Avatar is one the the best Si-Fi I have ever watched. It's a movie that is worth watching more then once. A must in 3D! The special effects were unbelieveable. It kept my attention so well that I didn't feel it was 2hrs. 40mins. Thank you Mr. Cameron.

After hearing from so many people that the movie is a must to see...finally when I watch it, I was really blown away. I can not wait for the blu-ray disc to come out and buy it. I might even watch it again on big screen too.

This was a truely amazing movie and drew us in to make us feel part of the story. The picture was lifelike and special effects made us believe that this place could exist. The story and message while not totally new were presented in such a way as to really hit home.

The bad: Plot was tired scientist vs evil corp/military types. Done better most in that style, but still predictable.
The good: At least the guy leading the forces of good was an actual military guy, and a marine instead of some scientist who knows nothing about fighting.
The spectacular: A completley alien world, outdoors with very alien looking creatures and plants.

OK if you're looking for a movie to watch in 3D this is definitely what you should be watching. Great Story and even better special effects. Sam Worthington does a great job in this movie and the rest of the cast is great. Prepare to enter a world that will blow your mind away. Because of this movie we will see more 3D movies so this movie is revolutionary!!!

For a person that thinks story is the primary reason to see a movie, I may have been wrong on this one. I totally did not expect the 3-d IMAX clarity to be as great and spectacular.. I almost expected the 3-d from Disney world. but there was hardly any distortion. The plot line was pretty much done with the oppression of native people by the evil white european devils.I probably will see this again and sit back and enjoy it again like the first time.

I always expect something great from James Cameron...but he has outdone himself on this one. I saw this in Oklahoma City on AMC's new IMAX screen in 3/D and I have to admit that the movie was one of the best I have ever seen...the local IMAX didn't add anything spectacular to it though. The screen is much smaller than other IMAX theators that I have been to. Seeing this movie at any theator on a 3/D screen would be a treat. Now I understand why the lines have been so long since it's release.

This was truly a stunning visual experience, especially 3-D on the IMAX. While the plot was a familiar one that we've seen in epic battle movies before, the characters were strong enough to bring you in. A dream-like tale with alluring and mesmerizing scenes. Take the journey and enjoy the ride, just make sure to show up a couple hours early to get a ticket (or buy them online to skip the long lines).

This was probably one of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen. The visual effects were totally awesome and 3D was just perfect. Took my grandkids ages 14 & 13 and they feel the same way. They want to go again, and so do I.

I didn't want to see it at first because of the story line. But now that I have, it was a "GREAT" movie. I would definitely see it again, and would recommend anyone to see it. The IMAX 3D is the choice to see it in, and get your tickets online.

This was the most amazing movie experience I have EVER had. Not necc. the GREATEST movie ever, but as an experience, with IMAX AND 3D, phenomenal. The "world" created, really interesting story, fantastic, effects unmatched, sound great and my ONLY complaint is it was TOO LOUD. I'm going back again, and watch a matinee in 3D IMAX AGAIN. just amazing experience.

single-plot storyline plus a bit of romance meant this film had to be a visual extravanganza. and it was. massive screen, depth of field, super sound. pulled me right into the world of pandora

The movie was good, and very entertaining. The visuals were stunning. The story however was juvenile, cliche, and very predictable. I knew exactly where the story was going and how it would end 30 minutes into it. The political correctness was disturbing.
Having said that , if you allow yourself to be taken for the ride the film offers, and don't let the PC BS ruin it for you, its a very enjoyable film.

I liked the movie and recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D. I was entertained for the whole 2 hours 40 minutes; however, elements of the movie were similar to other movies. The story was similar to other movies. I discussed this with my son, who said the movie's story reminded him of Ferngully.
The big machines were similar to the ones in the Terminator and Alien series. The 3D effect was used effectively, and never detracted from the story. The movie should get an oscar nomination for visual effects.

The movie had excellent special effects, with an easy-to-follow plot line. The combination of sci-fi, war movie, suspense, and romance worked well together. No really brand-new themes here, but a message worth listening to. The imagination it took to create a whole new world on a different planet is staggering. This was not just a movie, but an entire experience, especially in 3-D. on IMAX.

Absolutely the best 3D movie I have ever seen. Just beautiful movie experience. Native American's story set on an Alien World. Really enjoyed the storyline. The increadible animation work definately sets a new standard. I was impressed with the pace that the movie kept my attention and the 3D aspect was not cheezie, but just enhanced the movie itself.

There are not a lot of movies that fall into this category. Most often they are first-run movies breaking new ground either in plot, visuals, or effects. This is one of those movies. There will certainly be a followup, but this goes beyond in visuals and story. A super movie, but really worth seeing it in IMAX 3D to get the full immersion. I really didn't want it to end, and wanted to stay in there world.
Don't miss this one.

Go to the Arizona Mills if you want to see the real IMAX experience!!! This screen is a 3 story screen and it is short in length. The screen at the AZ Mills is 6 story!!!! You pay a little less too! Size in this case does make a difference. Plus this place is expensive and the people working there are very rude. I won't be going back, ever.

Fans of every genre should see this movie - it really is unlike anything ever done before.
All complaints I hear about it are based on obviously personal preconceptions, not on the actual quality or content. So go! See it in iMax and sit right down in front so you can see, feel, and hear the effects. Then, stop thinking so hard and just experience the movie - it's incredible!
The messages in James Cameron's films are always conveyed with "stark reality", not relying on subtle messages or creative symbolism (they have them, they just don't rely on them). For me, this film would have held more realism had it been set in 3154 instead of 2154 - technology does grow in leaps, but they are not instantaneous.

This film special effects were spectacular! The beauty and the colors were worth every penny to see this in imax 3-d. The story was good but a little too much violence ruining the avatar experience but see it till the end. two hours and 40 minutes fly bye so make some time for this one.

I had not gone to see a 3D movie since the first time many many years ago, where you wore the cardboard glasses. But on hearing a review from a coworker, I decided to give it a try. I must say that the advances in this technoogy exploited by the movie, simply blew me away. I actually felt drawn in as an observer on the scene, so much so that my wife commented on having felt water mist on her face in a scene where you follow the characters through a waterfall. The brain really can play that trick on you. This movie will definitely take best picture!!
Because of number of words limitations I will try to continue in another review.

I was spoiled watching Avatar in IMAX 3D as my very first 3D film -- I got the state of the art 3D experience of an excellent action/adventure movie from a master storyteller in director James Cameron. You don't have to see Avatar in IMAX 3D -- but you'll regret you didn't!

The most enjoyable movie experience since Star Wars ( Episode IV). The IMAX glasses should be individually wrapped however,.The lenses were smudged, obvioulsy touched by "other hands" ( "Eww gross" in this H1N1 world) and my husband had to get another pair since his lenses were coming out of the 1st pair. But this was a beutiful film. I had to keep telling myself the scenery was not real. If you haven't seen this yet, YOU MUST DO IT, watching this at home will NOT be the same. The long lines are worth it ( just go early to get the good seats ) :-)
