"Ever seen a comic horror-period drama buddy movie? Here's one, with a touch of sci-fi thrown in for good measure. Enjoy it, this gem has great acting, a great score, ingenious plotting and movie makers' tricks for story transitions."

"Beautiful images, quirky performances, brilliant gags and a plot that keep you guessing....This is an homage to horror films and the "gravedigger". I enjoyed it from beginning to end."

"i had a feeling i would like this movie, but not nearly as much as i did. it was scary and funny and clever and even a little sweet. the characters were so well realized, the art direction was stunning, and the editing hit all the right notes. pretty much everything i look for in a movie."

"I don't care for horror movies. That said, I really liked this movie. It was very, very funny.
Singing and drinking over the corpse kind of funny.
In other words - Irish humor.
And Ron Perlman with a squint and a brogue, you can't beat that.

ghouls a plenty Date: March 31, 2009

"This film jerked my chain, in a good way. By turns hilarious, horrifying, witty and tender, this "buddy buddy" flick references classic horror films and yet transforms the genre into something fresh and artful. The extras are delightfully dastardly. The stand-out performance is by corpse-salesman Larry Fessenden: he's a cheerfully enlightened Willy Loman. (Hey, a job's a job, and if I'm going to have a tragic downfall, might as well enjoy the plunge.) The art director and special effects crew show-up Hollywood with the low-budget brilliance of their ghastly sets and ghouls. And speaking of the ghoulish, dig deep enough in the dirt, you might find a heart. One of the many delights of this flick."
