Would be too predictable and a bit hokie except it's a true, and truly inspirational story. The dismay and fear of white South Africans over President Mandela reminded me of American conservatives over Obama's election. If only Obama could find his equivalent of Springboks & World Cup to work the magic of reconciliation. The transition happens more quickly and easily than in real life, but that's Hollywood. Damon & Freeman both excellent. (kudos to Damon on nailing the accent). Rugby scenes are good fun -- rugby players are clearly insane. The big myster yis why there aren't at serious casualties at every match.

I absolutely love Morgen and think he is one of the best but why he did this film....? I found it boring and too long.I expected better. It just didn't do it for me. Sorry.

I saw the movie based on the 2 main actors , Freeman and Damen and director , Clint Eastwood. The story really lacked any "meat" and there were too many long stares and prolonged time dedicated to rugby. Also several unexplained events . What a disappointment !

Excellent film. Very inspirational, brilliant acting. However, am I the only one who remembers the food poisoning scandal involving the NZ All Blacks the day before the grand final? Half the team were bed ridden let alone able to train the day before the match, it was nearly called off. Perhaps it's irrelevant in comparison to the larger perspective of the movie......

The movie tries to tell a righteous story, which may be true to a certain extent whereas Mandela went through heck in order to bring his country back to civil rights as much as humanly possible (although some South Africans I know tell me that the Matt Damon character was not a nice guy - I won't say what they told me - &, as mentioned in the movie, probably helped to brutalize the population more than admitted in the flick). The various bar-scene celebrations were the director indulging his film but way overdone & too long.

Excellent movie. Really captures the spirit of South Africa's rainbow nation and the time when relations were fragile and mistrust was common. Morgon Freeman was Mandela down to the subtle hand movements. Many small things that only a South African could pick up were done correctly. What a man, what a nation. I wouldn't know about the rugby - never understood the rules.
