Although I left the film enjoying it, I ultimately felt it was not at all what I expected. Having never been to Tokyo myself, I imagined I would be seeing lots of flashy neon lights and densely packed urban environments. Maybe that's just an ignorant outsider's view. Anyway, I found the film to be very dark, surreal and heavy at times. There was an overriding feel of bizarre quirkiness through the 3 films, but in the end, I'm not sure if the exclamation mark in the title is really appropriate.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Tokyo! veers between sweet, slightly funny and poignant in the first of its three stories, to painful and cring-induing in its second story, to odd and kinda creepy (not in a good way) in its last story. Bottom line: don't waste your time. If you're bored and happen to see it in the video store, at least watching it on DVD allows you to fast forward through the slow and annoying parts.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
