The casting was excellent and the screenplay was solid and well thought out. They were able to seamlessly combine all 5 movies into one cohesive and inevitable story. The fight scenes were well choreographed and easy to follow due to excellent camera work. The special effects have always been top notch, but they managed to out due themselves especially with Iron Man. All in all, pure enjoyment from start to finish. Easily one of (if not) the best comic book adaptions movies to date. The bar is set to Asgard.

Best family film in a very long time. Well done! It is truly a must see. Even for those that dont really like comic movies, like myself, i thoroughly enjoyed this one...plus it was funny, action packed, contained all the necessary elements to keep my attention

I am not into a lot of comic book movies, but this was awesome! I had seen Thor, but none of the others, so after seeing this I caught "Ironman" on DirecTV the next day. I wish now I had seen them in the theaters since they lead into this! Go see this movie! Unless you are an ubernerd I would not pay the extra for IMAX or 3D though- the regular movie is just great.

The movie overall is fantastic, there's no doubting that. If you're a comic enthusiast you can really get into the story and roles wholeheartedly, being that they were very loyal to the source material. There were only two things that seemed to bother me a bit.
1. The slow start. Yes, it has action, and yes they present all the characters to you very quick so they don't flirt with it. But it was still a lot of dialogue that unless you're a comic geek, it's kind of boring because you just want it to get to the punching and explosions. So the first hour or so is okay, not great.
2. Too many jokes. Most of them were great, and the audience would laugh at them, but some would fall flat. There were too many inserted even in scenes that were meant to show their human side, thus messing up the scene buildup.
I will still gladly see this movie again, and probably end up owning it. It was that good. There were bits of amazing acting, but most of all, the action was amazing. And for us comic book nerds, the first credits scene that shows the new villain was... well, I still get chills.

Marvel’s Avengers is pure fun, a perfect mix new age dazzle and good old-fashioned charisma. Marvel-ous! It is the best movie that I’ve seen in years. It’s amazing to see it with a rockin’ crowd in a packed cinema! I know many movies claim to have something for everyone but this one manages to pull it off while remaining interesting and compelling all the way through. There are spectacular action scenes as well as heartfelt, intense moments. There is humor and fun but it’s a serious, well made film. It’s everything a movie like this should be and more.

I wasn't looking forward to seeing the movie. We really were tired, but our son insisted on going to the movies yesterday. OMG I was stuck to the screen from beginning to the end. Being 35 weeks pregnant I was actually holding it because I didn't want to miss anything. What a great movie this was. I am so telling my friends to watch this, it was worth it. No wonder it was #1 over the weekend!!

Avengers is a terrific and fun superhero movie: not deep by any means, but fast-paced, funny, and true to the spirit of the characters and the comics. Robert Downey, Jr. naturally tries to steal every scene he is in, but his co-stars actually hold their own, making for a real ensemble film.

I''ve been waiting over 5 years for this movie to come out and it surely didn't disappoint! This movie really brought all of the previous hero movie characters together seamlessly. I enjoyed how the character's personalities, although a bit awkward at first, ended up working together. The actors and actresses had chemistry and made the film magical. it had all of the ingredients to make for a blockbuster film; action, drama, comedy, suspense, great special effects, and cinematography.
Just like with any Marvel movie, be sure to wait unill ALL of the credits are finished! :-)

Phenominal Comic Movie, probably one of THE best to date. Story plays out well considering the surprise after credits. Downey Jr as Stark is SPOT ON hilarious/cocky as Stark is meant to be. Much to my surprise, Mark Ruffalo was MORE than an exceptional change to the Banner character. He not only played it dead-on as the reluctant scientist type as is penned in majority of comics thru the years, but he does it with a knack that even as a fan of Norton, I have to give the "Thumbs Up" to Ruffalo, a Superb Banner/HULK character.
The toned down regard to Captain America was a bit of a disappointment but the Unleashing of Iron Man and HULK in the fight/battle sequences is more than enough to sate that till the sequel.
Thor is done quite well, better by far than in his stand alone intro film.
A PRIME way to spend two-two and a half hours either with the family/kids or alone and well worth the price of theater tickets today!
Pros well paced, great actors, great action/fight scenes, well placed humor, acceptable material for entire family
Cons a dim spotlight on a very important character

Every other movie that comes out this year, better have had an army of Oscar winners during production. The Avengers is solid. Plain and simple fun! Staying pretty true to the Marvel Universe, while giving us the antics we enjoy. Casting Was genious! Thank you for saving The Hulk's legacy! I will watch it over and over! Oh... for Joss Whedon to do Wolverine 2! (Hint Hint)

The movie started off a little slow, but the storyline is relatively good and a nice way to introduce how the avengers came to be. The technical aspects are cool, definitely in line with what moviegoers have come to expect of action flicks in the 21st century. The ending is sort of cheesy, and of course we know there will be sequels so the audience is not surprised at the cliffhanger. Oh, and as mentioned, the US version has a cute little extra at the end of the credits. Most people left before then, but it was funny, well not necessarily funny, but expected. All in all, a nice movie for the family to see. Not overly sexualized or vulgar, and full of action.
