An "O,.K." movie that had more potential than it delivered. Steve Zahn is great but gets carried away with his persona. Other than the Hawaii scenery of Kaui, the story had amaturist writing and ridiculous sequences. As an example, one does not fall off a high cliff and immediately regain their ability to act as if nothing happened. Yes, there are turns and twists but more characteristic of a high school script writer than a professional hollywood writer. Could have been a much better film than it was. Disappointing!

I've loved Timothy Olyphant since "Scream" and Steve Zahn since "Joy Ride" so I was excited to see this movie. And even though I guessed what the main twist would be before seeing the movie, I was successfully made to doubt myself once or twice. It was a cute movie, overall, though I would like to have seen more from the third guy who will be playing Thor.

A Perfect Getaway was a disaster. Some good scenes and moments of suspense but the tension was broken too quickly often by gratuitous violence, poor plot twists and imperfect characterization. Green screen work was very disappointing. Armed with a weak script, the director allowed the viewer a glimpse far beyond foreshadowing that bordered on wasting the time of the audience as they remained in the theater to watch the plotless train wreck. The storyline concept was a good one but for a movie featuring a screenwriter as a character I would have expected a quality screenplay. Unfortunately, the concept was abbreviated and the storyline suffered. Advice: Do Not Revive.

I had to go see this one twice before I understood what happened. But once I saw it the second time it really was a good movie complete with good direction, acting, and effects. Very graphic with butt naked nude scenes so I would not take my younger kids to see it.

The cast of actors had great chemistry on screen and made for a fun film. The twists and turns in the story are at times a little unrealistic, but are at least meaningful--which is more than I can say for most Hollywood thrillers. The first half of the film cheats the audience a little bit more than it should have, but at least the second half of the film is surprisingly fun and engaging compared to the first half of the film. Worth watching, especially on a date with someone with a good sense of humor. Good entertainment.

The setting of Hawaii is just gorgeous. The performances of the four principals are good. But halfway along the movie has a plot twist that just isn't believable from what has come before. Even so, the movie makes for a decent adventure yarn, with plenty of tension and action.

Beautiful scenery hides the fact that this is one of those movies that deliberately lies to the audience in order to carry the intrigue. The lie is not in the form of a who done it in character misdirection. The lie is that things are said and behaviors taken that the bad guys would never have done. I felt robbed at the end. To put it in context, several times in the movie, when the bad guys are alone, they talk and act as if they are the ones afraid the others rather than plotting their attack. The scenery is great but otherwise the movie is worth avoiding.

There are always a million reasons not to give a movie a 5 star rating, the least of which should always be that you are the only person giving such a high-rating, though this reason often tends more towards the most of which. This movie may be self-aware and predictable, but it is delightfully so, and it takes the time to occasionally step outside the conventions of the genre, and filmmaking in general, in order to satisfy its audience, and for those reasons the theater literally stood up and cheered, and I applaud that.

One of the best suspense filled movies seen in a long time. Kept us on our toes until near the end. Definitely a must see and not for the faint of heart. The Hawaiian scenery and waterscapes were absolutely beautiful. At some point I felt that I was actually on tour in Hawaii.

If the movie is not an A, then at least the scenery is, beautifully shot in Hawaii with some breathtaking views from the air. The film paces itself fairly well with good performances by Timothy Oliphant and Steve Zahn. I liked Olyphant portraying a quirky nice guy as opposed to the cold hearted, angry charachter he played in Live Free Or Die Hard, in fact his charachter was so different I didn't recognize him at first. The writer, David Twohy keeps us guessing as to who the bad guys are. I also thought the lengthy black and white flashbacks were an interesting way to answer the questions of, who, why and how. Overall not a great movie, but a good 98 minute summer diversion with an ending that satisfies.

We went to see this to "revisit" Hawaii, where we went a couple of months ago for our honeymoon. This was a very fun movie! I figured out the twist pretty early on, but it didn't diminish it for me. Great scenery, pretty people, twisty plot--exactly what we wanted!

This is an entertaining movie, but mediocre at best. It's hard to explain why without giving away the "twist" that the trailer is so eager to tell you about. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW THERE'S A TWIST GOING IN!!! Surprise me with it! That's the purpose of a twist. Instead I had to go into this movie knowing there was a twist and had it figured out within the first 20 min. Second: There is a huge, gaping hole in the script which is a lazy attempt to confuse viewers. Unfortunately, given the eventual outcome, there is a scene earlier in the movie that makes absolutely no sense given what is known at the end.
Go see this one for yourself. It is entertaining, but certainly not "smart" like I've seen written in some other reviews.

This is not a great movie. It is a smart one. Steve Zahn's performance makes it worth it. I knew who the killers were right away but had no idea how it would end until
the end.
It also shows something I have not seen yet how meth removes your emotions. Good Film.

While this isn't a classic, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked the guessing you had to do throughout the movie, and it did get you in the end. I also thought that the unique filming during the chase scenes were interesting and different. All the actors did a superb job. While it's not your typical slasher/gore movie, (which I don't like) there was some at the end if you're faint of heart.

well to be perfectly honest i thought it was the slowest moving movie..when i looked on my watch and saw we were an hour and five minutes in i thought were is the thriller..but it finally came in the last 20 minutes.. so the last 20 minutes made the movie worth seeing..but i advise others to wait until it comes out on dvd..not worth going to the movies to see.

This movie is a confirmed go see. It keeps you on the edge just enough to make you keep you full attention on the screen. The comedy parts are place at the right moments to disarm you. I enjoyed the fact that the movie was your typical slasher/gorefest type movie. If fact its not til the end that the gore comes in and even then its done at the right points to add the emphasis to the climax.
