As a long time comic book fan, I watch super hero films with a grain of salt. I never try to be over-critaical because I know they can't get everthing right. The Avengers did just that however. They got everything right! I can't say enough good things about this movie. Robert Downey Jr. was exceptional and I believe he stole the show. Great movie!

This is hands down the best Marvel movie yet. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were good, but this movie was great. There was just the right amount of humor and each character had the appropriate amount of screen time. No character out did another, except maybe the Hulk. The SFX were amazing, the score was incredible and the movie was the perfect length. I really hate 1.5 hour movies. 2.5 is more like it, especially for something like this.. Here's to the Avenger's 2. Amazing movie. Well dont to Joss Wheddon.

Seriously. If you need your hand held on the decision to go see this movie you probably shouldn't be walking around unsupervised.
When Iron Man was released, after the credits (This is only a spoiler if you've been imprisoned for a decade) the appearance of Nick Fury was not only a nice bonus to the film but when he said "I'm here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative." it became something more, it became the biggest promise of cinematic things to come since the first rumors of the Star Wars Prequels, the difference being that when The Avengers finally assembled they delivered...over and over again. I'm still a little shocked that it came out as good as it did since the very idea of such a film coming together logistically flirts with impossibility. For once it seems, the studio suits who are usually hell bent on destroying good movies worked together, got contracts ironed out, freed up schedules, parted the Red Seas and allowed massive event to take place. The movie was written and directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Cabin In The Woods, Toy Story) and I suspect any comic book fan who wasn't into his work before will be now. None of this would matter if the story and dialogue hadn't been good but Whedon's writing is the secret weapon of this film. Not only do all eight principles have a voice, but each is unique and rings true for the character. Thor sounds like Thor should. When Bruce Banner and Tony Stark meet they have the kind of conversation two super-geniuses would be expected to have.
The cast is impeccable. Yes, I wish things had worked out with Edward Norton because I honestly believe he was the best Bruce Banner in recent years and would have loved to see him play in this sandbox however Mark Ruffalo does a good job in the unenviable task of replacing him and The Hulk truly is incredible and more than makes up for Norton's absence...trust me. Many are concerned that this will basically be Iron Man 3 with good reason since the character and the actor playing him are just that awesome but fortunately each member of the team is given multiple moments to shine to the point where you would be hard pressed to pick a favorite character. For two hours the entire Marvel Universe is truly alive and that's quite an achievement.
The action sequences are pitch perfect and there's very little I can say without giving anything away so I'll just say: When (spoiler) fights (spoiler) it was great, but then when (spoiler), (spoiler) and (spoiler) all fight and (spoiler) hits (spoiler)'s (spoiler) with (spoiler) that was awesome but NOTHING prepared me for the third act when (spoiler) goes (spoiler) on (spoiler)!!! Maybe my favorite thing to happen in a movie ever. So stop reading and run out to the theater NOW! And stay AFTER THE CREDITS all the way to the VERY END there's MORE THAN ONE BONUS SCENE.

A new technology called "the Tesseract" has the promise of unlimited electric power for everyone. The demigod Loki comes to the earth realm and steals this Tesseract, intending to turn it into a fearsome weapon. Enter Nick Fury and his fighting force The Avengers (Hawkeye, The Black Widow, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America), a group of superheroes tasked with taking the Tesseract back and stopping Loki once and for all.
The movie's been hyped to the heavens and has the potential of being one of the summer's best movies. Does it deliver? You bet! It takes a little while to get started-the movie does spend some time gathering the disparate heroes together and allowing them to iron our their respective differences, but once it does, you're in for a wild ride, with thrills galore as the Avengers defeat Loki and his minions time again, only to have Loki come back for more.
Not only is the movie thrilling, there's humor in just the right places, accentuating the action sequences. One of my favorite sequences occurs the Hulk Meets Loki. After a skirmish, Loki cries out "I will NOT be bullies," followed by the Hulk giving him the mother of all beatdowns.
Did I have fun? You bet? Did I think I got my money's worth? You bet. I'm definitely adding this big budget gem to my DVD collection when it comes out.

Thrilling adrenaline ride, with great actors that really brought out their character flaws, weaknesses and strengths. The director did a great job bringing out the conflicts between characters and the bonding of the team . It had great style and enjoyable dialogue. Very much recommend anyone who wants to see a great movie to see this one. Also, this movie had two secret ending clips: one after some credits and the other after all the credits are done.

I loved this movie for so many different reasons. It's completely action packed, I mean there's 5 super heroes, right?! The dialogue and the interaction between the super heroes is funny, clever and witty with so many great one liners and blows to the body throughout the film. This combined with excellent acting, special effects, and a really good looking cast, it appeals to both males and females. It's a must see! The perfect movie to kick off the summer movie season.

If the Dark Knight (the highest achievement in "comic book movies" to date) is a 9 out of 10, then Avengers is an 8 out of 10. While Avengers lacks Nolan's brooding artistry, it makes up for it with snappy dialogue, crisp action and several genuine laugh-out-loud moments.
As soon as the credits rolled on Avengers, I wanted to see it again. I highly recommend seeing it as soon as you can; it's fun, witty and thoroughly engrossing!

Full of action and fun! Black widow (Scarlet Jo) rocks! If you are an action buff you will love this movie! The only flaw which would probably add another 15 minutes is the return of Thor. They dont explain it. Other than that I would pay to see this in the movies again! Hulk was better than I expected (I loved the rag doll scene!), Iron Man lived up to his self and beyond, Night Hawk is a beast, Captain America rose to the top, even the NYPD did a good job. I cant wait to see it again!

We enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. The added humor was great surprise (for me anyway.. hubs says that if you read the comics, you knew that Stan Lee liked to inject humor) Actors played their parts perfectly and action and effects were non stop. Classic Marvel. Will recommend to everyone we know.
