Excellent movie -- based on reality and credibility. Kathryn Bigelow definitely deserved the Oscar that she got. Lots of suspense and a very good depiction of what our troops face while on the front lines. A definite "must see" for everyone.

It was suspenceful, full of action and very realistic. I don't usually like war/military movies but I was on the edge of my seat throughout this one! I'm glad I saw The Hurt Locker. I now understand the reason Kathryn Bigalow received an Academy Award for her Direction of it. It's not as bloody as I feared that it might be although the danger for the members of the bomb disposal squad is both apparent and ever present. It was very well done.

This movie just did not quite hit me as hard as I expected. Maybe seeing it post-Oscars made my expectations too high. It is a very well done film, but seeing it blind I probably would not have tagged it as a Best Picture winner, myself. The best thing it did was paint a picture of how confusing and conflicting a war such as Iraq is for the everyday soldier and it did a fantastic job of showing the diverse reactions of the soldiers to the war - something that is EXTREMELY RARE in most war movies, which tend to paint a very simplistic and "all of them are the same" picture of soldiers. Finally, it did show that war can be addicting and cause a soldier's values to get very skewed.

Only negative would be it could have been a little shorter but still earned the Academy award it received.
It is important, no matter what your thoughts are the subject of war, that people see a little slice of military life.

Pretty good wartime movie. I enjoyed it. Really illustrates the stresses our people in uniform have to deal with on a daily basis and makes you appreciate the job they do that much more.

Too much of a documentary of what our soldiers are going through everyday, Physically painful to watch after first 1/2 hour - worst 2.5 hrs I have spent in a long time. Would have left except I didn't drive. NOT entertaining in any way, just morbid - had a massive headache and felt sick to my stomach. How did this win an oscar? Very disappointed that so many find this entertaining.
