WRONG MOVIE

The ballet movie we were shown was at the Royal Opera House in Covent Gardens, London.
We thought it was the Russian Ballet and soon found out. But it was great, the dancers magnificent. The sets were a bit dark, adding perhaps a sense of mystery. As usual Nutcracker is an annual favorite and I've seen it in many places. Very glad that more Ballets will be available in the movie format.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is incorrect, The film shown was Royal Ballet at Covent Garden,London not the Kirov from St.Petersburg but it was wonderful so I didn't ask for a refund for the missing hour (running time 1:45).I'm sure the film we didn't see was wonderful too but reviews apply to Royal Ballet version.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I did enjoy this version of the classic. It was different for any other I have seen, A Little Dark in the set design. I still enjoyed as did the friends that went with me.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A different Nutcracker

This Russian "Nutcracker" is closer to the original, I would think. I am familiar with the Ballanchine interpretation which I have seen at the NYC Ballet many times.
In this one, the stagecraft is very different. The sets more opulent.
The dancing in the final portion of the performance was most enjoyable.
I am happy to have seen something "new". However, I have enjoyed the NYCBallet version more.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I agree with other reviewers that this Nutcracker was darker and scarier than any other version I have ever seen. The sets were very austere and drab - very old country Russia. The principal dancers were good, but the choreography seemed lacking. I thought it was a bit intense for younger children.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This was the worst nutcracker We have ever seen!!! It was scary, lacked dancing - mostly strutting around. Give me a Baryshnikov nutcracker any day
This performance certainly was not a Christmas worthy entertainment
