I thought the movie was good not great. Story tried telling too much in short period never focused and followed through on one particular event or character. Definitely not enough about the villian. Final battle was week.

This movie is spectacular and once again made me proud to be a "Trekkie". -The film is visually stunning from start to finish. -Major rollercoaster ride. There is not a single slow spot to be found, insure you use the bath room before and order a small beverage. You will not want to miss anything. -The best fit for character would be Karl Urban's portrayal of Doctor McCoy. It was almost like DeForrest Kelley himself. -The character development around the villain, Nero. However, this story is about the relationship between Kirk and Spock.

I thought the movie would be good, but I was simply blown away by the plot, cast, acting, sets, tecnology, music, costumes, EVERYTHING!! The film takes a brilliant turn that paves the way for a whole new set of adventures for the characters from the original series! Simon Pegg was absolutely brilliant as Scotty. Chris Pine's performance as Kirk was spot-on & for me, he was the standout among the cast. I wasn't sure about Karl Urban as McCoy, but he was perfect! This film was everything I had hoped for & so much more. Even if you're not a Star Trek fan, you'll be able to follow the story & enjoy it. The action in this film is practically non-stop & will not disappoint!

I have seen the movie twice now and I enjoyed it both times. Some people I know feel the movie is lacking due to the fact that it "changes the original story line". In reality it does not, it is just based on the original story line. The casting is excellent. There is a lot of humor, there are sever lines throughout the movie that are very quick and very snarky. Overall the photography and the cg blended well and look amazing. I think the movie is good for any fan of the series or anyone that just likes scifi movies. There is plenty of comedy and action. You do not need to be a huge Star Trek fanboy to enjoy this film. If you get the chance to see it in IMAX I would highly encourage you to. It was completely worth the extra couple bucks.

This movie was well done. There was just a small part of the story that I did not find believable and true to the series. Great on the big IMAX screen. The only issue I had with the movie was the screen they showed it on. The projector used appeared to be very high resolution and we were able to see a screen door pattern through the entire movie. This appeared to be the screen itself showing through and was especially visable in lighter scenes. Overall good experience and a nice movie. Family friendly but not boring.

I am a Star Trek movies fan. I have seen all the Star Trek movies. I couldnt wrap my head around how they were going to change it to entice a younger fan base. They did it and did it well. New people as old charecters doesnt always work well if at all...this one defies the odds and pay homage to all the original charecters as well. Will probably see it at least 2 times more. Imax is the way to go.

Excellent movie, but I think the projector was having problems because there were annoying horizontal color bands during the bright scenes. I would have preferred to see the movie on regular film. I would have saved money too.

I'm not even remotely a Star Trek fan. I've never seen another movie in the fandom, nor have I really watched an episode of any of the various incarnations of the flick, but this movie blew me away. I have always loved Star Trek, and this movie did not disappoint! It was funny and exciting and filled in a lot of gaps and answers from the original TV version. The actors were superb. It was obvious that Chris Pine had done a character study of William Shatner's Kirk. He had it down pat, as did Karl Urban as Bones. Can't wait for more!

I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. You don't have to be a Trekkie to love the special effects and the dialogue. Bana is a great bad guy. Of course, if you are a Trekkie, you will love it too. Who can resist knowing the origins of the crew? But do yourself a favor and watch in IMAX.

I have been a Star Trek fan since the beginning. Characters I have known as part of Star Trek since the pilot.
I was so pleased to see some of my favorite older actors in the movie. I was thrilled with Spock's appearance. Ben Cross I had not seen in a movie for a while and I really like him although his roll was not a large one. I didn't notice Wynona Ryder, although I am not one of her fans so that may be the reason. Leonard Nimoy was superb as usual.
My best judgement of a movie is when you want more of it. And I want more of it. All the way home we discussed the possibilities for more Star Trek.

i enjoyed star trek but was disappointed. why? because the reviews were so enthusiastic. the second coming had nothing on this second coming of star trek. when the story was moving it was great, but i got a little tired when action was thrown in for action's sake. think the ice planet monsters and scotty getting stuck in a water tube. 10 minutes that could have been trimmed without affecting the story. anyhow, it's a good film but don't be surprised if you aren't as overwhelmed as some reviewers appear to be.

For someone who knows the original Star Trek series (like me), this movie was awesome! They nailed the characters perfectly. I was grinnin' from ear to ear! I sure hope to see sequels to this.... For people who don't know the original series (like my boyfriend) he thought it was a great movie and really funny too. GREAT JOB!!

Best use of time travel in film ever. I love that this movie has both given us a new entry into the Trek universe with a new start to the series, and allowed us to see an amazing continuation of nearly the same world, something that does, in fact, causally follow from everything we've seen before. The solid improvements in the representations of being in space were priceless; nothing about the film's content detracted, and seeing it on such a large screen was so immersive...
