I had high expectations from this movie. After watching it, I felt that I could have utilized my time better. The story was not new. While special effects was good, it was not something which could hold the movie together. The direction could have been better. For example, at one point 5 people kill the ice cream guy with no care for ammunition, but when the time comes to fire, they stay inside and see the other guy die. Michael (the good angel) while trying to save the girl (Audrey) goes out with machine guns blazing but then quickly throws them away and pulls out pistols? How would they be more efficient that a machine gun? A sophisticated mace is all that the angels have for weapons?

This movie was horrible. Anyone that gives it anything but a 1 has had to be paid for it. If you buy it on bootleg you still overpaid for it. About 5 minutes of the movie was good and that was a short action seen that you saw half of in the previews. Had such high hopes for this movie. Plot, characters, and most of the acting were all undeveloped and could have been so much better. Do not see this movie.

Just what we need. Every lowly waitress to think that their child is the savior of all mankind. The dialogue is awful and forced. The "hero" of the story is absolutely awful and does very little to even be called so.
Paul Bettany and Quaid are what carry this movie, but even their acting can't save this bomb from being one of the worst movies this year. The old lady scene is classic and will stick with you if you see it. Skip this one and don't look back. You'll thank me.

Me and my girlfried thought this movie was good. Although I did have high hopes for this movie, it didn't disappoint me. I just wish there was "more." Some scenes were a bit cheesy. But the action was entertaining. Themes were appealing and message was good. A fan of Paul Bettany, so i enjoyed him.

I loved this movie. I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed it because I thought they would go the easy way and have the child be the saviour, same old, same old.

There were moments in this film where you caught glimpses of what it COULD have been. For the most part, it was unexceptional. Lucas Black looks several IQ points below average when he's listening intently (think mouth-breather) and Paul Bettany didn't have much to do other than shoot stuff, sound portentous and British and to shoot more stuff. If you were jonesing for Doug Jones, it's a disappointment.

I had high hopes, but the plot is muddled and doesn't survive much scrutiny. The few action scenes present are generally quite good, but are in the style of a B-movie zombie-esque movie. The time in between the action scenes is filled with tedious dialogue which might have been better with it had been more tightly edited. Had the film makers embraced the B-movie aspect fully this movie would have been tolerable, but it takes itself too seriously to rest on its ridiculous plot and its tiresome dialogue.

This movie is a little above average. The actors all do a competent job. The only real beef I had about it that gave it a "just above average" rating is the plot. The story really doesn't have a whole lot of meat to it. The intro is interesting and has a nice pace, but it quickly devolves into a Rambo style shoot-em-up by mid-point.
On a side note, I found the movie to be just a bit too heavy handed with the religious message with the entire second half repeating how upset God was with his children. It came off feeling a bit preachy in a "I told you so" sort of way that smacked of the type of rhetoric you get in conservative politics these days. I actually found myself getting irritated at the heavy handedness.

I liked Michaels character and how Gabriel looked in angel form, really awesome. but it sucked otherwise. The storyline was shaky at best the angels seemed out of character and there was no character development in the film except between Michael and Gabriel. I really didn't like the humans at all and could care less what happened to them. Great potential but definitely a dude.

The Bible passages and intense drama made it look like it'd be a provacative, thought-provoking exploration of God's charater and His relationship to humanity. As the TV trailers started coming out, I realized it was going to be a B-rate, low-budget rock-em-sock-em. There's plenty of action, but there is not much attention given to character development and the background of the prophesy plotline. Some scenes came off as too forced and uber-predictable. The resolution to the story is also lacking. Sequel? Might be a good idea to wait for the DVD on this one.

Action-thriller. Entertaining. Paul Bettany is a good actor in any movie that he is in. Somewhat though-provoking regarding the condition of this planet and mankind.

I saw this movie last night with my son, and felt there was alot missing in the plot. It gives you impression of some relation to religion, but it appears to be something conjured up by writer, with no relevance to scriptures. Action scenes were good, and nice CGI effects, but there is no sense to the plot. There should have been mention of reading the comics Legion:prophets, which serve as a prequel to the movie.
