Brilliant, and worth every penny!
If you only see it once, see it in 3D, and IMAX 3D if at all possible. The story was decent, the direction excellent, and the overall delivery was impeccable. The visual (and visceral) impact, however, was PHENOMENAL.
My dirty little secret? I've seen it TWICE in two days.

This movie was really fun and entertaining and I enjoyed it from start to finish. The biggest issue probablly was the fact that the movie was projected to be the "BEST MOVIE EVER!". I saw the movie and in my opinion it was just another movie, but a very good one at that. The story line was average, the direction and acting was good, and the visuals were simply incredible. I would suggest this movie to everyone, just as long as they enjoy action, and will respect the movie for its many pros instead of rejecting it for the very few cons.

Not a story we have never heard before. Not oscar winning drama. Can I just say that it probably is the most stunning feature I have ever laid eyes on. Only enhanced by the brilliant IMAX 3d! A must see on a big screen.

I have not seen a 3D movie since I was a kid. The NEW 3D is amazing and puts you in the middle of all the action. I found the colors and special effects to be brilliant and breathtaking. I became completely engrossed in the story and thinking about it for hours afterward. If we all could step back and see life through the eyes and heart of another...it might be a different world we live in.

Rarely is a movie made that makes you say WOW just minutes into the first few scenes and this one does.
I watched this in 3D imax near the front row and was overcome by the fluidness, colors and beauty of this film. The storyline was solid and characters believable. I felt like I had left this planet for 2 hours and 40 minutes and been placed into this fantasy world.
My hope is that it meets all box office expectations and a sequel will be made!!
Way to go Mr. Cameron, you are the king of the world!

I love, love this movie. From start to end. THe movie had a great love story and great plot. And i don't need to mention te great action packed scenes with the awesome 3D Imax effects!!!!!

All of the visuals really lived up to the expectations and the hype. James really out did himself. the battle scenes were epic and he did a really good job of engrossing you into the film. The only way to see this movie is in 3d and preferably imax. the only things that seemed off were that certain characters were very thin, especially Colridge. he could've been explored further and others like Michelle Rodriguez seemed unimportant but these are minor flaws.

From the opening scenes, the story and character development draw you in. The use of special effects to create a new world make the viewer want to BE there! This is an awesome movie; the best 3-D, computer generated film ever. We are definitely going to see it again at Imax!!!

A must see movie for 2009, 2010, and every year there after. I love, love this movie! You have to see this in 3D there is no other way to see it. This is one of those movies you DO NOT want to wait until it comes out on DVD. You HAVE to see this on the silver screen in 3D IMAX or you will seriously miss out.

went in with high hopes and left with my mouth agape. what. a. movie. the plot line might get a bit corny and predictable at times, but nonetheless, worth every penny. i will watch this movie again (prob within the next week) with the same group that watched it the first time.
the visuals were awe-inspiring to say the least, but the characters were engrossing and endearing and the story truly is a global message, and a microcosm of modern truths; what should mother nature endure at our sake?
all in all 10-10 as far as movie going experience.
ps. i trully hope that cameron lives up to his word and delivers a trilogy :)

Wow! Incredible! Great movie makiing once again from James Cameron. My whole family was blown away by this movie (which is rare now a days). We saw it in IMAX 3-D which I highly reccomend.
This movie has it all, Action, Drama, Beyond Beautiful Effects and a Great Story! I have read other critics reviews about the dialog being flat. This is not a play by a dead poet people! The dialog is fine and very entertaining.
I have a very nice TV and Home Theatre System at home. Although I love movies, I do not got to the movies much anymore due to crying babies, cell phones and just flat out rude people. This movie however is a must see on the big screen and it reminded me how great going to a movie can be.

Absolutely unbelievable cinematic experience. The most amazing visual experience since I first saw Star Wars back in the 70's. Don't listen to anyone who rags on the story because no one goes (or should go) to a movie about aliens expecting War & Peace. The story is more than enough to keep up with the simply amazing visuals. Do not even consider watching this in any other format.

I don't go to the movies very often, so I pick and choose what I see. My family went to see this in IMAX 3D because I heard that this was the best way to see it. It was awesome! The world that was created for this movie was fantastic. The movie really drew you into it and you forgot everything else. Story made you care about the characters. It was great! I don't think you need to see it in IMAX, but 3D is really neat. The 3D isn't in you face, it's just there to enhance it.

Combining the brilliant effects of the WETA workshops [LOTR] and the sheer novelty of the Wachowski Brothers, "Avatar" has set the standard against which fantasy movies will be judged for some time to come.
I recommend seeing the iMax, 3-D version to get the full experience.
While the story and the acting were pretty standard fare, the immensity of Cameron's vision of another world fully transports you away for the nearly three hours of the film.
Highly recommended.

This movie was one of the best, if not the best, movie I've ever seen. It captures your attention right from the beginning with well composed shots and amazing 3D. I was unsure about the run time going into it, but it doesn't feel long at all. The story line is a little predictable but you'll be so captivated by the amazing special effects that you wont care. If you've been waiting for a movie worth the money, this is it. SEE IT.

This is the best movie I have seen in over 10 years and I have seen a lot of movies both domestic and foreign. This is by far and away one of the greatest masterpieces of all time.
It will have you dreaming and wishing you lived on Pandora. James Cameron has outdone himself.
The cinematography was out of this world - I have never seen anything like it. The acting and the score will consume you.
Go see this film. You will not be disappointed. He has launched the careers of newer up-and-comers like Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana and re-launched the careers of Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver.
A thrill ride, this film will control your emotions. WRITTEN and DIRECTED by Cameron, this is what filmmaking should be.

I loved this movie, and so did my Fiance!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is into scifi and animated pix. Some of the best transitions in animation to real life I have ever seen in a movie! The story line is great too. The bad guy is believable and a great balance to those lovable blue Na'Vi.
Oh and watch it in 3D, its well worth it!
