Great all around. Nice nods to the past and plenty of promise for the future. It neatly ties up any conflicts with past events in the Star Trek universe and leaves you really wanting this "new" crew to "boldly go". Can't wait for another installment. It really kicked off the Summer movie season with a bang. Even if you're not into the Trek thing it's a great bit of Sci-Fi action and it was perfectly cast all the way around.

This was better than I expected. I am not a big Star Trek fan yet know SO many people who are. I loved this not only for the acting and graphics (phenomenal), yet because it reboots the story and starts from the very beginning. I can be in on the retelling of it from the very start.
I must say, if its available where you are in IMAX, see it in IMAX. We did and it blows you away with its size, sound, and visuals.
I might have to see this one more time (even on a regular screen) to just absorb the whole story and all of the series' references.

The special effects in this movie were simply incredible, and in IMAX they are larger than life. The acting was decent, there was good humor (for fans and non-fans alike) and there were subtle (including some not-so-subtle-at-all) throw backs for die hard fans to enjoy.
Chris Pine's rendition of a young Dr. McCoy was so dead-on it was border line creepy, and Simon Pegg's Scotty is priceless.
I predict more sequals, due to the clever time-line "alteration" in the script.

Being only 26 I grew up on the Next Generation and more of the modern shows. I did enjoy the way this movie was shot. The visuals were incredible and the up to date effects give it a whole new feel. I was a little concerned about the story line, the whole alternate universe thing works but something is lacking and I can't quite put my finger on it. I thought the audio effects were excellent as well and added a lot to the film. Overall well done, it's nice to have Trek back I just wonder where it goes from here.

ST far surpassed my high expectations. It keeps you on the edge of your seats and it's funny at times, especially if you know the characters from ST The original series.

I have been a fan of Star Trek my whole life. When I first heard that a remake was in the works with new actors, I proclaimed that I would not see the movie. I at first scoffed at the very idea of having different actors play these beloved characters. When I heard that Nimoy was involved, I started to get interested. After seeing the film last night, I can assure all Star Trek fans that this cast nailed it! Not only was the acting outstanding, the story, the art design, the direction... everything was as close to perfection as I could have hoped for. I absolutely loved the movie! If you are a fan, particularly of the original show, you MUST see Star Trek. To not see this picture would be illogical.

The Star Trek re-boot doesn't make warp speed weighed down with a mediocre script. Chris Pine's performance as Captain James T. Kirk is full of the over the top notes that come with trying way too hard. Zoe Saldana cutes it up in a way that is so far from the classy elegance and slow burning sensuality of Nichelle Nichols portrayal of Lt. Uhura. Zachary Quinto does not do enough to breathe life into this new, obnoxious version of Spock. I grew up enthralled with Classic Star Trek, and I was disappointed. I am still hopeful for Abrams' future ressurrection of the great Star Trek franchise.

Without spoiling the plot, I will say that I'm extremely glad I went to see this movie, and I truely hope sequels are coming. The storyline wasn't too complex, but there were a few key scenes that really explained how the original crew came together and where they came from. And the best part was the goosebumps I got when they showed the Enterprise for the first time in space....just what I should've felt.

This movie exceeded all my expectations. Even my wife who HATES Star Trek (I know) loved the movie. The fun part of the way they did this production is that whether your a newbie and have never seen Star Trek, or a Treker (Not a Trekie), you will love this movie. For Trecker's, the tongue in cheek references to the old show are hilarious and the audience loved them. The resemblance of the actor portraying McCoy is uncanny. All in all, I love this movie and foresee a whole new series of movies. I understand the next one is already in the works for a 2011 release. Live Long And Prosper!

When you think of the Star Wars prequels, you realize how badly someone can take a true quality franchise and butcher it.
This movie is the total opposite. It is true to the fokelore and myth of Star Trek, the acting is superb, the effects and production quality is fantastic, and the story line is great. Without giving anything away, it opens up many new story lines for the future.
Unlike the Wolverine movie (1 1/2 hours, low budget), this movie is 2 hrs plus and it moves quickly and tells a solid story. You won't be bored!
Its a must see! And trust me, as someone who doesn't spend a lot of money going out, this Star Trek film is worth seeing on the big screen!

I'm a Star Wars fan. I typically don't like Star Trek because to me it seems like science fiction drama, and I prefer science fiction action. This movie blew my mind. The movie was awesome! The theatre was another story. AMC advertised as an IMAX Movie, but when you arrive there, there is nothing IMAX about it. I was expecting the standard IMAX screen of 72 feet wide and 53 feet high, or larger. The Screen looked to be the standard size. When I complained to management, they said it was an “IMAX Theater”, meaning IMAX sound and IMAX picture quality. I didn’t know that there was a difference. The picture and sound seemed like any other movie theater. I paid extra for the tickets and waited in line for an hour and a half. Even with my disappointment with the IMAX Screen and the wait, the movie was well worth it. If you want to see true “IMAX” movies go to the Smithsonian.

Excellently done, the way Nero was done away with was kind of anti-climactic, but not enough to detract from the film.

Having been a huge fan of both series and movis and loving most of them (Except Final Frontier) I was skeptical about this. The story line didn't match history and then Spock shows up. They created a way to create a new franchise that can be much different than the original. Well done! Fantastic effects, story line and acting. Gotta see it many more times.

I’m a lifelong Star Trek fan. I have seen very TV show and movie many times. This movie did the franchise a great service with this reboot. What I don’t understand is how other fans do not get the fact that the events in this movie alter the franchise timeline and it is explained very well. I was a bit worried with re-doing a story that has been lived and watched. We all knew going in Kirk would live and command the enterprise, what we didnt know was how they were going to free up the future of this great franchise
Now we know, great movie, just wow.. I will go see it again

Star Trek is EASILY the best movie of 2009! PLEASE GO SEE IT! Don't miss out! And well worth the ticket price for the IMAX Experience! I will definitely be seeing it again this weekend and possibly a third time! I LOVED seeing the beginnings of the Kirk/Spock dynamic! Zachary Quinto was PHENOMENAL in this role and I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. Chris Pine was also brilliant! The real star, however, is JJ Abrams. This man... is a GENIUS!

Been a fan, but worried they were going to screw this up. NO way. Outstanding!! Builds builds, builds.... As Good as Dark Night, but not as may plot twists.... Just builds excitement.... An OUTSTANDING IMAX Experience

i have no idea what the star trek series is about, having never seen any of the shows. i can say that you don't have to be a fan to love love LOVE this film. from beginning to end it was non-stop action and adventure. plus it was funny! i never looked at my watch once, i was so enraptured in the film. highly recommend.
