Fun! The fight scenes were a little too close, so the actors only had to move their arms a little and the rest was CGI, but the acting was really good, the character development great. Loved the sneaky Stan Lee cameo, as usual. Great to have the Shield guy from Iron Man back.

I'm a Indy Comic Artist, so I've been around the industry for sometime. I've seen so amazing characters become weak in movies and other grow. Thor is definitely gonna grow! Going in not expecting much from this movie is was taken back. They did a great job on a visuals, and storyline was as good as it was gonna get. Chris Hemsworth is completely believable as Thor and carried it well. I will say that Natalie Portman was not needed for her role, but she carried it well, however I think whatever they paid her for the role could have been put into something else. Overall I will say this is a must see movie while it is in theaters....
Oh and for those of you who DONT understand this "AVENGERS" movie that is happening, you MUST stay after the credits to "IRONMAN 1&2", "HULK2", "THOR" more than likely "CAPTAIN AMERICA" to understand it all... DONT LEAVE THE MOVIE UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE CREDITS!!!!!

This movie was very entertaining. It also tried to pass on some good values - temperance, filial piety, and taking care of others. I liked something at the end that would have brought tears to my eyes if I wasn't embarrassed to cry in public. It related to Natalie Portman's character and the extraordinary lengths she would go to to be reunited with the man she loved.

Marvel once again shows they know what they are doing with their own characters. Chris Hemsworth is amazing as Thor and stardom is going to come his way soon. Natalie Portman is solid, and Tom Hiddleston steals the show as Loki (can't wait to see him in Avengers). A great next step until The Avengers next year.

Great beginning to this movie with a predictable finish. Strong performances from Chris as Thor & Tom as Loki. Colm Feore as the head bad guy was terrific. Great special effects but nothing you haven't seen before. Make sure you stay until the credits run for a preview of the next Marvel Comics movie.

What a fantastic Mother's Day Present. This movie was excellent beyond excellent. Everything about it was outstanding. The movie flowed, more than enough action, acting was great. Special effects outstanding and then some.

Hmmm, Thor… where do I begin? I have long since given up the erroneous notion that superhero movies should be true to its comic book counterparts. I also have lived long enough to see superhero titles rebooted so often that they bear no r...esemblance to their origins as told in my youth (Jane Foster is an astrophysicist stormchaser?)
So, I entered Thor with absolutely no expectations. Good thing, too, because if I had any, they wouldn’t have been met. First, I must agree with Sir Anthony Hopkins and state that there is far to much CGI in this film and not enough character development. There were opportunities to delve into characters and their back stories that were simply ignored.
Other problems include: Fight scenes that played out like video game ads, with actors trying to strike the right “badass” pose for the cool action shots. Annoyingly silly humor that wore thin quickly. Conflicts that were one-dimensional and built no real suspense. A forced love story. And I understand that even a god of thunder must have a character arc, and Thor’s was a common one that I could have overlooked… had it been better acted, and yes, better directed.
The whole movie lacked gravitas. Plain and simple.
There are some that have said it’s nothing more than a two-hour preview for the upcoming Avengers movie and I can’t totally disagree with that. But it is not the worst superhero movie ever made (far from it), it is simply the weakest Avengers prequel movie made to date (and yes, I’m including Iron Man 2 in that category).
Who knows? Check your brain at the door and you might just enjoy this special episode of “Donald’s Creek."

I usually don't watch super hero type movies, but this one had some comedy in it and no foul language or sex scenes. It is suitable for children. It was an excellent movie and Chris Hemsworth is so hot!!!

Given the high benchmark set by the Iron Man series, this latest entry into the AVENGERS franchise of movies easily meets those standards. As a long-time comics fan, I was impressed with the way that THOR managed to capture both the essence of the character and the mythology Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created for him, but also embraced the more modern interpretation used in Marvel's Ultimate Thor.
Stunning visual and CGI effects, excellent casting and directing, enjoyable performances and consistent pacing made this a thunderous addition to Marvel's successful cinematic lineup.

