My Mother and Dad grew up in Amelia's hometown of Atchison, KS. In fact, my Mother once lived in the building that once housed Amelia's school. I've visited her museum in her family home and seen her life-sized statue centered in the downtown area. Hilary was much too tall to accurately play the character, but her look and accent were spot on! I enjoyed the movie and look forward to my Mother's viewing it. She will be disappointed that Atchison, KS was mentioned only once in the movie!

There are some truly great actors in this movie going out of their way to create a 2 dimensional portrait of Amelia Earhart as a woman who just wanted to fly. There are hints in it that she was a free spirit with a progressive attitude that's unfortunately never fully developed. There's also a feeble attempt in one scene to show that her husband fixed some of the races that she was in. That may be true, but, again, it's a topic that's thrown in and then not developed. I enjoyed this movie and recommend it to anyone who's interested in the topic, just don't expect a masterpiece.

Horrible. Acting was like 1950's TV commercials. Script could have been written by 8th grade intro to history class. For a movie about flying it was a totally 2 dimensional emotional portrayal. I have never left a movie before, but did so at the 90 minute mark, as I simply couldn't handle the boredom. The musical score was bold and soaring, and seemed to be trying to add the emotion and drama that the script and acting had left out. I am going to strongly recommend this film to people whom I don't like. :)

This movie was way too simplistic. I left the theatre still not knowing who Amelia was, other than that she loved to fly. Hillary Swank's performance was good, but the screenplay gave her little to work with. I wish that the biopic had done a better job at developing Amelia's motivations by going back to her childhood. That would have ensured a proper background for her flying obesession.

Richard Gere was amazing; Hilary smiled a little too much. You know how the story ends but it was handled so beautifully. Would have liked knowing more about her childhood, where she learned to fly, how she met George (Richard) but overall, well worth seeing.

My wife and I went to this movie last night. I must admit that I didn't know a lot of details about Amelia's life. So I found the movie very intersting from an intellectual standpoint. The acting by Hilary Swank was exceptional. She really pulled off a remarkable appearance to the real life icon (as seen in closing credits). The cinematography and music score are Oscar nomination caliber. Considering all the subpar movies being made these days, this one is a must see for those who are curious to know the story and like an old, classic feel of a movie.

It's like the Titanic. You know how it is going to end, but you cry anyway. I never tire of her story. I've read all of the books. I thought this movie was beautifully and respectfully done. Every generation seems to get an Amelia movie, whenever there is a slim, freckled actress who is up to the role, and this is the best one yet.

I highly recommend this film. the story is really interesting and the music and cinematography are exceptional. Its a story of heroism and all mothers ought to take their daughters - it shows a girl can be anything she wants to be.

I was very excited to see the preview screening my friend won tickets for last night but I'm sad to say, it was lousy. I never got involved with or really cared about any of the characters, there was very little drama or conflict to propel the movie, the editing/focus (this might have been intentional to allude to the grainy film of the 1930's but it was very distracting) needed help and the acting was humdrum. Amelia Earhart was a great female aviator and I admire her courage to transverse into a predominantly male profession but little of that was conveyed in this movie.
