This is a fast-paced and gritty conspiracy film with strong similarities to the Bourne movies which is easy to understand when you consider that the director, lead actor and some of the themes are the same. With this said, it's still very enjoyable, and has a sense of realism that delivers an immersive experience. The acting is believable, and the use of hand-held cameras is completely appropriate in conveying what almost feels like a documentary. I give it 4 out of 5 empty WMD sites.

Compared to most movies, this was excellent. Compared to great ones, it was very good. The relentless pace and realistic feel sometimes got me so tense I was wishing there were commercials. Director Greengrass is consistently great. Matt Damon is solid and empathetic, both Everyman and Superman (although I kept forgetting this wasn't a Bourne sequel). The flaws for me were in the script. Chief Miller started out as a real character, and ended up as the smartest, toughest, most invincible soldier in history. And it needed to end with the arrest of Bush and Cheney.

Green Zone is a timely theme and the dialogue and scenes were relevant to the times. The violence though necessary was presented in a manner that the realization of what took place were the building stones for the rest of the story. I was impressed with the cast and director and how they brought the characters to life. It drew you in and held you till the inevitable end which was presented with a twist.

If you didn't know about the Iraq war and why we were there, you may not get much out of this film. The jerky cinematography made me think of the Blair Witch Project and at times was even a bit discomforting. On the other hand the story line was good but predictable. Matt Damon was the perfect choice for this role and his performance was stellar. The behind the scenes of the war machine showes how politics and people manipulate situations and in the end showed how some peoples meddlings result in exactly what they didn't want to happen.

The movie gave a striking view of Baghdad after the US invasion. It showed how disorganized everything was and the intrigues that were going on behind the scenes among the American factions: army, marines, CIA and State Department. Each had their agenda. Besides that there were the Sunnis, Shia, Kurds, Al Queda competing against each other. I think that was the strength of the movie. The scenery from Baghdad took you into the urban architecture, houses and narrow streets. Like the Later Bourne movies, I don't care for the fast moving jerky shots that are used. I still like cinematography that focuses on a scene for awhile and lets you examine it and feel it and explore it. Everything is moving too fast for you to do that.

Matt Damon is good as in the Bourne movies but two things stand out an over welming no holds barred bravery from Damon...a little over the top but good and the Iraqy General whos a little over weight and seems to run at a good clip through his city at movies end for quite a distance and from a storm of American forces let alone Mat Damon as Miller and ends with a turn and no out of breath look or talk. Thin and tired plot. Good action sequences, but typically peppered with Greengrass blur and handheld camera shots. Thick with impossible political conspiracy overtones; Damon's political bent/anger permeate the movie and make his character a bit unbelievable. One grows weary of the rant. Backdrops look authentic; nice military portrayal. Some characters are interesting, but none are given the time/space to become "real". One ends up not caring too much for any, except maybe the "translator". For my money, its a very fast ride through a tired plot with impossible twists that makes for a forgettable movie.

I'm sorry, I cannot help but chuckle at those who dislike the movie because they see it as a political slam. Get A Life People! Its A Movie! and a very good one at that. Matt Damon is in danger of being type-cast but who could pull it off any better? It is well paced and easy to follow but the action makes you feel as though you are there on site smelling the cordite. The story seamlessly blends fact with fiction to the point it is hard to tell where the fact ends and the fiction begins. Anyone old enough to remember all that was happening up and until the US attacked Iraq should find this a bit chilling and definately something worth spending time to ponder. Lots of action. Matt Damon does a good acting job. The plot has been covered many times before. Nothing that hasn't been said or written before.

The previews looked so good. We were excited to see matt damon in another movie that seemed as exciting as the bourne films. NOT SO. Just another "bad american" conspiracy plot against iraq. being that i was tricked into dishing out money for left wing expression... I want my money back! matt played his part well otherwise, but not very action packed. NOTHING like what's been done in the past. Story was dull.

Good action thriller with Matt Damon turning in his usual workman-like performance. He has become a great standard by which other hero roles are measured. Dynamic direction by Paul Greengrass.