Not since the premier x-men or the first spiderman movie have I so thoroughly enjoyed a comic book movie. While not a huge fan of Hulk, I was glad that Thor, in the same vein, had great pacing as well as embracing the comic book attitude. The script was engaging and the plot exciting. The pacing kept me interested throughout. Chris Hemsworth nailed this role as he simply oozed the bravado of his character.
I can say without a doubt that while Robert Downey Jr. was perfect for Tony Stark, they could not have picked a better candidate than Hemsworth. As a huge Iron Man fan -- the first, not the second -- I would give them roughly equal ratings, with the edge going to thor as I tend to favor the sword and shield battles over highly advanced technology.
I do want to add a quick note for non-comic fans. Being familiar with The Avengers growing up I had no difficulty following the story. My wife, who was not, said she was slightly confused by the story whether it was following the comic book or the norse myth. She loved the story, the action, all the same parts as me; I just felt I should mention that someone completely unknown to the situation may have questions about the story.
In conclusion, another great work from producer Jon Favreau (Swingers, Iron Man) that will leave you gripping your seat, tense with action-anticipation and pleasantly surprised at the detail of graphics.

I went to the midnight showing of Thor and it was a great movie. The cast, fx, and story are fantastic. I highly recommend this movie for any one who enjoys a good action movie. I now have a greater respect for Thunderstorms.

I went in hopeful, but came out with my expectations exceeded. I don't want to 'oversell' the film, but they did an excellant job.
To the naysayers who don't like that the scenes switch from Thor's home world to Earth, deal with it. It's part of the storyline WHICH IS THOR. Throughout the comic's history, he has always struggled between Earth and his duties on Asgard. I don't think the switching of realms hurts the story at all.
The script and acting is also well done. Very pleased!

Wow! THOR was AWESOME! I didn't know what to expect going into the theater. But when I came out, I was blown away!
This flic has it all! Great story, acting, action, comedy, and romance. Not to mention the costumes, cinematography, and special effects.
But what its really got is a lot of HEART!
I use to read the Thor comic book as a kid. Surprisingly, the big screen adaptation is true to the source material. And director Kenneth Branagh brings the God of Thunder to the next level of entertainment.
Natalie Portman was brilliant! She was cute, funny, sexy, and clever. Her performance added the pizazz that glued it all together.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor) truly embodied the character. And Tom Hiddleston (Loki) was wickedly cool! All in all, there were excellent performances. And unlike Lord of the Rings, there was even a solid Black character in the mix! Nice!
This one was also skillfully casted to bring in the Harry Potter and Star Wars fanboys. We'll see how the Thor boxoffice fears up against Fast Five (another summer favorite of mine).
But don't HATE! PARTICIPATE! And check out THOR as he brings the thunder and the pain! I know it's Mother's Day weekend. So bring Mommy along for the ride!

This movie has issues. It can't decide whether it wants to be set in present day earth, or on Thor's planet of Asgard. There's plenty of great effects and action to enjoy...and a love story too. I wanted this movie to succeed and it's certainly enjoyable, but it's not great. See it for the effects and the potential for future sequels that might get it right. For now, Thor is trying to find himself both in the story and as a superhero franchise.

Kenneth Branagh really did a great job in directing this movie. It was a very interesting turn with the story. Knowing the story of Thor through the comics and then watching the movie was quite interesting but I did enjoy the version they told. The Donald Blake identity was different but what I enjoyed was Loki. Tom Hiddleston played him SOOOO well. The manipulation and yet sincere look and act Loki put on was PERFECT! As for action pack, completely filled. This has to be one of the best Super Hero movies this year. Can't wait to see Thor return with his allies, Iron Man and Capt. America!

Good movie with good story line and great special effects. The all star cast gave it a good appeal. The special effects was amazing. Chris Hemsworth showed off his pects; Natalie Portman gave her cute looks; Anthony Hopkins gave his grand performance. I just saw it in regular non 3D, non IMAX, big screen.
I recommend seeing at a matinee price.

In my initial review of Thor, I forgot the fact that I did like how the topics of Gamma Rays (Dr. Bruce Banner a.k.a The Incredible Hulk) was injected into the movie after The Shield took all of the research paperwork and computers and Tony Stark (a.k.a Iron Man) was inserted as The Shield looked upon The Destroyer when it arrived on Earth.
