I walked into this movie expecting it would be a serious tear-jerker. Yes, there were moments that made me tear up, but there were moments of levity, as well.
More than the emotions of watching a teenager make the brave decision on how to handle her own life (and death), this is a rare story of how a child's illness can tear a family apart, or make it stronger.
It was wonderful to see Abigail Breslin growing into a slightly more adult role, and seeing Cameron Diaz do something other than the ditzy blonde thing.
We personally witnessed a family go through the pain of a terminal illness many years ago and saw the tragedy that was wrought over that particular family, so this movie to me was actually uplifting at the end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I consider that both Anna and her sister are brave, but while I watched this movie, I think a person's disease may make family go crazy.
Many problems appear while Kate got sick. Though it's hard to accept the truth that someone you love will die soon, we should let him/her go. Therefore not only the patient but also we would be free.

I was touched beyond words! I knew the story before I saw the movie, if you didn’t read the novel yet, you might not understand all the plots, because there were many parts which skipped from one subject to another. The ending was so obvious that many people could guess the upshot.
I think that movie should loyal to the original novel! I like the ending of the novel more, because it let me incredible! Anyway, I was very happy to see the movie, it let me know that I should treasure my dear family before they still alive.

I really enjoyed this film, however it was very predictable. I do agree about her lips....get the girl some chapstick! (lol) Anyway I am a 'teen' cancer suvivor and I thought the way the story told how the kids grew up facing this horrible disease was portrayed well. Particularly the dance part...that happened to me and it brought back many memories - LOVED IT!

I have read the book and this is such a good rendition of Jodi Piccoult's story. It is a story of sisters, family, medical dilemmas, love...and most of all immortality. I left the movie feeling all of those things. Yes, it is a tear jerker. But, as a parent it really exemplified the choices that we make. And, that sometimes we are truly powerless to save our children no matter how hard we try. Sofia Vassilieva was amazing as Kate.

Story even if fiction is very much based on reality and the dilemmas scientific & medical breakthroughs inevitably give rise to. Like the proverbial "genie in a bottle". In the end, it is not just facts that should guide us but our very basic humanity!

Well, everything possible was done to this story to elicit every possible emotions - but the one main emotion: satisfaction! It is not a horrible movie - just way too contrived. Come on already - I'm surprised they didn't throw in a three legged puppy. Then there is the poor girls lips! Yoiks! Didn't she have access to chap stick? I am sorry, but I found myself staring at the weird makeup job, rather than thinking this girl looked to be dying. Anyway, Jason Patric is still a looker and Joan Cusack was, as always, the best. See it just for her if you need a reason!

The fact that the family, the mother in particular, felt so much of a lack of hope is what prevents this movie from getting 5 stars. The mother is willing to sacrafice one daughter to simply prolong the life of the other. It raises many questions about whether or not we should be meddling in God's work. The move itself was very well done, touching, and the acting was exceptional. I would strongly recommend it.

First off, I should start by saying that I LOVE the book... and knew going into the movie that they were changing the ending. But I still wanted to see the movie anyway, even though I thought I might be disappointed. The movie was good, had some great scenes and was able to capture the emotional feel of the book. The acting was spot-on, especially Sofia. I just feel that there were too many changes from the book to the movie, and they weren't necessary changes. Overall, the movie is good but could be so much better.

Very, very disappointed that the movie did not end as the book did. The ending of the book is what made you never forget the book. I am an avid reader but have a hard time remembering titles and plots of books I have read in the past, however there are some books you never forget. "My Sister's Keeper" was one of those books. However I would still reccomend the movie. Great acting, beautifully filmed!!

This move was very touching, it was a great move but the fact that they didn't stay true to the book turned me off. While watching all i could think about is all they left out. i know many people say this about books that are turned into movies, but there were drastic differences. Many characters were left out, characteristics of main characters were forgotten, and the ending was drastically different. i don't believe that this movie lived up to Jodi Picoult book. Over all it was a good movie that i would recomend to movie goers but i would also recomend not reading the book before you see it! Bring your tissues and be ready to be touched by this story of a family trying to keep it together for their sick daughter.

Based on the New York Times Bestseller, Nick Cassavetes, who directed 'The Notebook', films Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Joan Cusack in this year's most touching film, 'My Sister's Keeper'.
This is just like the book and it has wonderful actresses and actors in the cast. This film may have a good spot in the next Academy Awards event. You never know.
I believe that this film will be in theaters for a long time due to its popularity and its touching story.

The premise for the film is genius and the film was incredible. You must know that I am a 62 year old Vietnam Vet (Air Cav pilot) and wept through the entire film, but I knew I would do so but really wanted the experience of seeing this film. I had seen the trailer many times since I am a trailer checker and that is my work. I did not read the book, but in reading other reviews, it seems that the ending was not true to the ending in the book. Frankly, I felt the entire film was outstanding but the ending left me cold and disappointed. I would have chosen a different ending, and suspect that the ending in the book would be much more satisfying. Nevertheless, you MUST see this film. But bring a couple hankies or a box of Kleenex.
