Extremely enjoyable. loved all the campiness and references to the original. Loved Spock all over again and really enjoyed the new actors playing favorite characters. Action sequences were great. Would have loved to see more of Scottie, but hopefully there's a sequel. And wasn't Uhura supposed to be in love with Scottie?

This is a great film directed by JJ Abrams and wonderfully produced as well. The way they tied all previous story lines into this prequel of all prequels does great justice to this franchise.
one of the most interesting features is the casting and chemistry of the characters and how the storyline concludes to form the original series.
and of course, you cant resist the CGI and sheer awe it produces. I watched this in IMAX and the surround sound is a must.

I think they did a pretty good job of keep each character's personality in tact. It probably doesn't matter at all to those who didn't watch the original series, or the first movies, which featured most of the original crew. But for me, it added another layer of entertainment because some things were funny simply because I recognized it from the original series. I also thought it was AWESOME for them to use Leonard Nemoy as the "old Spok". Effects were top notch, as was sound, costumes, and ever other technical aspect. The story didn't blow me a way though. When compared to every other movie, this one belongs in the same space as the best.
Mostly, I'm looking forward to the next edition.

Loved the characters Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty and even Chekhov & Sulu. Not impressed with the romance between Spock and Uhura- that seemed contrived. Provided good backgroud clarification, great special effects- but some aspects not believable. Wouldn't that much red matter blow up the entire universe? I am no Stephen Hawking, but that seemed off balance. And the whole idea of Vulcan being destroyed- I guess that will be rectified in another time-travel adventure in the sequel. Good Grief!

Went in skeptical, came out VERY Impressed - Kirk with the "Lady in Green" - how apropos - and Beautiful!!!

This movie really gave us a boost to our trekkie spirit. Creators kept the essence of the saga and introduced state-of-the-art effects that made the movie something out of this world. The I-Max experience definitively went where no one has gone before! This is the first time I see the audience in the theater interact with the movie on two different situations. First, when Spock did the "live long and prosper" with his hand, everybody was doing it too. Second, the philosophy of Star trek (space, the final frontier, these are the.....) was like a big chorus of people reciting it in the theater. This is a must-see movie for new and old trekkies.

This movie ingeniously reboots the Star Trek Original Series with a new timeline, but with most of the familiar characters. The IMAX version seen on the true IMAX theatre dimensions was breathtaking in its detail and spectacular sound. I extremely recommend seeing this film at the full-size IMAX theatre if it's still playing, The movie has masterfully given us the backstories never explained about the early relationships of Kirk, Spock, Bones, Sarek and more. This is a "must-see" on the biggest screen you can find, especially if the IMAX version is no longer available! It's been a long while since I've gone back to see a movie in the theatres more than once, but this is going to be one of those times!

Star Trek at IMAX was excellent! New young actors gave movie it hip freshness. Love possibilities for parts 2, 3 and beyond. Nice seeing Tyler Perry doing something other than dressing up like a woman. Leonard Nimoy a bit sad with his ill-fitting dentures. Great to see him though!

The baby iMax was the only let down as I expected a 66 feet high by 88 feet wide screen. Now that is iMax to me. Oh the movie was lots of fun and the new reality is sure to have lots of twist and turns on the new Star Trek reality. This was the 2nd time seeing the movie and it was just as fun as the first.

IMAX was great, but the screen was far too small to deliver the effects that would have been done justice had the screen been twice as wide. When are people going to realize that if you're going to do a remake of a classic, you have to stay true to the characters. You don't have the liberty or luxury to "be inspired" and change the storyline. It's already been told, already been shared. You just can't change the storyline for a new generation to appreciate.
I'm sick of remakes. If you want something new, COME UP WITH A NEW, ORIGINAL IDEA to make a movie from. Stop changing the originals. Ridiculous.

I thought seeing Star Trek in Imax was great, I wish all movies could be there. I loved that even if you were not a major Trek fan you still understood and enjoyed getting to know how the characters became who they were. I would love to see it again!

This film stays pretty true to the original television show but no doubt some hard core fans will find faults in it. Don't worry about that. just sit back and enjoy the show.
The IMAX experience was a bit disappointing for me. It was the smallest IMAX screen i have experienced. On a larger (dare I say real) IMAX screen i suspect this film will be stunning.

I had high expectations and they were exceeded. Action packed, funny and good special effects. The actors did a great job of channeling the original actors playing the classic roles without resulting in caricature performances.Yet, they also brought their own personalities to the roles. A very fun movie. It's such a great joy ride, especially in IMAX mode. No doubt there's a repeat viewing of this movie in the not too distant future.

My husband and I also enjoyed a late showing in IMAX. You could actually feel the engines in the floor... We enjoyed having the actors that resembled the original cast. My husband especially enjoyed seeing "young" James T. Kirk resembling Shatner in his stance. I think even if you were not a huge Trekker you could still enjoy this movie as it has lots of action!

An excellent movie - even for the non-fan. J.J. Abram's vision for Star Trek is brilliant. Plenty of small hints for the fans, and well-crafted throughout.
Additionally, Michael Giacchino's score is excellent, and the music selection overall is very well done. The characters simply "fit"... there were no attempts to mimic. Even the cameos and minor role players were brilliant.
And, of course, seeing it on IMAX.... that's a sight to behold.

If you liked the original Star Trek, you may not like this film. The action is too fast-paced to be comprehensible, and the plot is also very hard to follow. It's a shame because behind it is an intelligent, heartfelt story. If you want to share your passion for Star Trek with your kids, they may enjoy it if they like the kind of violence you would find in video games and fast-paced thrillers, but it does not convey the spirit of the original. It seemed long and left me with a headache, though my boyfriend enjoyed it.
