Rock did a great job - there were a few serious moments but he made light of the situations in a respectful way. I was laughing in my seat for most of the 1 -1/2 hour film. I would recommend this movie to anyone! I'm sad that it's not playing in more theaters in Mass.
Go see this movie while you can, or at least rent it!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Through humor Chris Rock pulls back the covers and exposes a very painful secret among some Black women...the hatred of the natural African textured hair. Black hair is big business generating billions of dollars of which the majority is not Black owned. Can you imagine the positive change this income could generate in our communities? GO SEE THE MOVIE!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I took my mother to see this movie and we both enjoyed its scope, depth, and true sense of comedic timing tied into a clear message that was being delivered. As an African-American male this is not so much of an issue for me, but I grew up in a house full of women who underwent the process of putting those chemicals in their hair. For those that have yet to see the movie...watch very carefully what happens to those cans over an elapsed period of time. Talk about things that make you go hmmmm! All and all, an enjoyed movie that makes a timely reference to something that has been going on in the Black community for decades.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary! Chris Rock is always so funny. I am an African-American woman and could truly relate to a lot of the things going on in the movie. I was educated on the Indian custom of the shaving of their hair. I did not know this! Thanks for a great show!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Chris Rock leads us all on the role and importance of hair in the life of black women. Chris is an appealing and droll personality, and makes the ride fun, though the movie is sometimes too slow. There were surprises here for me, like where the hair for all those weaves comes from, how much the weaves cost, and how protective black ladies are of those weaves. Chris keeps us smiling about the silliness of all this preoccupation with hair.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Chris Rock returns in this hilarious and powerful documentary about Black women and the enormous amounts of money they spend on thier hair.
It may not seem like a subject worthy of a film. But in fact it is! Chris takes you behind the scenes, from the salons in America to the "human hair" factories in India.
And with a plethora of interviews, from Ice-T to Maya Angelou, you get real funny and candid commentary.
As a father of two girls, Chris also examines the social side of "hair processing" and how it can effect the self-esteem of young African-American women.
In the end, you have to ask: Is all the money spent, and exposure to chemicals, really worth straightening your hair to look more European?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The most intriguing segment in the film is when Chris travels to India, where most of the donors of a majority of the hair used for weaves and wigs lives. Most of the hair comes from the heads of devout Hindu women. They shave their heads in a religious ceremony and an opportunistic businessman scoops it up and exports it for sale at high prices. That part of the film was just an unsettling discovery to me. Businesspeople profiting from the religious fervor of the poor and uneducated. This doc should've been on tv.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
