I saw the first Ice Age movie but not the second one. It's not necessary to see the movies in any kind of order.
I really enjoyed this movie. It was light and entertaining and I laughed often throughout the movie. My husband didn't want to see the movie but I caught him laughing as well.
I'd recommend this movie for adults as well as kids.

Bottom line...not as good as the first or second...but still enjoyable for an adult. My daughter (10) loved it, but the young kid behind was scared of the dinosaur scenes.
Alot of the former story lines with some twists. Again, my daughter really enjoyed and has been talking about for the past week....so, kids will really like it. Adults will endure it.

My husband and I are big fans of this series, #3 is absolutly the best... the FUNNIEST. My daughter and her husband enjoyed it as well, our only regret being that we worried about quality of the 3D version so chose to watch the non 3D offering. Great movie! Really LOL funny, with new stuff -NOT just the warmed up rehash of a typical sequel. Far better than Ice Age 2, Dawn of the Dinosaurs provides a ride that gets better as you go and doesn't lag in the middle. Bravo... oh, and Scrat finally meets a girl. Go see it :)

This is a fun movie to watch. My 7 year old daughter laughed out load most of the movie and observed it was as good as the other two movies. My older daughter (11) and I thought it was good as well. Some of the movie highlights are the pursuit of the acorn and new characters named Buck and Scrate. The movie is short enough (1 hour and 30 min) which is perfect.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It's a cute movie for kids. Of course, it's not as good as the first and second one, but it was still overall good. My son enjoyed it and that was all that mattered =)
