This movie was incredible --- funny, sad, exciting, and compelling. Events were manipulated through time travel so that it is now possible to create an entirely new series and not be bound by the continuity of the previous Star Trek entries. None of the other Star Trek TV shows or movies ever happened--or you can think of them as having happened in an alternate timeline / parrallel universe--very imaginative! In addition to an excellent movie, the IMAX experience brought a whole new level of clarity and sound. You actually felt as though you were in the movie. There is no comparison. This is what it must have been like for people watching Star Wars for the first time in 1977 with the new invention of stereo sound.

I'm a fan of Wolverine and not really into Star Trek, but that said, this movie really kicked off summer! You won't have more fun in the movie theater and unless another Dark Knight comes out (which I still think was the best movie of all of last year) this will definitely se the bench mark. Yes, I am REALLY excited for Transformer 2, but if that movie ends up being as good as this, then I'll consider it a huge success. I might just have to enlist in Star Fleet now!

It had a nice flow to the movie, and it really had more character back story than any of the other movies.

This movie was non-stop fun. The only "problem" is that when it's over you still want more; the two+ hours goes by at warp speed. Everyone in the theater cheered as each favorite character made their appearance, it was kind of like the cheers when the new Enterprise was debuted in the first Star Trek movie.
And you don't just have to be a Trekkie to enjoy this film; my girlfriend had just as much fun and she hadn't ever seen the original series or previous movies...

OMG - Star Trek was incredible. Not a moment of dullness with action from start to finish and to make the experience even better you must see this in a IMAX theater - what a great night of entertainment this movie was. The characters were perfect - completely believable and I must say the guy who plays Bones was perfect and wow Zachary Quinto nailed the part of a young Spock. The entire cast was spot on. The story line was incredible too - with twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend seeing this film.

I am a Star Trek fan, but let's be honest, since Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, things had gone downhill with the movie franchise, perhaps the sole exeption, First Contact.
I believed that Star Trek deserved a 20 year hiatus to take a break, until I saw this movie. I was very concerned that it was going be an orign story that would ignore major points in the series. This
I must say this movie elegantly resolved the issue of keeping its "Star Trek" nature, while taking the story to new storyline possibilities.
I think the unsung hero in this movie was Anton Yelchin who "out Chekov-ed" Walter Koenig's original.

As a life long Star Trek fan, I was a little skeptical about the movie, having heard that changes were made to the official Star Trek "cannon". However I also realize that changes needed to be made to make Star Trek a little more "hip" and to draw in a new crowd of Star Trek fans. They made it all "fit" together using the old Star Trek trick of TIME TRAVEL! hahah It works really well and now Star Trek is positioned for a nice rebirth! I've been a staunch Star Trek fan for most of my life. The film did not disappoint! A wonderful mix of sci-fi, comedy, and action, this really is a Star Trek for future generations. This movie rips into action right from the beginning. I'm a long time Star Trek fan and the fact that they altered the timeline and altered events did not bother me one bit. One of the key things to creating a great story is conflict. And, this movie has plenty of them. Emotional, physical, ethical, etc. I am glad I braved the crowds to see this visual masterpiece. This is a true prequel and a true reboot.
Star Trek sets the tone for the movies opening this summer and it sets the tone for all future Star Trek movies to come. The director and the writers did an excellent job. This is proof that the're not one-hit wonders, but Hollywood's new blood!

The movie was totally awesome. It is the best movie of the year so far. I am a Trek fan and this movie is one of the best. The actors who played the well known characters were perfect. I love trek and I love to have fun. This movie has both. It has so much humor and action, that will make you love the movie even if you are not a fan and never see a trek before. The young actors and actress are good at what they do and they are all steaming hot. It has so much reference to the old trek, that an old fan could really appreciate. As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I was quite skeptical going into this film. Rebooting a franchise can be a tricky, and sometimes sad thing (e.g. the new James Blond). I'll even admit to some disappointment at the opening (felt too much like another "young prodigy born to save the galaxy" saga we're all familiar with. But by the time the ending credits rolled, I was SOLD. Each actor captured the essence and quirks of the main characters, while bringing their own turn to their role (Karl Urban's cantankerous but loveable Dr. McCoy, and Simon Pegg's Scotty were brilliant). J.J. Adams, and his talented team of writers, have created a story that boldly goes where no Star Trek has gone before, a brilliant reboot to a sadly too tired universe.

I had the pleasure of watching the movie with all ilks of fans/non fans. From those of us who grew up on the series and all it's incarnations to some who had never seen a Star Trek movie or television show. We all loved it and were ready to buy tickets to go back in and see it again (unfortunately for us, it was already sold out). The best review I can give it is, "Gene and Majel would be proud." J. J. Abrams and the stellar cast (along with everyone else who had a hand in it from script to grip) did an amazing job. This is a thinking man's Star Trek with the heart and soul of the original show. Lets face it, the Star Trek franchise was bleeding out and desperately needed something to keep if from dying. This new trek brings vitality and youth back to the series aiming for a new audience, while still keeping plenty in there for the hardcore fans. I think it succeeded in its goal, and it looks amazing in IMAX. See it for yourself.

This movie is not only great for all Star Trek Fans, it is really a very entertaining movie for all others as well. Great action, lots of fun, very good acting ! My whole family loved it !

super chingona, la pelicula esta por encima de lo que esperaba, ningun momento de aburrimiento, las relaciones tiempo espacio, futuro pasado, efectos especiales, la verdad digna de aplaudirse. Tambien hay que saber quienes son los personajes y los papeles historicos que desarrolan en anteriores peliculas de star trek, asi que hagan su tarea.

The love and caring for the Star Trek phenomenon was displayed last night. The audience laughed and cheered throughout, including me. The young actors portraying the crew of the Enterprise were a success. We are all left wanting more and soon! Incredible in IMAX. See it!

I was never really into these types of movies but I am heavily into seeing ones with CGI. I was very impressed at the syncness (if you will) of the characters and there scenes. I would recomend this movie for not only followers but to all that like CGI.

I have seen everything that has the words "Star Trek" in the title about 5-10 times but you don't have to be a Trekie to enjoy this movie! However, for Trekies, the story line is so ingenious that it makes Sci-fi for what it is, "Anything can be possible" when you have alternate universe as another demention to play with. The cast was undeniably awesome. I used to think Kirk and Spock can not be replaced until now. I am thrilled to see the franchise beathe life again!!!!
