I usually don't spend time to write a movie review. but this one is worth it.
I wanted to say Thank you for the great movie. thank you for this Awesome experience. while watching it i felt like i was running and jumping on the tree, it felt like i was in a dream.
This movie is one of the best nothing like it. the story is great. the visuals are WOW.
I'm going to watch it again in the theater this week.
Thank you for the director thanks to everyone who worked on that movie.

First of all, I never take the time to review movies. But, Cameron and 20th Century Fox crafted one of the most compelling films of its genre. The film artfully combined visually stunning effects and a compelling story with a uniquely immersive experience. There is nothing left for me to say except, go see it.

This was our first IMAX 3D movie, and we enjoyed it immensely! We were totally immersed in the story and the scenery of Pandora. The length of the movie was not noticeable, and in fact we wanted it to continue. We heartily recommend this movie to everyone! Try to see it in IMAX 3D, if you can. It's a huge advantage!

Solid, but lacking

It's fair to say this was the most hyped movie of recent times, but it fails to live up to expectations of being the best movie ever. The story is extremely cliched and predictable (think Dances with Wolves plus Fern Gully), and the 3D can be disorienting in some scenes where the little 3D objects distract you from the now out-of-focus action, and fast-moving action scenes are just dizzying.
That all said, it was still a solid movie. The actors were great and the CGI was absolutely breathtaking. The vistas of Pandora are so beautifully rendered, it's quite easy to see why this cost so much.
Short version: bad story, cinematographic glitches here and there, but recommended anyway because it's a new kind of spectacle.

It would be seemingly impossible for any movie to live up to all of the "hype" generated by this production, but Avatar did! I am 64 yrs and took my sons 33 & 27 yrs to the IMAX the day after Christmas and we all were blown away by the experience, the visuals, the technology,....this really could change the way we judge going to the movies in the future...do you want a nice story or do you want the full mind-blowing head-spinning experience of IMAX 3-D surround sound? You will have a choice.

Avatar is just a fantastic film! The 3-D effect made it all the more fantastic, but even on its own, this movie has a great plot with lots of heart & wondrous special effects --- the beauty of Pandora and its people & creatures is simply other-worldly & breathtaking! You MUST see it at least once on the big screen in 3-D - it's simply amazing!!!

This movie was absolutely stunning, from the previews displayed on television I was doubtful of its success. However, when my friends began to enthuse about the quality of the effects as well as the story line I had to see it. The tremendous detail allowed for the watcher to get into the movie and the story line allowed for the imagination of people wanting to go and live in Pandora.
This was a great movie and I would recommend it to people of all ages.

You really can get lost in the action, as if you're really flying through the forest. If you allow yourself to believe what you see, you'll be amazed at the sensation. The tech is still not quite perfect, but it's definitely better than anything I've seen up until now. I don't know all the technical details, but the movie was shot at the standard 24 frames per second, which, combined with the strobing effects of the 3-D, makes movement a little weird at times. The movie itself was decent - it doesn't really provide anything unexpected or brilliant. But Avatar is not about the plot or characters, but rather the effects. With stunning visuals, and a story that does manage to stay reasonably interesting, they've definitely got a winner here.

Found 3D enthralling for the first 30 minutes. Silly liberal spin was annoying. Left with a headache from loud soundtrack and overstimulation. Would not recommend spending over $40 (for three) to witness this childish script. My 30 year old son who is a video game addict also had a headache and agrees with this review.

Acting: some very simple characters, some stale lines.
Story: predictable, everyone knows this.
Graphics: amazing, definitely a step up
Audio: very clear and crisp, I didn't find it difficult to hear the words; even if I didn't understand the dialog
3D: truly the step up for movies of epic size. Everyone will want to not only see this film in 3D, but will demand it from more blockbuster films.
Delivery: A++, perfect 10, etc. Even with the story and acting to be so-so (ihmo), it's delivered with a sledgehammer punch that keeps the film together for its length duration.
I definitely cannot wait to own the 3D version of this at home.

The CGI was the best I've ever seen. The 3D was outstanding, when it was used. It felt like the move bounced back and forth between 2D and 3D. The stitching together of live action with CGI was great until the last few minutes of the movie. Proportions between human and Na'vi distorted in the last scenes when they touch each others' faces. Don't get me wrong. I liked the movie, It was impressive, but I don't see it as the epic industry changer it was touted to be.

New favorite movie of all time. I don't go for the Fad or fan based movies like Spiderman or Harry Potter, while there good, a truely great movie has to show you something in a way never seen before, make you think, and touch your soul. This movie did all three. I put it up there with the Epics, Star wars, Legends of the Fall, Blade Runner, Braveheart, and City of the lost Children.

Being a big fan of animation, I really enjoyed the CGI created scenes. The story line, however was generic with the obvious political commentary underneath. Would have been nice to see a more developed story. Both my husband and I felt that seeing it in 2D would be a lackluster experience. .

I don't even have words to describe the beauty of this movie. The Cinematics, Sounds, and story line came together with such a dramatic effect, that it truly left you breathless. It's not too often that you get to the end of a movie and the audience applauds. This is in my opinion the most moving film I have ever seen.

Even if your not a sifi fan or a James Cameron fan this movie is a must see!! It is a timeless story with the most stunning visuals I have ever seen, and I"m in to all of those special effects type movies. I even got teary eyed in a few places. So don't hesitate go and see this movie. If you are going to see it in Imax 3D (which I highly recommend) go 11/2 hours before show time.
