This movie will definitely make you cry! There are a lot of things in the book that were left out of the movie, and actually many things were different. There were a few things I expected that I didn't see and so it left me a little disappointed. But it was still a great movie. Abigail Breslin is great!

The move was very good! A tear jerker for sure. I feel the movie left out a couple of key storylines.. but I would still recommend anyone to see it. The ending did not end as good as the book did either which caused me to "What" outloud in the theater... my daughters sorta sunk in their seats.. I kept telling them that the best part was coming.. and it never came! PS>>> Cameron Diaz can act in a mature role, which was great to see; she did a great job!

This movie was very good! I would recommend this movie to all. You will definitely need kleenex, as this is a tear jerker. The ending was different than expected and I was somewhat disppointed with the ending. The ending in the book was much more creative. Overall, It was a good movie!!

I’m calling it a “must see” and make NO mistake about it, Kleenex is required. Anna (Abigail Breslin) is brought into this world for ONE reason, to be spare parts for Kate, her dying of cancer sister. And after countless surgeries and procedures Kate has had enough. Dealing with Cameron Diaz (the Mom) will take patents. That’s all I’m telling you about it. One more thing. The movie jumps back and forth in time so you need to pay attention.

This movie will rip your heart out at times, but the acting and the story are worth the watch. As good as Abigail is as a young actress, Sofia Vassilieva who plays the sick sister in just excellent and obviously has the much more difficult job. All the adult actors, Diaz, Baldwin and Patric are great in their roles as well.
Go see it.

This is a fairly faithful adaptation of the book. The telling of the story from each characters viewpoint worked well, although I would have liked to hear more from hunky dad (played by Jason Patric)
I went with my teen daughters (who had not read the book). The 15-year old enjoyed it the most. It was harder for the 18-year old as I am still in adjuvant therapy for breast cancer. I doubt I will watch it again; once was enough.

The movie was very heartfelt and touching. It tells of an everyday family dealing with a critical illness. I saw the movie with my 17 year old niece and we were both crying. I bought the book, but I haven't read it yet. I saw the movie first. I can't wait to read it. I would watch the movie again.

A sad but wonderful movie. Good acting. A little heavy. My friend and I had to go shopping to cheer up after watching it. :)
It was very close to home for us both. I lost my husband to cancer and she finished treatment for breast cancer a year ago.
It makes you think about life and the choices you would make.

This movie touches your heart. It is very sad, I counted how many times I cried and it was 17, I was crying after the movie too. I loved this movie. It shows how some families can be very heart warming. And my daughter told me sometimes she can relate to this because she feels as if I care for my baby that has a syndrome more than her. It made me realize a lot and I think that was the real reason for my tears. It is a great movie. Recommended.

While the acting was wonderful and story many of us must daily live, i was very disappointed in the lack of hope exhibited in the movie. We are all given a choice to look up and trust God has a plan for our lives and the peace our eternity with our loved ones and God or we can turn our fear into self centered focus. I have never read the book so this is a movie review only. That said it seems apparent the movie took plenty of detours from the book along with a few major re-writes....so say those that have read the book & seen the movie. The movie had a good pace, tight editing, top notch cinematography and great acting by Breslin and Vassilieva! Yes - we are being manipulated and coerced to feel sad, strong emotions - sometimes in a much too direct way. Yes - the acting of Diaz and Baldwin is not as good as we would like. Yes - the story is too pat, a bit too clean and a bit too "Hollywood-ized". All that and it is still worth a theater viewing for all of the positives it is laced with. L'chaim!

The producers and writers of this movie really stuck their neck out by doing a story that is very contraversial in this country due to engineering a child for treatment of a sick sibling. Avoid this mish mash of a movie. Mediocre acting and disjointed direction resulted in an average flick.
Cameron Diaz was weak. She was not convincing as the controlling mother. Jason Patrick was much better as the dad. The lone bright spot was Abigail Breslin. She was electric.
The director introduced characters - like the brother and the aunts - but did not develop them. The movie was a gut wrenching mess.
Every time Alec Baldwin was on screen, I could not help but think about 30 Rock. I was waiting for Jack Donaghy to yell for Liz Lemon. The problem was that Baldwin's character was a serious lawyer.
Wait for DVD -- and then watch if there are no better alternatives.

I didn't read the book, but I understand that this was slightly different.
This is one of those movies where the audience is hushed throughout. There are a few comedic moments to lighten the mood, but most of the movie is thought provoking and sad. Not depressing... but I found myself thinking...what would I do in this situation. There are many tearful moments throughout the movie, so bring plenty of tissues. Sofia Vassilleva did a wonderful job as Katie.

It is rare to see a well made movie, that is not a bunch of killing and destruction. I did not read the book and it supposedly differs, but so what? The story was poignant and hits home if anyone has ever been touched with dreaded cacncer. Yes, parts were superficial but hardly noticed when engrossed in the film. All of the actors were great. While I am in the minority, I think it should be nominated for an Academy Award.

This movie was so unorganized for me to even like it. Plus there was not enough character development to let me get attached to the people in the movie to cry over. They would go from the past to the present again and again. I never read the book but its probably a lot better too. The actors did a good job mostly the sick girl she was great but I couldn't enjoy! But most people will enjoy this who are not picky with their movie but sorry I am!

I had high expectations for this movie, and for the most part "Keeper" delivered. The younger actors were outstanding; Diaz held her own in her role as a mother in denial, and Jason Patric really stood out for me as a loving father who found himself helpless in the face of a cruel reality. Parts of the movie are hard to watch, but even with the inevitable tears, there are lighter moments that keep "Keeper" from being a pure downer. I didn't read the book, so I can't compare. I do think the film was a bit over-hyped. For a first-night showing, the theater was only half-full. I suspect the film will not live up to the publicity generated before it was released.

I had read the book so was very excited to see this movie. As many have said before the ending was a complete surprise. For those with me that didn't read the book I had to explain how it should have ended. I thought the acting was wonderful but wish they would have stayed true to the book. Jodi Picoult's books usually have a shocking twist to them and this movie didn't follow that at all. I would recommend this movie but if you've read the book be prepared for a letdown in the end.

I found the movie to be very different from the book. I was very happy to see that it didn't have all the adult themes that the book did have. And the character Jesse was very tame compared to the book. Over all I found the movie to be very enjoyable yet very sad. It brought to light the subject of designer babies for the sole purpose of being a donor for a sibling . I would see this movie again and will look forward to the release on dvd or bluray.

If you haven't read the book, the movie is excellent the acting is good and holds pretty true to the characters as written--hence my 5stars. If however you read the book and expect this amazing story to unfold before your eyes on the big screen--DO NOT GO as you will be very disappointed by the change to the ending Why Warner Bros. decided to change the ending and by doing so completely change the meaning of the book would be interesting to know. According to Jodi Picoult's website--she had no say in the change. Sad because people who haven't read the book are really missing out on the beautiful story as it was originally written.
