Personally this is one of those movies you would watch after it comes out on DVD - get it from Netflix and save yourself some money. This movie was a let down, when you use the words "Brooklyn" and "Finest" in a title I would expect the movie to have a lot more action, a lot more murders, and a lot more drugs in it. What it did have was a lot of sex, and then to add insult to injury the sex that was had was disgusting dirty sex with vile whores and strung out heroin addicts. This director should have gotten a clue off of movies like The Education of Sonny Carson, and other great Brooklyn Gangster films before he attempted to make this poor excuse for a Brooklyn movie.

I would recommend this movie to people but in my opinion it was very good but you really have to watch it because it changes very fast and all throughout the movie. I think its one of those movies that is better the second time you see it because its so easy to miss things the first time around.

This is a great movie it told three separate tales,the first about a jaded police officer who had been on the force for so long that after dealing with the excesses of the job he was looking forward to retirement,the second was about an officer who was so corrupted by money that he would do anything to get it but was torn between that and trying to help his sick wife,the third was abou a undercover cop who was trying to make detective even though his hard work made other people's careers but it came with a price he had to turn in his longtime friend in order to do it.I thought it was great story and the thing is the only time they came into one another was when the friend of thesecond accidentally shot the latter cop thinking that he was a bad guy.and the only one that lived to tell was the first cop who was on his way out. I would recommend this movie for anybody who likes action and raw sex as was displayed.I give it 4stars.

I really enjoyed this movie...filled with great actors. It was not your typical shoot em up, cop action movie. It was a drama with 3 separate stories that are playing out a the same time. It is a movie about imperfect people, the choices they make, and the consequences of those actions. I think this movie is definitely worth your time.

I had very high hopes for this movie, I believed that it was going to be 10X better than Training Day. I was very dissapointed as the movie was extremely slow paced ( i understand it was a drama) and bored me time to time. The movie was awesome...yes it is sad overall, but the movies ending is very realistic to me. Looking at it from a street perspective, I saw the direction the movie was going in from about the middle and was able to guess the outcome, most people didn't see it going that direction. Great acting from ALL of the actors and I love this directors movies, always entertaining and thought provoking. I will definately recommend this movie.

I can get at least some entertainment value out of most any movie, but as much as I tried, I just could not get myself to enjoy this one! Very depressing and bad ending! Good cast, but horrible story and script! Way too much dead, boring space, and many loose ends....nothing seemed to tie together. And I have nothing against sex in movies, but the scenes in this flick were just plain sickening. Gere allowed himself to sink into a shady, slimy role even though he ended up saving lives at the end. Don't see this with a child, and not even with a date. You will end up very uncomfortable and feeling bad at the end!

This movie was a bit hard to follow at first, but hang in there. It provides an inside look at the motivation of people at a very basic level. It is a view of how organizations use their own motives to get want they want at the expense of their employees. It shows how employees are willing to cross the line of right to fulfill their needs, no matter how basic. In the end, only those who choose the side of right prevail, no matter how empty the win maybe.

Even though this isn't the type of movie that I normally like, I wanted to see it because of the actors in it. This movie was dark, authentic, extremely graphic, gritty, urban, you name it. Cheadle was amazing, and even though I've never cared for Wesley Snipes, he played this role with control and gave it just what it needed. Gere as good as a cop that's just trying to get through his last week before retirement, and Hawke is the flip side of the character he played in "Training Day". There are actually 3 stories going on at once, with them all running across each other's paths near the end. I would highly recommend this movie.

I was eager to see Cheadle, Snipes, Gere and Hawke altogether in a movie but actually they just happened to be in the same movie. Cheadle was great as usual (although his "undercover" thing is on verge of being a type-cast), Snipes was an aged, warmed-over Nino Brown, Hawke looked and played horrible and Gere was out of his element as his role/character in this movie was wholly unappealing and not credible. Overall, the movie was over-the-top graphic and the religious symbols throughout were unnecesarrily distracting and confusingly disconnected to the context of their placement...we were very disappointed and wished we had waited to rent it...

Richard Gere has always been one of my favorites and I'm not sure why he would have ever agreed to do this movie. It's not fit for anyone to watch. If I could have given it a rating of "negative stars", I would have.

I only went to see this movie b/c Westley Snipes was in it along with one of my favorite actors, Don Cheadle. Ironically, Westley Snipes' and Don Cheadle's characters made me want to boycott all gangster films starring middle aged, dew-rag wearing, street talking, drug dealing ex-cons. All of their scenes make you feel like you're watching New Jack City Part II, the Geriatric Edition. As for Ethan Hawke, he delivers as usual. But it's brutal watching Richard Gere's character?! Not sure if it's b/c of bad casting or what?! Either way, Ethan Hawke could've easily carried the entire movie on his own without any other named actors. Actually, it would've been MUCH better that way.

If you've seen Training Day...then you've seen this film. It's just the crappier version of Training Day. Movie seemed to drag...writing was sub par...the movie was disappointing and truly just awful.

I was disappointed in the movie. I went based on the stars and the clips I had seen prior to attending. The basic idea behind the movie was good but it was hard to find any redeeming value to any of the characters. I needed to find a character I could support. This is a decent rental not much more.
