Question: Was Ryan Reynolds wearing a wig? Weird hair. Worked at 6 Flags as a teenager one summer so I think that's why I liked it so much. Otherwise, coming-of-age movies typically aren't my thing. This one was well done, though. Better than Superbad.

When I went to see Adventureland, I was expecting another comedy like 40 year old virgin, but this movie was definitely more of a romance. This is a little bit of a disappointment, but overall the movie was good. Bill Hader and whoever plays Brennan's old friend are both scene stealers for sure. I would recommend this movie to pretty much anyone over 13

Brad the Bartender (Ryan McFarland) was the better of the two Ryans in the movie.Ryan Reynolds character was just too pathetic, but Ryan McFarland played a great friend to the lead in the opening scene. I hope to see his talent on the big screen again soon!!!

This was a very sweet, funny (not laugh out loud funny, but amusing) story that rang true, showing all the vulnerabiities and questionable things we all do growing up. Believable likeable flawed characters... real people. Great soundtrack. Great movie.

I was surprised that this movie had a deeper and better story than expected. I guess I kept my expectations low, as in hilarious borderline low brow humor. Good writing and good actors made this movie.
Loved seeing Ryan Reynolds play such a creep. Hope that Kristen Stewart/Twilight fans will see her outside of the Bella character. And, I'd like to see her take a part that kept her away from sullen or worry she risks getting type-casted.
Definitely worth watching; especially if you actually worked at an amusement park.
Don't forget that the top department to work in besides rides was characters; God forbid if you got stuck in food. Go Six Flags Over Texas 1989!!

My teen daughter and I were really disappointed. We thought that with Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig, SNL castmembers, that the film would be really hilarious. Unfortunately, we were let down by the overall depressing tone of the plot. This is another example where folks who smoke pot go nowhere, such as "Pineapple Express". Despite pro critics giving Kristen Stewart kudos for "stretching" herself, we did not feel that she really did that. Jesse Eisenberg was successful in conveying how thoroughly unhappy he was with being in this movie, much less the theme park, Adventureland.

When I read that this movie was from the director of Superbad, I went in expecting a comedy. It wasn't. The only thing this movie had in common with Superbad was the director. It did have a few funny high points (Bill Hader), but overall this was an average romantic comedy at best. I also don't support movies that have an R rating for language only. It was a teenage sex romp with no sex, nudity, or violence to speak of. Don't get cheated like me. Wait to watch it on HBO.

This movie isn't so much a comedy movie as it is a movie about a point in time that has comedy woven through out.. its a throw back to the 80's movies of john hughes where you have poignant moments intersecting with laughter and life.

So like most other viewers I went in thinking it would be a comedy but it was not at all! Totally pretty much a serious love movie. I really went to see it for Kristien Stewart and she did pretty good. The only time you will laugh is when Bill Hader comes on more of a slow romance it wasn't too great I wouldn't recommend it to teens

I'd read a couple of reviews beforehand so knew that Adventureland was going to be a bit "sweeter" than other Aptow-connected films (although all his films have a coating of sweetness to them). Over all, I think this is the best of the "sensitive male" films I've seen: the acting was great, the soundtrack a treat for anyone over 30, and the story very, very satisfying. Was it the funniest movie I've ever seen? No, but it was one of the most enjoyable. I'd recommend it all but the masculinely insecure of my friends.

I saw this movie with the expectation that it would be in the same genre of the Judd Apatow movies of outrageousness. Although it met this criteria in a couple of ways, it was a more level comedy, entertaining with a good love story set in the 80s. The lead actor Jesse Eseinberg (sp?) was very good as the kid whose parents have money problems and he has to revise his summer plans (europe) for a stint at a local amusement park. His honesty was funny and refreshing in the role. The supporting cast added to the enjoyment and I thought that the movie was well written. Not too trite or over the top

While the movie was not horrible and I was not tempted to walk out or anything... It was far from what I expected. The trailer seems to promise SuperBad or 40 Year Old Virgin type hilarity and hijinx... NOT AT ALL.

My gut tells me that under-30 year olds will like this movie much more than us over-50's movie theater goers. There is excellent under-stated acting by Eisenberg, Starr, Reynolds, Hader (who knew he could control himself enough to do this....)...and most of all Kristen Stewart who keeps impressing us with her range and accuracy. She is a director's dream and is nailing the roles she has been stepping into like a veteran acting "sniper". She is rapidly becoming the queen of all 20-something actresses in today's cinematic world. On the downside the movie is a bit long, a bit slow and a bit contrived in places with an over-emphasis on pot smoking and getting drunk. Worth seeing for the high-end acting.

It was an OK film. Not very funny. Martin Starr and Bill Hader were funny, but they didn't get enough screen time. It was just your basic young adult love story, run of the mill.
My problem with this movie was the amount of drinking and drug use. Marijuana and Alcohol should have gotten some screen credits due to the amount of screen time they got. To show everyone smoking weed with indifference shows kids that it isn't a big deal. It isn't a big deal, but to advertise it to such a degree is unnecessary.

If you are a fan of Superbad, Knocked Up, and other comedies like those, you will definitely enjoy this movie. Kristen Stewart was annoying in parts (not as horrendous as she was in Twilight), but we had a great time in the theater. I would see it again!

1987 is my time, and this was billed as an Eighties type movie...so I'm thinking Meatballs, or Caddyshack...Of course I expected a funny summer movie, only to get a very dark and depressing romance...nearly every person is despondent or broken, and even the resolution is kind of shabby. Not many characters to like -- Ryan Reynolds is HORRIBLY miscast as a bad guy, when the role is really supposed to be a Bill Murray goofy kind of role. Should be straight to video - save your money

So the trailer for this movie definitely made it appear that it was about a guy, who gets his first real job at an amusement park and all the ridiculousness that comes with it. The trailer was packed with funny situations and one liners. The movie is NOTHING like that. So was the movie bad? Not at all. It's just not what you expect going in. I just wish the trailer had set my expectations properly by doing a better job at describing what the actual movie was like. Instead, it's appealing to the Superbad crowd, when actually the audience who would really enjoy this movie are the daughters of the women who loved "Sleepless in Seattle".

So, I saw this movie last night, and I was going in hoping for a superbad like movie about young people in an amusement park. I was sad to find out it was less comedy and alot more romance, definitely a female oriented movie.
