I went and saw this movie with a female friend of mine. Both of us left the movie deciding that it wasn't a bad movie but we could have waited for it to come out on video and rented it instead of seeing it in the theater. I will say that I did like that it points out some "flaws", for a lack of a better word, with how the system works and the reasons behind why things happen. I would recommend the movie with the stipulation of wait for it to come out on video.

Shows the real war crimes in Iraq when Bush, Cheeney, et. al. lied the USA into this war for oil and revenge. Too bad it did not come out in 2003. The real war criminals are exposed but they are now out of office and the public is otherwise distracted. Go see it in case you need a reminder how we were tricked into war.

Do not waste your money. This is Hollywood's pathetic attempt of discrediting George Bush. The entire focus of the movie was whether or not we should have been involved in war in the Occupation of Iraq The Second Gulf War Operation Iraqi Freedom, or Operation New Dawn or whatever you want to call it. The term WMD (weapons of mass destruction) was used too many times to count. It was pretty obvious as to what the agenda of the director and Hollywood was. I wasted $9.00 to see it. Matt Damon is a good actor and there was some action but overall I was very disappointed in both the script and the message.

Green Zone tries to buck the trend of Iraq War/Operation Iraqi Freedom dramas by delivering more action and thrills. Although it has not been a stellar box office performer, this is still good watching because it is well cast , tense parts, action, and mostly avoids anti-military views. Matt Damon does a good part as US Army Warrant Officer Miller, Amy Ryan (Holly, The Office) is fine in a dramatic role, Craig Kinnear as an oily political operative, Brendan Gleeson does well as a CIA officer (Mad Moody, Harry Potter) and Said Faraj is good as "Freddy" Hamza. House of Saddam fans take note: Yigal Naor brings his trademark deep voice and intensity as General Al-Rawi. Please give great credit to behind the scenes crew who turned external sets in Morocco and Spain into good facsimiles of war-torn Iraq and the early days of the Green Zone.

It's really easy these days to think of Iraq as all cleaned up, no big deal, not really much of a war at all. Besides, the real war is in Afghanistan now, right?
Just so we keep our memories green, the Green Zone is a must see. Matt Damon does as amazing job as a chief warrant officer looking for WMD and realizing there are none. It shows the ugliness of war, and makes us pause at how an entire country could have been convinced to go to war based on bad intelligence.

Green Zone" is one of the best war films I've seen in quite a while. The acting was superb and the story, action, and suspense were intense. And on a side note, many of the men who portrayed the soldiers in Chief Roy Miller's WMD inspection team were Iraqi war Vets.
Some of the violence was a bit graphic, so some women may not like it (though I loved the film, and I'm a woman). My audience consisted of teenage boys with their parents, young men, couples on dates, and older men. There appeared to be three military types there as well ... they weren't in uniform, but they came together and you can't miss the buzzed hair, attitude, and physique.
I highly recommend this film. It's a shame that some have panned it as being too 'political' or 'leftest propaganda' because it is neither. Other than the fact of no WMDs and WMDs being the reason we went to war, "Green Zone" is simply just a good war movie.

I went with high expectations for this movie, bcoz I always enjoyed Bourne series. May be because of my high expectations I was disappointed a little bit. I felt like not all the dots are connected or not all the blanks were filled.

This film is not for everyone, but it is a well-made film by a hot director and one of my favorite Hollywood actors. This film makes no effort to hide its' position on the reasons for going to war in Iraq. That may be unacceptable to some, but what can't be denied is the pulse-pounding tension and a solid cast that sells the story. I would have given it 5 stars if given the opportunity, if not for the clear good guy/ bad guy delineation we've seen many times from Hollywood. The good guys were angels and the bad guys were unscrupulous and hell-bent on corruption and lies (see Kinnear's character). This does not represent real life IMO, even though I agree with the premise of lying about WMD.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this film to other with the caveat of maintaining and open-mind and, depending on one's view, maintaining one's emotions.

My husband and I have never saw previews of this movie but when we read some of the reviews we decided we would go see it. I would have to say even though this was just a movie it was very real like. We both believe we are fighting a war that should not be happening and all because of George W. Bush. This war was not about WMD but because Bush wanted more for himself and to try and finish something his daddy started. Im just glad someone finally decided to make a movie about WMD and try and show our govement what idiots they look like and what an ASS George W. Bush made out of this country. We loved this movie.

I read the reviews on this movie before I went to go see it and it seemed like more people liked it than didn't. I decided to go see it for myself since I really like Matt Damon and war movies. It was much better than I thought it was going to be. Matt Damon is a total natural in these type of movies and he gave a great performance. It gave me great satisfaction knowing that someone stood up for what he felt was right over protocol and that he wasn't going to be anybody's puppet.
I liked everything about the movie - great story, good plot and great acting!!

The acting in the movie was one of the few things that I expected. Matt Damon delivered his usual performance: a cool, in-control soldier committed to get to the bottom of things. The supporting actors all delivered their parts well enough, with Greg Kinnear holding his usual cunning, conniving, corrupt, money-thirsty politician role. However, because, as mentioned before, the film focused on a wider picture, the acting did not put me off the movie in any way whatsoever. The one other thing which the movie lacked almost entirely throughout was humour. It's always nice to get a giggle in between moral implications and people dying all over the place.

Possibly the most realistic Iraqi war movie to date (sans Hurt Locker). A probing look at the various "sides" of the war - and an intelligent portrayal about the difficulties presented when fighting a foreign war: politics, patriotism, cultural and language barriers, arms interests, etc. Not to mention the #1 question: are we there under false pretenses and just who's interests are we protecting? The politicians, soldiers, profitiers and citizen's interests all collide for one riviting film. Great action and intense realism and a frightening depiction of what modern warfare is really about. See it.

The movie wasn't fantastic but it was entertaining. Plenty of action and I quite like the hand held camera ploy, gives it a little more life. To all those who thought it was leftist propaganda, it wasn't, it was a Hollywood movie meant to entertain, not educate. Just remember that when you go to see it.

I almost listened to people telling me not to see this movie because it didn't get great reviews from the critics...well, who the hell are they? So glad I didn't listen. This was a very powerful movie, and definitely makes you think, is this what really started it all in Iraq. Of course we would never be privy to the information, but it wouldn't surprise me. Being the wife of a veteran, I understood how Matt Damon's character was feeling about getting to the bottom of things and the need to know. If you haven't seen this, it's not a waste of your time and money, especially if your torn with the "should I or shouldn't I go see this." You should!!

This movie was great at telling a closely accurate story of what happed in Washington and Iraq. If you want to continue living your life in ignorant bliss about our government then don't watch this movie. The action was great and Matt Damon was superb in his role.
