This was more of a documentary than a movie. It's not what I expected. It should be on the "Learning channel", "Science channel" or "Discovery channel" as a free documentary and not a movie. If I knew this prior to buying my ticket, I would have seen something more entertaining.

As an African American woman, I knew a lot of this information because of my age. However, this documentary was very insightful, it gave helpful information about health issues that could evolve because of use of some products that we use. I thought that it was well put together and very funny. I would certainly recommend this movie to others. Chris Rock did a fantastic job.

It was hilarious. It was insightful and much needed. It was at times very sobering. It paints a picture as though it is just women with weaves and/or perms who are most concerned about their hair. That is not always the case, many "natural" women have as much pride and concern of their hair as well, it should have definitely focused some more on natural women. But it was definitely a good watch.

Great movie! It told a lot of truths about black women and their hair. I didn't agree with all parts because I don't wear weave. But the majority was true. It is sad to know that we will pay more for hair then we do mortgage.

I am a Black woman who wears dreadlocks, I wish he had even more on women who choose to go natural and why. Also, there was no mention on the first black millionaire, Madam CJ Walker, who made $ from hair products. I have seen other films on black hair, and having a woman research and tell the story gave slightly different responses (the nature of qualitative research). But my girlfriend and I still laughed and hollered, lots of great stories and perspectives. Go see it.

Good Hair was a comedic portrait of what we African-Americans experience throughout our lifetime when it comes to our hair. I appreciate the celebrities that were candid about their hair history because somehow that DOES seem to ease the tension about discussing this sensitive subject in mixed company.

It seems that the rather obnoxious and loud Chris Rock will never write and produce a documentary like the venerable Michael Moore. There was interesting material here but it gets rather tedious. The film has some of the most stupidest people in America and interviews with obscure actors. There is quite a tinge of racism against Asians and Whites as if all black products should only be black owned. When Rock visits India, he plays the ugly American to the core and is obnoxious to the people and their culture just for some cheap laughs to self-aggrandize himself. This low caliber documentary plays like it belongs more as an HBO special than a full fledged movie release to the theatres.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Laugh out loud funny and bittersweet at the same time. I hope everyone sees this and not just members of the black community. Great for anyone over say, 15 (explicit discussions of how weaves affect ability to have "relations") who wants to laugh and also consider larger issues.

Chris Rock does what he does best, insightful commentary on the ludicrous behavior humanity has perpetuated and sincere windows into the Hair Industry.
This film does not delve deep into the psycho-social impace of Good Hair vs. Bad Hair. It does focus on the Hair care industry in America related to Black folks.
Lots of laughts and good information.

This movie is a hilarious, yet sobering account of the how the care of Black hair is such a big business - it is a multi-billion dollar industry that has been wrestled away from the control of the Black community. More than 60% of all hair care products are consumed by Black people who come in at 12% of the US population.
It was an education in Black history through the lens of Chris Rock's wry humor and disdain for his daughter's self-hatred. I feel is was an EXCELLENT movie because it not only informs, but it also entertains... a rare combination these days (definitely on par with some of Michael Moore's movies)!

I thought the movie was very informative about perm products and the power of the chemicals used. Also, children under 3 should not have perms in their hair. These mother's are crazzzzzy not lazzzzzzzzy. I don't care how nappy it is...take care of it! Their mother's took care of theirs...brush it, grease their scalps, keep it braided! WOW! Also, black nappy hair is beautiful...it's not what's on top of your head, it's more of what's between your ears and in your heart! All women are beautiful, it's a natural beauty. Just be thankful for your hair...some women don't even have any?? Go figure!

I liked some parts of the movie but not enough to give it a higher rating. I know this could have been organized and presented much better. Rock didn't interview other cultures and their perspective of black hair. Also, those of us who are natural were not represented adequately. I didn't appreciate the constant 4-5 celebrities being interviewed. What about the common black woman. I didn't care for the hair show bit. It is irrelevant to me what goes on at the hair show. I want to know what black women, who are responsible, employed professionals are doing every morning in front of the mirror. I would have also liked some mention of Madam CJ Walker. It was a waste of money and time as far as I'm concerned. Wait until it comes out on DVD.

I am amused some write that they are "offended" or "degraded". It is NOT that kind of film or presentation to say the least. Its more informative than you would think and funny in appropriate spots to ease in the truth.White female audience members were commenting on the way out how they were so surprised it was actually a "documentary" than it was a "Tyler Perry spoof as it appeared marketed as.
No matter what, Black women will do what they wish with their hair and no apologies are necessary for it in my book. We are not our hair but it remains a political statement. To this DAY, and its almost 2010!
Bravo Chris! I felt it was a job well done!

I went to go see this movie because I thought it would be a honest review of black women and their hair. As expected, the movie was funny. However, I thought the way it represented black women was completely inaccurate. Does Chris realize that there are plenty of black women who never wear weave? Who wouldn't rather get their hair done than pay the bills? As a black woman, it just wasn't representative of myself or most black females that I know. He completely left out the middle class, educated, professional woman.

So funny, unforgettable characters, and moments that really made you think. he literally "got into our heads," and gave us a great way think about what something as simple as not loving our hair really means. Every woman should see it. But again, I have to go back to the fact that at the end of the day, it really is a hilarious movie.

Being a Mexican born in CA I found this movie to be very funny. I laughed so hard because Chris Rock made it funny. He also made a person think as to why things are done as they are. I grew up and hung out with sistahs and brothas my whole life and hair was always a topic that we talked about. So to me this was not a surprise. I would suggest that everyone go out and watch this movie with an open mind. Theres alot of history in this movie such as why James Brown asked Al Sharpton to straighten his hair. And it ends with it doesn't matter whats on your head but what in your head.

I found this movie very degrading to my black sisters. Viewers will leave this movie thinking that all black women has short hair. This is so far from the truth. We do love our hair. Extensions are just an accesory, for a different look. The men were calling us out of our name.Chris Rock exploited his own women, and I found it offensive,
