I have watched a lot of bad movies, but this one tops all of them. It seems producer/director wanted to make two movies, a comedy and a horror, but due to lack of budget they just decided to combine them both, and the result was this crap...

Went to this not knowing what to expect. Had not read anything about it. Just knew it was a horror movie. I was blown away. Loved the humor and the twists. Have already told others to go and they LOVED IT too.

Based on many poor reviews here I almost didn't see this film, glad I chose to ignore them.. This is a very DIFFERENT kind of horror flick. Not just your usual "teens in a cabin in the woods get sliced & diced" kind of movie. It has enough scary moments, some funny moments but overall really keeps the audience guessing as to WHAT is really going on. You'll be hard pressed to figure it all out. Yes, we have some nudity, some hacking and bloody murders but also some humor but most of all an original story line that will entertain you. Acting is good (you'll recognize many faces here). Even Sigourney Weaver show up. See this one!

This movie is Joss Whedon showcasing his creative genius. The movie is thoroughly original, and serves both as a genre-bending horror flick and a parody of the stereotypical elements that mainstream horror films have come to rely on. It is hilarious, frightening, suspenseful, intelligent, and fresh. I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.

Acting by main actors was actually good. very brief nudity. Plot and directing were absolutely horrible. i wanted to leave theater ever 5 to 10 minutes, not very often that happens. they tried to make it a comedy horror, and absolutely did not succeed, nor even come within a football field of succeeding. Save your money and time, this movie is not worth either. Chris Hemsworth is way to good of an actor to be in this no quality garbage, i dont know what he was thinking.

I cannot believe I got sucked into seeing this movie, and I went solely on the recommendation of a friend. Total waste of time & money, and I gave my friend an earful!! Hoooorible story and concept. This should've stayed on Hollywood's shelf and collected 12 inches of dust. The only good thing was the attractive gang, other than that TOTAL off the charts zero! If I could give less than one star I would. I sooo wanted my money back, and THANK GOD I saw it at matinee price and did not pay for 3D!

Maybe it is because I looked into this movie before it came out, but I knew it wasn't going to be a super scary horror flick. They didn't market it as that, they marketed it as a different kind of horror flick and that's what it was. Joss Whedon purposefully used bits of the typical horror movies in a spoof like fashion and it worked brilliantly. The comedy in it was unexpected and fantastic. The acting was great, and the idea in general was one of the few over all original that have come around this genre in a while. Yes, many movies before had elements of this one, but this took it a step further. It makes you laugh, freak out and keeps you interested the whole time because you're dying to figure out WTF is going on. It's great. Go entertain yourself, that is what this movie is for. Awesome. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because no horror movie gets 5 stars.

I had such great hope for this movie. I bough it was going to be a smart new twist of a move. Boy was I ever wrong. It is a complete rip off of every horror movie made. So predictable. Not sexy, not fun. Lame is more the word I would choose to discribe it. Save your money. Pass this movie by. The cridicts missed the mark big time on this one.

I'm not sure what other people were expecting, but this movie made me laugh, made me jump, and kept my interest the entire time. It was inventive in its use of familiar tropes in unexpected ways, and the cast did a nice job too. I can't wait to see it again!

For those of you who enjoy films such as drag me to hell and Shaun of the dead, then you will like this film. After watching the trailer I thought I was goin to see a scary movie but instead it was kind of a bad comedy. The acting was pretty good. Also, there was no "twist" in the movie. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I rented it but after seeing it in the theater, I felt ripped off.

I knew before I saw it that this wasn't your average horror film. Critics reviews said it was scary and humorous at the same time. And that it was! Most entertaining film I've seen in years! I love horror and this was done so creatively, I actually jumped and screamed at some really suspenseful parts and then without realizing it, I was laughing moments later. The only film in which you root for the Heros to win AND fail.
Dreadfully awesome and hilariously scary. However, if you go expecting only horror, you will be disappointed so rather watch it to be entertained and you'll love it!

The movie trailers are extremely misleading.. They market this movie in a way that you come to the theater expecting to see a serious horror film..... But it was a comedy in every way from the very beginning...i did actually laugh quite a bit...
My lady friend jumped maybe 3 times...so it just wasnt that scary...
It had some exciting parts that were pretty interesting but those parts only happened for 20 seconds tops, then it was on to more comedy...
Save your money, rent the human centipede at home and enjoy grossing your significant other out.. Because cabin in the woods (which had an awesome plot) doesnt deliver.

That was a roller coaster ride! The last 20 minutes were wild. The 2 technicians and the stoner stole the show. Way over the top ending. Half stood cheering. a tenth yelled "that sucked" . The rest sat there, jaw dropped, in shock, from the intensity of the last 20 minutes & the WTF closing. This is a love it or hate it movie. Most loved it, me included.

Seriously? First off about the warning of extreme bloody violence and gore: Yeah maybe in the last 20 minutes! Sexuality and nudity? Maybe 2 20 second scenes. And there was WAY too much comedy in it for me to consider it a horror movie. Reminded me of The Hunger Games, Hell Raiser and Hostel as it kind of had aspects of all 3. Definitely not worth the $10.75 I spent.

The Cabin in the woods had so much promise but unfortuantley it was pretty lame. The movie started off well, it had laughs, a very hot blonde and some good dialogue, but after a certain scene the movie took a turn for the worse. It felt like you were watching too different movies and it just losses your attention after a while. I would have kept all the mythlogical creatures out of the movie but hey I'm not the director.

I am a big horror movie lover and I jumped to go see this movie with my friend. However we both had to question even if we was in the correct movie once it started. This movie was not only the worst horror I have seen in years but it wasn't even scary. A great disappointment throughout the whole show. Only at the very end the last 15 mins or so was it even interesting. If I rented this movie I would have shut it off it was so boring.

I'm a big fan of horror comedies (Bubba Ho-Tep, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, etc). So when the movie started with the typical Joss Whedon type humor, I was extremely relieved as the trailer didn't accurately show the humor. If you're going into the movie expecting a serious horror film, you will be disappointed in that aspect but hopefully still love it. I found the descriptions of all the horror cliches to be fantastic. The last quarter of the movie is very innovative. I cannot wait to see it again.

I am a very harsh horro movi critic. I can usually figure out the ending so it's all about the technique.
However...
"Cabin In The Woods" defies horrom movie cliches while using them to show how they arose from very real human emotions.
The actors are superb, especially Bradley Whitford who is at his cynical comedic best.
And the FX is off the charts.
Four Stars
Must See for horror fans.

One of the most unique horror sci-fi movies I've seen in a while. Its Resident Evil meets Hunger Games with a dash of humor and mix of Friday the 13th thrills. It's a smart, nasty picture, reinvigorating stale screenwriting ingredients -- a delirious valentine to slasher archetypes and monster mayhem. A must see, because you've never seen horror done like this.
