Aside from the fact that had to sit three rows away from the screen, it was a great movie! Lots of action and humor.
However, there is no need for seats THAT close to the screen! I could not watch any scenes where there was fast movement or action because I thought I was going to be sick! Fortunately there was a good mix of fast and normally paced action so that I could piece the story together. I need to see it again, but I'll get there an hour early next time!

This movie has to be seen in IMAX to get the full Trekkie experience. A regular theatre would not do it justice. It had a great plot and the photography was wonderful. I love what JJ Abrams does anyway. Seeing Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto so close-up is not bad either.

Been an avid fan of all Star Treks for years. Did not care for the cute CGI glitzy-techno stuff. Science Fiction has moved on to character drama theme ( Battlestar Galactica) with a message. Hard to believe young rebel to be a Captain (couldn't look more than 26 years old). IMAX is not worthy if the film was not filmed with that technology in mind. Have seen better . Movie appeals to teenage testosterone. Good for Blue-ray DVD view.

I began watching Star Trek when I was a little girl who fell in love with Captain Kirk... I was very impressed that in this movie, the characters were treated with respect and that the movie was able to expand on what was already there. I knew I would like this movie, but I was not prepared to like it so much! Our group included my mother who is 80 and my nephews who are 9 & 15. They all loved it as well. Good job! Glad I saw it in IMAX!

Star Trek has plenty to go around for fans and novices alike. The cast is perfect and the storyline is entertaining, with background information about classic TV characters we never knew before. Furthermore, the plot allows Abrams and company to reinvent the future exploits of the crew of the Enterprise because villain Captain Nero has traveled back through time and changed their past; Abrams is not bound by the chronology of the exploits of the original TV series, which this "prequel" predates. The timeline has been changed; space is the limit. Abrams has saved the Star Trek franchise and has room to maneuver to keep it fresh for this generation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I appreciated the fact that it didn't try to pick up from one of the last episodes of the original Star Trek movies, but rather started from the beginning and showed how the original crew was formed. The best way to really enjoy this movie is on an IMAX screen. Awesome!

I've never been a fan of Star Trek until now! I went in with no real expectations and came out loving it! I'd recommend it to those who may have previously not enjoyed any of the other Star Trek movies. It's really a prequel so you don't need to have any back story info to enjoy it. Very action-packed and surprisingly funny! Captain Kirk's personality makes the movie! And for you Heroes fans, Syler makes a GREAT Spock!!

Very fun, action packed movie that reboots the franchise from day 1 without adding anything significant to the universe of Star Trek. In fact, the Star Trek universe we knew is destroyed and we are never given a good reason for this new alternate reality. Working with a license like Star Trek, you don't get to make it your own. You can only add to it. It's bigger than you. The problem with this film is that it wouldn't have made half the money it did if it didn't say Star Trek in the title. So while J.J.Abrams rides firmly on Gene Roddenberry's coat tails, he is urinating all over his grave and the license. But it was ACTION PACKED and sexy!
Bottom Line: Fun film / Good Action / Bad Sci-Fi / Bad Licensing

I was very skepitcal about how great the movie would be and if it would ruin the series for me but I was very pleasantly surprised. I'm new to this Star Trek stuff, but having a 9 y/o and husband who wanted to see it, I tagged along. I loved it! A few parts I feel could have been left out ( the brief adult content it got it's rating from-told my son to cover his eyes), but other than that, we all loved it! Star Trek lived up to my expectations. The back stories were well done with just the right amount of hinting about future personalities. I saw the Imax version and that was also a great experience. One suggestion for future movie goers, do not sit closer than you have to in your theatre. At least half way up in the middle is best. Better to be too high in the theatre than too low.

I am quite familiar with the original since my mother was a fan, and I have watched all the different incarnations over the years. I have enjoyed them all and this was no exception.
The gentle jibes at the original and changing the time line both made this something different but still all together enjoyable.

I took my dad who is a major Star Trek fan but I myself am not a Trekkie. We both absolutely loved the movie. Full of non-stop action, great plot, beautifully casted, amazing sound track, and the list goes on. The only issue I had was Captain Kirk was left hanging over the edge too many times. I know it's to make the audience intense but we all know he isn't going to die! Go see it!

Really enjoyed the new Star Trek. It was a perfect set up for introducing the old characters from the TV series in a new and interesting way. Each character had sufficient screen time to segue their integral part into the plot. Loved the casting of the new "stars" and boy, is the new Kirk a hottie! Those blue eyes.... Great action, and terrific directing. Can't wait for the sequel.

Pays too much homage to the old star trek in my opinion, especially as the movie progresses. But a good movie overall and I thought the casting was particularly good.

For trekkies, the best part is the back-story at the beginning. I found myself smiling as the various characters I have known so many years were introduced -- to us and to each other. Very young, but clearly about to grow up and become the individuals we consider our friends. Like the first years of "Smallville."
