There were some times that it was so LOUD that I had to cover my ears, but the 3D was GREAT. I'd give a 4.5 instead of a 5 because it was so loud. The 3D had me dodging! Whoever did that work is a genius.

The best 3D IMAX experience so far.
Stephen Lang was fun to watch as the scarred-up mercenary.
The method in which the living creatures on the alien world interacted with other creatures and nature was also innovative.
But, unless you absolutely "love" video-game Warefare this game lacks the "fear" and adreneline of combat plus the sense of urgency.
The script was imature and lightweight fun.
More than a rollercoaster ride but not more than the script of Aliens2, JarJarBinks and Pocohantas.
Also . . . is it me or did the CGI creatures still look like there's a way to go with the realism(it looked like Beowolf animation was better - -although THIS movie went above and beyond with live interations plus 3D)

Excellent movie, it was a must see in a theater preferably IMAX by my friends, and I agree!
I was a little disappointed in the IMAX as all the theaters I have been to before where huge wrap around 160 degree type. It was still a wonderful movie.

Avatar is an amazing movie. I actually saw it twice. The second time I went to the IMAX in West Ashley just outside of Charleston, SC. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THE IMAX HERE. They must have changed the standards for classifying a theater as IMAX. This theater is the same size as the first movie theater I saw it in but with smaller less comfortable seating.

Uplifting and fascinating - the amount of imagination used in this movie is absolutely astounding. I normally never see a movie more than one time - have been to see this one three times and may just decide to go again.

One of the best movie I've seen in a long time. A wonderful message of unity... depth beyond the theme of good vs. evil. And seeing this movie in 3D has spoiled my movie viewing... quite a sensory experience.

Second time that I have seen it in 3D IMAX. Story line, holds your attention for the full three hour experience. Has all the elements of a Love story, Action adventure, fFantasy, Ideologic connetion with the plants, animals, nature and the universe or a greater consiousness. Laughter, sadness, greed, hate, envy, compassion, care, love and the gamut of human emotion are all expressed in awesome 3Deffects and stunning animation..

Superb movie! This was the second time I went to the movie. The Imax 3D version was excellent. The standard 2D version was acceptable because I saw it in 2D first. I would heartily recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good story and fantastic effects.

Great movie! Loved the story line and the amount of action in the movie. And, the special effects were awesome! This is a must see on the IMAX 3-D screen but be sure to sit back from the screen and more towards the middle for the best viewing ability without getting a headache. I saw it twice now on IMAX and can't wait for the DVD!

The plot was cowboy and indians with a science fiction twist. Bad guys, good guys, boy-girl, villian, hero, and happy ending. Biggest complaint: Take ear plugs - the sound was so loud that people complained of headaches and a few walked out. My date was nauseous. My recommendation is only if you wear earplugs.

The fact that this movie was created has given me hope for the human species. I have hope that the messages will be heard and felt. I have to say that I cried tears of joy through out most of the movie with some tears of pain. Attending this movie was an amazing experience! Seeing it at the IMAX and in 3-D was an awe inspiring experience!

Great 3D and special reffects. Story was kinda trite, evil big corp vs kindly natives. The fast moving scenes had a frame flicker that was annoying, but all in all it was an amazing display of new movie technology. I don't want to see anything in 2D again.

I investigated the diferences between how the movie was being shown in my area. regular,
real 3-d and Imax 3-d found out that Imax 3-d is the best so we paid the extra money to see it in Imax 3-d. (Reviews said Real 3-d was ok if all you had in your area was the movie shown that way.) ALL I CAN SAY IS AWESOME. This isn't the old 3-d where it looks like its being thrown at you. You really feel part of the movie. So realistic... there are times when you feel like swating the bugs away from your face. If you never see another movie again experience this one. AWESOME!!!!!!

I am a self proclaimed cynic, and after all of the nauseating hype put into this film, I was not a believer and felt it would do well at the box office due to the guerrilla marketing, but be a critical disappointment! How wrong was I??? I decided to go see this movie because some of my cynic-minded friends loved it, so I had to give it a shot. I was blown away!!! Not only by the special effects and 3D imagery, but by the storyline as well. I am not a fan of CGI integrated with real life humans because I feel you can notice the difference (ie. Jar Jar Binx in Star Wars) but this was so realistic. I was absolutely amazed in the quality! This is a must see film, numerous times, and is highly recommended in IMAX 3D!!!

The visuals in this movie were absolutely amazing! It was well worth the money to see it in the IMAX. After about 10 minutes of viewing, you adjust to the 3D sensation--they also stop with the "let's wow them," first impression scenes. I did not get a headache or motion sick, even though I am easily prone to both.

Seeing this movie in 3-D IMAX was amazing. It is a pretty long movie but I was so involved I never once thought about it. The effects are the best I have ever seen. Every great thing you have heard about this movie is TRUE! When the credits started I leaned over to my husband and said ,"Let's stay and watch it again!"

IF you're going to go see this movie, you must go see it in IMAX 3D!! I have a home theater and don't go to the theaters anymore but I'm extremely glad that I didn't miss this experience. I only paid $9 for a weekday evening and it was worth every penny, even worth it at $15. This is not your typical layered 3D, this is full blown infinite depth that makes you feel like you are there seeing it all happen in real time that you could feel !! NOT a movie for younger kids because of smoking, swearing and violence, but a true WOW visual and sound experience for adults that will leave you excited about the future of the movies.

In our local AMC theater there are 10 or 12 rows of slightly inclined seats at the very front, and then the main block of tiered seats. For best effects, we were advised to sit in the middle, on the front row of the tiered seats.
The storyline is thin, and predictable. Smoking cigarettes is a bad example to children. The romance connection was inevitable. The acting and the characters are not particularly memorable, but overall the movie is STUNNING, breathtaking, and awesome for its effects. The 3D is amazing, you feel you can almost touch the plants.
It is technology such as this that will "clawback" audiences from home theater DVD back to the theater.
This movie is definitely a MUST SEE, but make sure it is IMAX and 3D.
