We took the neighborhood to see Despicable Me. 14yr old boys said they came in expecting the movie to be lame, but enjoyed it and found several quotes that will enter their vocabulary. 8-13 mixed boys and girls had a blast. Adults enjoyed it (my wife stayed awake for the whole movie). As long as you're willing to go with the movie's premise (super arch villian living next door) then the characters are enjoyable and the minions are good balance of comic relief.

Not that funny but it was entertaining. I would wait till it comes out on DVD. At one point i was wondering if my kids were getting any ideas on how to manipulate their parents to get their way. Still not sure what the little yellow guys were :) All in all it made me glad I have a great wife and kids and that that is were the greatest joys in life are.

Despicable Me belongs in a list of the best CG animated movies of all time. It's that good. Underpinning the whole affair is a script with so many good jokes, it would have been an entertaining hour to just read it off the page. But once you layer on the wonderful characters complete with the most expressive facial expressions I've seen to date, you really have something. It's very funny, and so engaging the very loud child behind us (during the previews) hardly uttered a sound besides laughing all the way through. They could have gone dark with this theme, but they didn't at all. Our bad guy is at once lovable even before his inevitable and predictable change of heart. This is one we'll buy. What else can I say?

Pros: Loved this movie. Took three boys, ages 11, 9 and 5. They all found something to enjoy. And the story was entertaining enough for mom and dad to enjoy it. A must see. Agnes is great and I loved the ridiculous gadgets.

This movie really tugged at the heart strings! Although Gru's intentions for adopting the 3 orphan girls were negative to start, the more time he spent with them; the more they melted his heart! And, in the end, he chose his "3 little kittens" over his evil ways. It is a classic good triumphs over evil movie. The only negative comment I have is the way women were portrayed in the movie. Gru's mom was unable to be pleased until the end of the movie, and the director of the girls' orphanage was unpleasant too.

This movie is just pure unadulterated entertainment.
There is humor for all ages, even some subtle humor (the Gru-ray DVD near the end is clever)
Some characters resemble characters from other stories (Gru is a modern day Grinch of sorts) but it's also pretty fresh as well, probably the result of rethinking from the book Rethink, and the animation is stunning. This is a great film.
