As a 14 year old girl who recently lost her grandfather to cancer this movie took its' tole on me, but I was also very distracted by how completely different it was from the book. I think most people make comments saying that they couldn't stop watching it because it was so incredible the obstacles that this family faced. I cried throughout the entire movie, however the book is so much easier to relate to, and at the same time SO much harder to try to imagine what they had to go through. It really tries to place you in their shoes. I think if you are trying to get the full effect of the movie and the message the author was trying to send you NEED to read the book. LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE. =]

i usually dont cry in movies..but i balled in this one. i guess its cuz i recently lost a close family member to cancer. in one of the closing scenes, they played the same song that was played during my famly member's burial, so that hit me hard and started the water works. shouldve brought tissues. i wanna go see it again.
loved the music and story of this movie. my dad used to sing the song tiny bubbles to me when i was little. brings back memories. great movie, probly my favorite now. im going to read the book now!

I have never heard of a movie adaptation from a book that COMPLETELY changes the end of the story. Movie was done fairly well. As usual, many of the important details left out. But the most disappointing and shocking change was the end. They completely destroyed the story and the intent of the author for the ending. I sat there in disbelief as I watched a completely different ending from the book. Sad. Bring kleenex if you go - you will need it all the way through the movie. Also, I don't remember the teenage $ex scene in the book as portrayed in the movie. Typical Hollywood - it's just not a good movie without $ex - right?
