The hurt locker has given the 'war movie' a new face, tone and imprint. The stark difference in setting from movies that are set in Vietnam or WW II. The Hurt Locker gives the audience an understanding of the differences between what perceived combat was like in other wars compared to the urban setting in Iraq. Jeremy Renner is masterful in his performance. The cowboy who never shows feelings in front of colleagues is the modern military man.

I liked the message and story of the film, I was throughly impressed by the quality of the acting. But, I was distracted by the intense style of filming. Extreme close-ups, and constant rapid, jerky movement of the camera made the film almost hard to watch. I saw the film on a very large screen and nearly experienced motion sickness. The script and story are strong enough to convey the message without the intense style of filming.

This is not a Schwarzenegger war flick, nor is it a Pearl Harbor love story. This is a truly gritty, intense movie about the perils of war and the world the brave men and women of our armed forces face everyday to protect this country. While some may see this movie as a portrayal of the Iraq War and why we should never have gone. they will miss the point of the movie. At the end of the film you see the true point of this movie, you see the true strength of character and dedication to serving their country that most soldiers feel. Such a strong dedication to their duty that despite the risks they proudly walk into the field of battle to do their job and keep us safe at home.

I must be dense but I couldn't figure out how the title of the movie related to the movie itself. The movie was good and reasonably realistic. I found the movie to be more of a documentary than what I might call an action movie. The actors and writing were good. The relationships between the soldiers and the surrounding local population seemed to be realistic. I thought the story line with the Army doctor was a little weak. All-in-all it was a good movie and worth the money to see.

I am a 48 year old female and found this movie to be fantastic. I feel sorry for our soldiers over there. The heat must be excuciating. Think about it. On constant alert. Never knowing when someone is going to kill you. Yes we do not belong over there, but we still need to support our men and women. The director who is female did a great job and the actor were great. GOOD JOB GUYS! Can you imagine living somewhere where they think nothing of strapping a bomb to themselves or someone else.

Being a war movie buff, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to like-minded people everywhere. I especially liked the segment showing long-range sniping because I am a target shooter familiar with the problem of mirage at the shooting range. The film faithfully renders the look and feel of Iraq c. 2004, but it fails to make you care about the characters, in fact it kind of makes you feel that If this man doesn't care about his own life, why should I? Because of this the suspense isn't really all that suspenseful.

I really liked this movie for its realism and emotional impact. I have no doubt that EOD technicians live in a pressure cooker like these guys do. The directing and photography were excellent. I felt like I was there. The lead actors were very good, The only borderline aspect was predictable scene with the Colonel/Counselor in the field.
Having "been there done that," I found nothing implausible. Not for kids, sensitive souls, nor a first date unless you both watch a lot of UFC action.

I found the movie to be a tough, gritty and well edited film. It is very adeptly directed by Ms Bigelow but I agree with Time critic, Richard Corliss, that is is a near-perfect film. There is a constant building of tension and anticipation to a flat-lined climax. Yes, bomb diffusers are crazy a lot, we get that, but this film doesn't tell you why or worse care.

I think 'The Hurt Locker' was a pretty good movie. I would call it more of a character study of the way different people react to modern war situations, rather than a 'war movie'. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I would have liked, because it is one of those movies that overuses the quick-zoom and shaky camera effects, which made me nauseous.

Does not pull you in emotionally. Being in the military during war time I thought this movie was going to be touching and fell way short. IF you have seen generation kill on HBO then youve seen all this before. This movie is good but nothing new. I am glad I saw it but dont think I would sit through it again.

Took my 18, 17 and 16 yr olds with me to see this fantastic movie - my 18yr old leaves in 4 weeks for USMC boot camp! Even though this was an Army movie, it was a superb movie and as a Marine, I'd recommend this to all to see a more realistic view of our war on terror in Iraq.

Extremely powerful and pertinent. Drags a bit at times, but one of the most authentic feelings films I've seen.

The intensity had me holding my breath much of the time. The framing of the shots was realistic, and had a "war camera" quality to it that made me feel almost as if I were there. This movie brings the reality of the war to me that I often forget to consider after six years of war. As someone too busy to go to the theatre, I classify movies I want to see into two categories: "must see in the theatre" and "will watch at home later." This one is a "must see in the theatre."
