As a scientist, my entering expectation was that strong visual technology would overpower/diminish a probably already weak storyline (aka Titanic - I rated 3.5 out of 5). This movie had a strong storyline. The quality, 3-D glasses were not distracting. Film is engrossing; Initially, the 3-D effects; then you're quickly pulled into the alien world and become involved with it, the characters, and their trials. I left thinking this a 4 out of 5, but couldn't put the lessons of the movie out of my mind - how the movie subtly teaches how we're all part of the "World Organism". The movie has "held" me. I now give it a 5 star rating, destined to be a "Classic" for the ages! I will go back.

So great I had to see it twice. The glasses were comfortable and easy to watch the movie with. The movie was so engrossing the time flew. I didn't want it to end. It was hard going back to the real world after the movie.

I would say it is destine to become a favorite and a learning tool. It shows many of the superior behaviors that we as a "civilized and advanced" society believe in,matter the damage it causes. It shows how when your spirit is down trodden ,you can find redemption and a new life if you open yourself up. The fact that the inhabitance of the planet happen to be 7' - 9' tall had no bearing on the underliing story. James Cameron did it again and has reached farther and made me marvel at the creativity,technology & commitment of the acting, directing and production of the movie industry. I hope to see more movies like this . Yeah for Avitar !! Congradulations.

A wonderful movie experience all around. Nice development of the characters and the interrelations between "man" and nature was refreshing. The technology was also top notch, taking animation integration with live actors to the next level. It is rare when a movie experience follows you, engages you long after you've left the theater, but Avatar did! A must see and the IMAX version was great, although a bit overly loud. Well done Mr. Cameron, a Lucus/Speilberg-ist techno-story that is highly entertaining! I'm not a sequal type, but the"senery" keeps playing back in my head asking for more!

after seeing Avatar 2x in 3-D we just had to see it one more time on IMAX. What an experience. I saw so many new things!! The story is pertinent in every phase of mankind. It is important to see that weapons and machinery of distruction do not make you the strongest.
This would be a lesson well learned.

Beautiful visuals. A story that shows the most humane individuals are not human - but yet can bring out the best in those humans who listen to their own consciences. A strong metaphoric portrayal of our world - as if the world that "we" know (money, power, education, religion, language, etc.) is what "everyone" should have; without regard to the fact that how one lives one's life is THEIR life, and should not be judged by anyone else as "good" or "bad". I'd definitely recommend this movie!

The IMAX 3D experience of Avatar was simply fantastic. The story has been told many times and many ways, and should continue to be told until mankind (especially military leaders) can hold the importance of all lives and nature over power, money, land and cultural differences. This is Pocahontas set in 2154, but with enough futuristic, imaginative differences to make it unique and it is extremely well produced. An amazing movie experience that must be seen in IMAX 3D!

Very beautiful! I just wanted to keep swooping through the air, falling precipitously through the jungle and walking on the huge branches with glowing foliage underfoot forever
I liked the way the romance developed, from two people working together.
Perhaps the morality was simplistic. Wasn’t the lamely named mineral not only worth money, but also necessary for human survival? Should the hero be lionized for betraying the human race? A bit more subtle examination of this conflict might have yielded a more intellectually challenging movie.
Also the anti-intellectual bias, preferring an “empty”-headed warrior to a scientist in learning the new culture, was disturbing.

After having so many people (of diverse age and interests) rave and recommend this movie I forked over $28.00 for my wife and I to see it.
For the 1st time in years I and my wife were not let down.
This film is really amazing and most important of all entertaining. Absolutely the best fantacy film since the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The attraction goes way beyond fantacy lovers and appeals to all movie lovers of all types. Worth the extra bucks to see in 3D Imax.

I was blown away by the cinematic tech breaktrhough that Cameron has acheived. The future possiblilites will be astounding and (hopefully) not limited to si-fi adventure. The naturalness is what stuck me the most. Without the new tech (and also amazing CGI) I would have rated the film a 4-star...(I found the story line predictable as soon as the romance and evil military roles were established). Mike Todd may not have transformed film with his smell-o-vision, but Cameron has with his 3-D and he deserves the boxoffice benefits of the incedible effort and risks taken.

In the words of George Lucas "special effects without a story is a pretty boring thing." The effects were the only good part of this movie. The story was... ridiculous. Fern Gully pairs with Pocahontas. I can't believe I spent that much money on this movie.

Avatar in 3d was awesome. Ive never seen a 3d movie and it was way better than I expected. You felt like you were really in the middle of the gun fire. A few times I felt I had to move my head cause something was coming right at me. The story was good. Definitely worth the money

The IMAX experience is worth the extra couple of bucks. The visual experience alone makes this movie worth seeing. It is a typical James Cameron story, with characters painted in broad strokes. Sort of like a LIfetime Channel Movie in 3D. But it's the kind of story audiences eat up, and he knows what he is doing. Very innovative, like nothing you've ever seen. It will be interesting to see what Hollywood does with 3D this year; there are several more coming out, including Tim Burton and Pixar.

Awesome!!! This movie was very entertaining and a very good story. Loved it loved it! Highly reccomend seeing it. It is a 2 hr 40 min movie but you wouldn't know it while you are watching it. You are never wondering what time it is.
I saw the movie in 3D and it just made it all the more entertaining and it felt like you were there.
Graphics were outstanding. There aren't many great movies around these days it was nice to finally see one that was worth paying the money for.

This is a movie you HAVE TO see iand if you can in IMAX 3D theater. It totally blew me away. Story line was ok, kind of similar to Mulan,but the visual was the best I've ever seen in my life. Ididn't know which part was actually filmed and which was computerized, seemed so real and made you feel that you were in the story. A Must see. Definately to own and enjoy again and again when it comes out on DVD.(wonder if possible that DVD is 3D also???)

If it were only for the graphics alone I would see the movie but this movie has so much more to offer. I do graphics for a living and I can't believe the amount of processing power it must have taken to render this film. Mind boggling.
