Best kids movie we have seen in years. Greatly enjoyed by the kids and the adults. The kids (both 8 years old) were laughing hysterically out loud most of the movie, and then repeated numerous lines from the movie to each other and anyone who would listen all day. We all loved it. Go see it at least once.

Okay, it was pretty good, but definitely not great. Good story line and great graphics, but literally all the funny parts are shown in the commercials on TV, so you have already seen all the jokes. Still funny, and really good for little kids. What made the movie really enjoyable was the reaction of the little kids in the theatre. They loved it! So take the little ones. My 15 year old son liked it (he REALLY wanted to see it, too) but wasn't thrilled. Won't buy the dvd, and we buy almost everything. We will buy a Minion doll however. The movie would have been truly mediocre without them.

My daughter and I saw this movie at the incomparable Warren Theater in Moore, OK and had a GREAT time.
I was laughing at everything. I love how these animated movies are putting in just enough "adult" humor that keeps the adults interested and the kids guessing. ;)

Despicable Me is a wonderfully fun, entertaining movie. Great for adults and kids alike. It is a fun hour and an half, not too long for younger kids, there is humor for all ages. I was in a theater with younger children, six and seven years old and they were laughing right along with my adult children who are 22 and 29.

Fantastic movie. My daughter (age 4) cracked up. Note: however she will now not stop staying "He's so fluffy" so be forewarned. There is a couple of quick shorts at the end of the movie, but once the credits start cycling the names in the small font, you are clear to leave, there is nothing after that. There was one scene that I had concerns with when the coffin with the spikes (no idea what that is called but if you have seen scooby doo at lease once you will know what I am talking about) where a spike pierces the little kid's juice box and it does resemble blood, but outside of that, you are in the G of PG. So good stuff, really, please go see this movie, it is worth it.

After watching this movie and Toy Story 3 as well, i didn't think I liked this movie better than Toy Story 3 which is a great animated movie as well. The 3D gimmick that they make you want to watch is not all that great. When I watched the TS 3, the 3D wasn't any different than watching the regular version. So I watched Despicable Me in regular version and it was hilarious! The minions were cute and extremely funny which made this movie the better of the 2. I do recommend this movie to all children at least 8 yrs old because any younger wouldn't probably enjoy some of the humor. It is definitely a family oriented movie and if you're a person who lived through the 70's & 80's, the final sequence is one of the best endings for a movie that I ever saw. I almost didn't watch this movie because I saw that Elgin brand was doing a voice-over of one of the main characters, (Gru's evil scientist) and I can't STAND his act at all! But thankfully I looked passed his crass personality, and watched this movie anyway and didn't regret it one bit! It is truly the best movie to watch again and still you'll laugh at the jokes!

Although the 3D movie-viewing experience is being pushed far too much, this movie makes excellent use of the 3D features. Despicable Me has something for everyone. While it doesn't have the heartstrings of a Pixar film, it does have some great performances, some great humor and some fantastic 3D effects. My 8 year old daughter was truly entertained by this movie. As far as plot goes, it was easy to surmise from the trailers it was about a supervillain who had lost his crown and wanted to use 3 little girls to regain his title, but of course, like all family movies, the 3 little girls would eventually melt his cold heart.
Having at one time worked for Lehman Brothers, my wife and I both laughed at the sign "Evil Bank (formerly Lehman Brothers)".
We watched the movie in 2D, and were more than satisfied with the portrayal of the story in such. I doubt much would have been gained by 3D (it probably would have helped the portrayal of the minion clip during the credits, but that's it).
It is definitely a kids movie, but will at least amuse all ages.

This movie is kinda like the animated Scrooge movie for kids. Gru is horrible to people, even children until some orphaned children come to live with him. I took my kids to see the non-3D version and we LOVED it!

While I tend to be weary of movies such as this, I have to admit not only did my 12 year old son and 11 year old daughter love it, but I quite enjoyed it as well. But then the whole audience must have enjoyed it as well since everyone clapped at the end of the movie.
Oh, and a bit of advice, stay seated once the credits start rolling.
A must see.
