Amazing. Good acting with a good script and simply technically amazing. The first movie I've been to in a long time where the audience clapped at the end. Highly recommend the IMAX experience for this movie.

I have read some reviews criticizing Avatar's plot. However, I believe the film told a poignant and instructional story about the greed of humanity and its destructive appetite. The characters, human and alien alike, were developed and believable. In addition to these amazing aspects of the film, it was simply beautiful to watch. The special effects and artistry created a realistic alternate world in a way never before achieved. It is a treat to the eyes and the mind. If you can get to see it in IMAX 3D, do it. You will not be disappointed.

Just got home from Avatar. Great, great entertainment experience. It was easily the best visual stimuli I’ve ever seen on a screen. I recommend everyone give it a look, it’s worth it just to see what it looks like. All the reviews said the story wasn’t that great but I disagree. I loved it. It might be on my top three or four list of favorite movies of all time. I was really drawn to the female lead character Ney’tiri. She really dragged me into the story and got me more emotionally involved. I’ve never felt moved by the falling of a tree before.

I know James Cameron wrote/ produced the movie. But, it's like he found someone's dream / vision journal from their childhood, adapted it to adult present day experiences and technology and produced into an amazing movie... in 3D.
Cameron is the new Spielberg / Lucas.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE. You will not be disappointed. I saw it on IMAX 3D and it blew my mind. It's not the best movie ever made, but it does push the boundaries of what is possible with so much imagination and innovation. Wonderful music, story, actors, and effects. Avatar is a very good movie, the special effects are ground breaking and all actors excelled, however the plot is almost insultingy simplistic.
You will not leave this movie with the adrenaline rush you got from Aliens or Terminator 2, or the emotions you felt watching Titanic.
Not being "the best ever" shouldn't detract from a movie,but the hype that this movie would be a "trancedant experience" is never realized. This is the best 3D ever, it is easy on the eyes.

I remember when I was a kid and saw Star Wars the first time. I believe Avatar is that type of movie experience where you see something that you have never seen before. The feel of the movie reminded me of when I saw "The Abys" The 3D Imax experience was great and when the sold out theater patrons clap after the movie is completed you know it is going to be a hit. Some launguage that maybe could have been left out so EVERYONE could see it but it was a fun time at the movies. Paying FULL PRICE even at 11:30am was well worth it. GO SEE THIS MOVIE in the theatre, don't wait to see it on your big screen TV. No TV size would do it justice.

"Avatar" is a movie that needs to be seen in the IMAX 3D format to truly experience. The special effects are nearly flawless, and the world on Pandora is fantastical yet believable. The CGI characters are able to express multi-layers of emotion, and you find yourself forgetting that they are not real. While elements of the plot have been seen before (the "noble savage"), the message is still poignant and elicits emotion. I left the theatre wishing to share this experience with everyone I knew, and highly recommend it in 3D. You have never seen anything like it before!

For starters, this movie was amazing. The best of the year. You must see it in 3-D. It's a masterpiece. I loved everything about the universe that James Cameron created. You get completely immersed in it from the get go. The length of the movie is never a problem. Nothing slows to a halt. You never check your watch.
All that being said, the force fed liberal propaganda almost made me throw up in my mouth. It would be 100% possible to make the story as great as it is now without the ridiculous Anti-American sentiment.
To use the lines "shock and awe" and "fight terror with terror" is a travesty. I hope all the books, sequels, and prequels lose the political agenda. The universe of Avatar will flourish just the same without it.

Absolutely the best movie ever made. This is what IMAX and the new digital 3-D technologies where made for. The overall impact surpassed the first time I saw Star Wars Episode IV, fold in the emotion of Dances with Wolves, a heavy dose of T2 action, a little Top Gun and you have an experience even SciFi haters will enjoy. This even surpassed the landmark LOTR Return of the King. Expect Oscar to agree in spades!!

IMAX 3D AVATAR is the only movie I would like to write a review for so many years. Everybody can get what they want to see from this movie. For me, after 2 days, I still can't get me out of the world of Pandora.It deservs half billion cost, it deservs to be watched for at least 3 times. But the worst thing is it raise my movie taste to such a high level that I don't want to watch any other movies at least in next 2 months. Make sure watch the IMAX 3D version.

The research and development of this story, this world, the language, is breathtaking. I was so taken away by the characters and the deep metaphors there were throughout the movie; I quickly invested into the movie and was right there with them- it's a movie that entertains (didn't even feel like it was almost 3 hours long) and really makes you think.
Absolutely incredible. I could barely speak after it was over.

Combine 2 of the best adventures Disney/Epcot has ever sent us on - Soarin' and Space, through in amazing special effects and make it close to 3 hours and you have an awesome event! This was much more than just a movie when watching Avatar in 3D IMAX and while I would recommend the movie itself, the event of Avatar 3D IMAX is much more than I could have ever expected.

Cameron's inventiveness is restricted to the production values which are very high indeed. Surprisingly, the story is often times quite conventional.
What really hurts is Cameron's returning to his love/hate view of the military, which goes back to the incompetent and cowardly marines in Aliens, and psychotic SEALs in Abyss. Ladle on heavy-handed updating of Vietnam combined with moralizing about Iraq and Afghanistan and you have a storyline which will divide audiences into supporters and detractors.
Antiwar movies like MASH and Apocalypse Now have attracted a wide range of viewers through subtlety and craft. In Avatar, we see craft on its own is insufficient to carry the story.

First, the 3-D. Amazing. There were times when things in the movie seemed to hang over the seat in front of me. Truly amazing.
Second, the IMAX. Resolution was incredible. The difference between 35mm and IMAX is ridiculous Crystal clear. See it in an IMAX theatre.
3rd, the CGI. I've never seen such lifelike CGI, the interaction between live action and CGi was seamless. This is the future of film making.
Last, the movie. The plot was very good, the acting was excellent. You will be pulled in by the human drama. You will feel the joy and the pain. Even without the effects this was a terrific movie, with the effects, it's a revolution.

Mr. Cameron has done it again! Avatar is not only a feast for your eyes. The experience you get while watching the Na'vi's story pleases the rest of your four senses and gives you something to talk about with your significant other and kids.The parallels drawn in the plot of the movie with America's history are very recognizable. However, they are not overwhelming and have uniqueness that make a story unforgettable. It is a great mix of the "Halo" game and Pocahontas cartoon. I highly recommend this movie as a great choice for a Family Movie event.

Star Wars stand aside! Avatar is one of the best sci-fi movies ever created. James Cameron set a new bar for CGI with ultra realistic humanoid characters and creatures that you almost believe are real. And for the first time in my life I've seen a movie in 3D where the director uses the 3D technology to great effect without it feeling gimmicky. This movie is a MUST see!

James Cameron remembers that movies are about story's first, and CGI second (ahem--Michael Bay should be taking good notes). Despite the fact that Avatar relies on historic undertones of the United States dark histories of colonialism and the war on terror, Avatar utilizes these themes to create lovable characters and an emotional storyline. Between the fantastic story and mastered special effects, you find yourself immersed in the world of Pandora, forgetting the CGI and believing the Na'vi are real.
