I'm a BIG Matt Damon/Jason Bourne fan, and after watching this movie I felt like it was Jason Bourne in Baghdad. I found it very interesting that I heard some of the same story lines from the Bourne films. The Wall Street Journal reporter was playing the role of Pam Landy, and the CIA Chief was a similar role to Noah Volson. The ending of the film was rather dull, and I left the theatre remembering how George Bush had gotten us into this big mess in Iraq, possibly for no reason at all.

This is NOT a movie for Fox "News" kool-aid drinkers. It is respectful to the players in that most of them have a contribution to make; however, it is a Matt Damon vehicle for sure. If you're going to movies to have your opinion justified or developed then you probably shouldn't see this movie, as you probably won't have enough maturity to understand the concept of dramatic license. I thought the central characters, except for the journalist, were fairly well developed. I also found the movie to be entertaining. As a statement of what really happened in Iraq or who was right or wrong or whose a patriot and who isn't; I don't develop that from movies or other entertainment venues like Fox "News" or CNBC "News".

My first recommendation would be if you plan on seeing this movie to sit as far away from the screen as possible, or perhaps in an older theater. The way the cinemotography is done often the filming is accomplished as if you are running down the alley with the person. If you are too close to the screen it is difficult to follow.As far as the movie itself, I would say the material is uncomfortable, but not to an extreme. The facts perhaps bent, but again not to extreme. Being a veteran I appreciate the portrayal of war in a non-glamorous way. For those who know war, war is a last resort. Soldiers, politicians, spies and civilians all make up a war in which this movie tries to get a grip on all.

The camera viewpoint tactic did not work for me at all. I felt sick at times like I was on a roller coaster. I can see using this technique for effect, but not for the majority of the movie. I also was disappointed to have paid money to support an obvious political agenda. I will stick to comedies from here on out.

Great story, great pacing, pretty much great all around except for the shaky cam. I don't know what the technical term is for the technique. I'm sure somewhere the makers of this film are getting kickbacks from headache medicine companies.

I thought the movie was OK. I wish I hadn't spent the money to go see it at the theater. It had a decent plot, although it was painfully predictable. There was no character development, and the videography is not "art" in my world. I agree with another reviewer, the politics left a pretty sour taste in my mouth, and I was in the military for 11 years! Plenty of action, and for a war flick, there was virtually no graphic violence. The movie felt "short" and I was left at the end thinking, wow, ok thats the end? Matt Damon is a great actor, and did a wonderful job in a painfully mediocre movie. I was also really happy to see Greg Kinnear, and he did a decent job as well. Rent this on DVD!

Seven years ago (the time of this movie) all of us were grappling with the flood of confusing concepts and threats as we went to war. The CPA, the WMD's (remember, that's why we went in!) all the "irrefutable evidence" and certainty that Saddam had WMD's.
This action movie, based on a bestselling non-fiction book by a Washington Post journalist really helps paint a picture that is made more vivid in our hindsight. This isn't crazy, speculative material, nor is it some "feel good / feel bad" movie, but an interesting, well-paced film that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Once again, Paul Greengrass does a movie without spending $20 for a tripod. Somewhere is his development as a director he decided to fake real action shots by just holding the camera 2 ft away from normal motion and jerking it around really fast - to create an illusion of action. All it does is give the viewer a migraine and disorientation. At times, the viewer has no idea who the hell is chasing who, or where they going, as in the Bourne movies. The picture also keeps switching from a regular to a grainy film grade, as if it were shot by some civilian; adds nothing to the film.
Two other points; the plot was confusing and there was zero character development.

I was completely aborbed in this movie. Matt plied his usual talent and carried the story like a loaded gun. But instead of blindly following orders his real weapon, the most devasting of all was the truth. Admitedly this is fiction, like Hurt Locker, but it is based on the facts that we were lied to about WMDs - something the rabid neocons are still denying- and they can take a pass on this uncompromising action thriller. That same fanatical dangerous patriotism that led us into this war like a an ox by the nose - is lowering the ratings with all the right wing rantings.

Great movie. I loved the plot. I have seen movie watchers decry this as a anti US movie, a liberal movie etc for portraying that WMD's were invented as a means to go to war. THERE WERE NEVER any aluminum tubes or yellow cake from Nigeria. No WMD's have ever been found. In 2006 the Lancet report indicated that the Iraq war has caused more than 654,000 civilian deaths. Our total costs-not including interest comes to an est $3.1 trillion. So no imminent threat, no WMD's, nearly a a million civilian lives and nation debt to a tune of +$3 trillion. Smart move. Well done Paul Greengrass for taking on a touchy subject. It's a shame it takes the media 7-8 years to wake up and shine a spotlight on it.

I thought the movie was good overall, but about two thirds through, I felt like I was watching "Cloverfield" all over again, and had to close my eyes about half the time from then on...at least I could enjoy the aural part of the film, which was very good. Writing about it 24 hours later and I get the queasiness again. Be forewarned if prone to this problem. Otherwise, enjoy!

Matt Damon delivers another quality performance under the direction of “Bourne” director Paul Greengrass. As a fictional, suspense, mystery, action flick Green Zone gets 5 stars ....and so does Matt Damon. The "herky jerky" documentary style camera works throughout this movie - adding to the heightened sense of urgency. The only negative is the political propaganda that is the basis for this fictional war movie. I can separate the propaganda from the movie but could not help thinking that many others will not do this ....many will not want to do it ....and many will "assume and authentic historic premise" - even though there is no factual premise such as the one at that heart of this film. See it for the quality & entertainment but remember that it is fiction.

Outstanding movie. Very realistic and most certainly raises questions about human rights violations by all involved on both sides. Who on earth cares about "politically one sided" Please, there are more at stake than political canvassing or statements. Nobody is asking Dem or Rep ! They all need help over there and they don't care who helps they just need help.
I for one would be very interested in the answers to the questions the movie is raising.

Very dissappointing; political and nonsensical. It was billed as a story about the highly trained military personnel in the bomb squads. It was anthing but.....The depiction of the resort style living in former palace of Sadam's was absurd and insulting to our troops as well...
