Must see movie. One that everyone MUST see to get a true sense of what we are putting into our bodies . I am now re-evaluating my eating habits and where to spend my money on food.
Now is the time where we can protect REAL farmers by choosing to eat REAL food..
The slaughter scenes are hard to take though, so be prepared. The end result is a frightening realization that corporations have too much control, and it's time for Americans to take back their country.

Great movie! Having worked in the food processing field myself I wasn't very surprised at what I saw. I have been telling people for years about the very issues that are shown in this movie. I have worked on the kill floors in a much smaller establishment. What you get in this movie is absolutely true. Please tell all your friends to go see this movie!

This movie was great. Sadly, I am not surprised. This country is very greedy and we don't have a problem putting the lives of people and animals at risk for profit. This movie proves how divided this country is because it's the poor people who get the lion's share of the garbage they call food. Wealthy people can afford to eat humane food. Everyone should see this movie.

A well done and important movie. Polyface Farms is a great model. We could all learn from the family that could not afford fresh fruits and veggies because of dad's prescription costs for type 2 diabetes so they choose to eat fast food because it is artificially cheap and filling due to government subsidies!! This cycle can be stopped by us, the consumer.

Like the movie "King Corn" before it, "Food Inc" takes an in depth look at how are food is made and where it comes from. It can be disturbing to watch, but people need to know the implications of what they eat. We vote for our food systems every time we eat, so the only way you can make an informed choice, is to know all the facts, no matter how painful. If you only see one movie all year. this has to be it.

Food, Inc was a mind blower for me. I never knew what the factories did to the the cattle and chicken. They pump growth hormones in chicken, only feed corn to the animals (including fish), and they clone the embryos of livestock. I had no idea of the atrocities the animals endured. At this stage in my life, I'm slightly overweight and I hope other people like me see this so they can understand what they are really eating. I've learned a new dirty four lettered word.....CORN.

Well, well done movie, packed with important and fascinating information about what we eat, where it comes from, and what it means for our health, the economy and our future. Unveils the problem in its complex and gory details but also gives you an out -- how we can, and some already do, eat outside that system, in a way that is healthier for us and for the planet. Important eye opening movie for everyone to watch.

While the message this movie promotes is vital and everyone should stand up and say "no more", I thought it didn't go far enough. McDonalds and Walmart could change the food industry overnight if they would stand up for what is ethical and not for what makes them the most amount of money. I strongly believe in profit, but I think you need to put the health of a nation before obscene amounts of profit. I think this movie should have focused more on those two giant retailers of food.

This is a must-see movie for anyone interested in knowing how the "food" giants are manipulating us into eating their junk. By educating ourselves with REAL food information, we can vote with our feet and supermarket purchases, and effect changes in our eating habits. The health of our nation, and more specifically, each one of us, depends on making these changes asap. Way to go Eric Schlosser and Michael Pollan!

What a fantastic movie!
It highlights the GREED by food manufacturers and the disgraceful practices that they have to produce poor quality food for the American consumer.
If you are concerned about being able to eat healthy food, take a look at this movie and learn what to avoid. It will open your eyes to the corruption and greed by those responsible for providing the country's food supply.

I was already a proponent of local, organic food and I thought I was pretty aware, but I learned a LOT from this doc. While we were sleeping, our food source was hijacked by corporations who are only looking out for their own interests.
This is not just about food - it's about health, healthcare costs, and social justice. As usual, the less money you make, the more you're suffering from the current system. But there's good news. We still have power & a big part of our power is knowledge. Start by seeing this film, then don't stop until we've made things right.

I went to see this film and expected to be blown away and I was. Not only was it a showcase of the horrors of the food industry but it was surprisingly objective. About the only disappointment was that there was too little time to show some of the other horrors of where your food comes from. This is obviously not the fault of the filmmakers. It made an immediate impact on me but as another reviewer pointed out the target audience was nowhere to be found. The ones in the audience were mostly affluent, white, and educated who are already making an effort to make a difference. This needs to be shown in poor or minority areas where eyes will definitely b opened.

I read Michael Pollans Omnivore's Dilemma before seeing this movie. Of course he's in it and a lot of the data comes from that book as well as Fast Food Nation. The nice thing was that when you put these things in a movie format you humanize it. It's hard to picture miles and miles of stockyards or chicken houses where there isn't any room for a chicken to even walk.
The other thing I'd like to say about the movie is it wasn't built like a Michael Moore movie where you're very clear of the goal (to change your mind) the whole time. It's fairly objective about a lot of things and sometimes you think "Man we need to change" and other times it's just informative.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It was upsetting enough that the movie was only being shown in two obscure theaters in all of NYC, but what made it worse was that I was the only person of color watching a movie that was largely impacting the African American and Latino community. Preaching to the converted and to those that are most likely to have the capital to provide themselves with better food options, I was extremely sad to say the least. The movie IS A MUST SEE. (However, i would read the Omnivores Dilemma as well) Much like Michael Moores Sicko, I wonder why I even live in this country anymore.

Holistic look at all the issues surrounding the industrialization of food. Excellent job communicating complexity thru the organization and graphics of the film. Not just an emotionally manipulative piece but a thoughtfully composed introduction to the discussion. Didn’t linger on details or get too technical, etc. Wish they would have spent 5 more minutes talking about what we can do as consumers and what we can look forward to in the future. Especially loved the orangic/free range farmer and his vision for farming. It was inspiring and admirable.

I was worried this movie would be too crunchy/activist for my thoughtfully conservative boyfriend, and the smug audience members (making embarrassing guffaws at the wrong moments) and slightly overwrought music didn't help my case, but ultimately the (mostly) very normal and relatable farmers and industry workers interviewed built a solid case and convinced even him that industrial food is hurting large groups of people (like "those who eat") and is anything but the work of the free market. I still get choked up thinking about the farmer who couldn't afford his day in court to defend himself against Monsanto and who asks us to demand high-quality food. And at the very least, this movie never gets boring.
