The production was excellent, those elements of the 60's in UK were very well done, the music was fantastic, and the storyline was really good, it may look difficult to believe in our days that a teenager could date a older guy, but it was th 60s, parents wanted their daughter to be married with a "decent" man; she actually is ahead on her time, that dialog with the principal says all. Very recommendable.

This movie was good. Having a daughter about the same age, couldn't understand why the parents were OK with her dating a 30 yr, old. Good story and glad it ended the way it did.

This film was an incredibly enjoyable viewing experience. A strong ensemble cast bolsters the already marvelous performance of Carey Mulligan, whose wide-eyed ingenue-ness is reminiscent of Hepburn in "Roman Holiday." Though I found the ending scene with its voice over to be a tad contrived, it did not detract from an overall wonderful film. The coming-of-age theme - while not particularly innovative - is well fleshed-out, and I especially love the vignette in Paris when a shift in cinematography and camera work allows the viewer to feel as though they are experiencing a foreign yet beautiful place for the first time, paralleling the on-screen experience of Mulligan's Jenny.

I really enjoyed and actually paid attention to the whole movie. The storyline was interesting and I couldn't find any holes in it. It represented the life of a teenager at that time; and being a parent. It also reminded me to ask more questions. An older man isn't going to "date" a teenager without having secrets. Lastly, the music was fantastic. I purchased on itunes the minute i got home.

The movie is based on a memoir, so any predicatblity in the story has to be attributed to real life itself. Carrey Mulligan performs well as the 16 year old who is too smart for her own good. Sarsgaard is equally good as the man who seduces her and charms her parents. The period is captured well -- early 1960's, The Camelot and pre-Beatles era that was a more innocent time than the later years of the decade. So it's understandable that the girl's parents are just a wee bit unsophisticated. (dim) For such a quiet story, the film moves at a brisk 90 minutes. This is not for the District 9 crowd. It is something of a cautionary tale for young ladies who think they are wise beyond their years.
