at the big special effects, but nothing else. The bad guys were cartoons. The good guys were slightly less so, but it was all so predictable. Corporations Bad! Military Bad! Pocohontas Girl Good! Sigh.
If this wins best picture, I won't listen to that Academy ever again.

Having seen Avatar twice in the Imax theatre, I must say it is a total package. It is a Visual, Auditory, and emotional experience not to be missed. This is one true "theatre worthy" movie.

The lion's share of creative energy went into the visuals rather than the plot, but I have no real quibble with that. It was a mesmerizing couple of hours in a fascinating and beautiful place.

Amazing! I go to the movies often, once a week or more... this movie was outstanding! I have never been so blown away by a movie. You get lost in the jungles of this movie with just enough 3D to make you feel like you are there! You must see it in IMAX 3D!

One of the best. No whines please. James Cameron takes the basics of many great stories. Mixes the elements together with current and future image creation technology
and takes us to a place so much farther away then the galaxies we experienced in the last
twenty or 30 years. Please if you think the movie is to long, leave. This director not only has a vision, he has a feeling.

I just have to say I though that Avatar is one of the greatest movies I've seen in so long, the graphics that were shown were just crazy. Due to the effects that were made it made me feel like I was a part of the movie. Now for the drama is was just amazing from begining to end the whole movie played well and stayed intresting, I thought it was like the notebook but for guy's who love sifi!

The movie was interesting but I have not seen 3D in a while. I was surprised. I expected a big differcene but it wasn't realy different. Most importantly, it was simply TOO LONG.

We showed up 30 min early & the closest 2 seats left were 2nd row. We would have left, but we had driven over an hour to a 3D IMAX theatre, so we stayed. BIG mistake. From the 2nd row instead of the 3D standing out, it just made everything blurry. I'm sure if we would have been 10 rows up, it would have been perfect. The movie itself was very entertaining, I just felt like we missed out on what should have been anenjoyable experience. I have read on other reviews since, that certain theatres will block off the first few rows, as well as the seats to the extreme right and left with a sign on them that states, "not appropriate for 3D viewing" and I wish more theatres would follow suit, instead of trying to squeeze out every last dime.

Amazing-Captures every one of your senses- Crystal Clear at the IMAX-Sound was phenomenal- just so thrilled I got to see it at an IMAX-(Regular 3D) a waste. The ONLY way to truly enjoy this movie is in an IMAX. (Half price IMAX on Tues. Night at Prov. Place Mall) !

AVATAR is immersively addictive, exciting to watch, totally unlike any other movie experience. The story uses some familiar tropes, yet they are skillfully used to create something never seen before. This was our third time (once, Real 3D; twice, IMAX 3D). The image was never blurry; the depth of field ever-present (at it's best with drifting embers, debris, Ewa). We not so much recommend as proselytize the film, though this third time will hold us until the dvd come out.

The story line was predictable and poorly done. The special effects were great, but overdone, especially the scenery. Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang) was cartoonish at times. The rest of the cast did not come across as very good actors. I was also very disappointed with the 3D effects, which were barely noticeable and the overall Imax experience was a waste. Nice art work though, but considering how long it took to make this movie something should be excellent.

I know James Cameron makes great quality movies. I suspect what he saw in a tightly controlled environment was a perfect and crisp delivery of his film which sold him on the 3D process.
Perhaps, being that the Polarized Glasses remain the same, the projection is at fault and has lost it's calibration over time. What we saw was a blurry, fuzzy movie from top to bottom.
This happened both at a standard 3D theater as well as yesterdays IMAX.
If the purpose of 3D is make the film realistic and life like. Blurry and fuzzy is a deadly trade off.
Can't wait for the 2D blu-ray to come out so I can be free to root for this superb work which Cameron and his army have made so well.

This movie captivated me like no other movie has done before. I am so glad that we spent the extra money to see this in 3D. It made the experience just so much better than I could have imagined. Can't wait to see it again and then purchase when the Blu-Ray edition comes out.

Pandora is so beautiful, I want to go live there. Highest praise for the rendering of the world, the animals and the Na'vi. The 3-D effects are done tastefully, and the acting is fantastic.
The plot is predictable, and the dialog is simple and unrealistic, the bad guys are caricatures, and, of course, there are logical problems throughout (how can the walkie-talkies used by humans function in the electromagnetic dead-zone?), . But all this doesn't detract from the whole amazing experience.

Good Movie. Extraordinary clarity and sound...Beautiful cinematography alongwith a story too..God Movie..Definitely wont get bored watching it multiple times..But please dont waste your money if you are not watching this on IMAX 3-D..Tickets are a bit pricy but worth every penny..
