Sacha Baron Cohen fails to deliver on this one and leaves you with the feeling that he's mean-spirited and bereft of any insights into the people he tangles up in his warped storyline. The theme seems little more than a chance for him to focus the camera on his private parts. It feels like he's the ignorant one rather than his victims, unlike when Borat rubbed the MidWest's nose in it's own repulsive prejudices. My girlfriend, who is African-American herself, was in hysterics as Bruno appears on a Texas-based chat show with an African-American audience as asingle parent of an adopted black baby, OJ. Overall I found the movie gratuitous and unpleasant without any really redeeming features. A miss.

The movie was extremely funny although parts make you feel uncomfortable it was better than the TV show Ali-G (Bruno segments).
Sacha is a wonderful actor it takes great chutzpah to get into some of these situations that he does. Parts are staged parts are real interviews/interactions with people in the "real world" and the inability for the audience to differentiate between the two shows how creative the movie is.
This fell slightly short of Borat but not by much. You will leave the theatre laughing and feeling guilty that you think it is so funny.

First of all, this film was absolutely halarious! It was better than Borat on every level. The Bruno Character was better-played, the situations we're more ridiculous (and dangerous) and Sacha Baron Cohen's resolve to stay in character was unbelievable. I laughed until it hurt (about 96 minutes continuously). I asked myself "Is this really happening?" about ten times during the movie. Amazing!
Disregard the poor reviews given by all of the puritanical homophobes here, unless you're a puritanical homophobe. In that case you have no business going to a movie like this in the first place. This movie pushes the limits of what is acceptable in our culture. Some people are far to closed-minded to appreciate that. Amazing movie!!!!!!

This movie was just boring-the only funny parts of the movie were in the previews. I wasn't shocked by anything in the movie-it was what I expected as far as shock value. I am a fan of Ali G and Borat, and of Sacha Baron Cohen in general. However, this movie is not up to his previous standards. Part of what made Borat so funny was that so much of it wasn't staged. Cohen would set up a situation and then watch people deal with it. That was fascinating and hilarious, though sometimes extremely awkward. In Bruno, the scenes are nearly all staged or scripted and the humor is more crude than funny. Cohen repeatedly emphasizes the "rear-entry" gag, using it to push the buttons of squeamish straight folks in the audience. I did laugh a few times, but most of the funny stuff is in the trailers. Do yourself a favor: Save your ten bucks and watch Jerry Springer at home.

This movie was just as outrageous as I had expected. Sacha Baron Cohen is brilliant, hillarious and extremely brave. I found the ignorant reaction to some of his stunts by some people (the couselor, the cage fighting audience, the martial arts instructor) very disturbing so I guess that was the point. Even though it was a bit sophmoric at times and definitely full of shock value, sometimes all you really need is a good laugh and this will definitely do it.

I guess I went in expecting to see something a bit better, given that Borat was hilarious. The film has its blow out funny moments, followed by Blah ones.
I laughed a lot, but the actual lack of consistency on the humor level made me check my watch about 6 times.

I was definitely that "loud, laughing girl" in the theater. I had really been looking forward to Bruno, but then when it came out on Friday I heard some pretty awful reviews, so I was disappointed, and I think I went into the movie on Saturday night with lowered expectations. Once I got to the movie on Saturday night, I ended up laughing from start to finish. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Yes, it's very crude and there are lots of "visual shockers"...but I ultimately laughed a lot and I admire Sasha for his fearlessness...that guy has got a brass set!

Not Cohen's best effort. Having followed Ali G and then seeing Borat, this movie is forced humor at its worst. The flick shows flashes of Cohen's Borat-esque genius, but the majority of the scenes are centered on uncomfortable male-on-male bedroom situations. The crowd (mostly 16-25yr old males and females) appeared confused at the end of the movie, not knowing how to react to what they just witnessed. I would highly recommend spending your $11 elsewhere.

In response to some of the previous reviews: I knew what I was getting into when I went to this movie. I was not offended by it either. I was a huge fan of Borat, and was hoping to see a movie that either met or exceeded the comedy of that movie. However, I was completely disappionted. Sure, the movie was outrageous, but it was not funny at all. The funniest parts of this movie were definitely in the previews (and obviously were the only parts they could show on TV). No other scenes even came close to making me laugh. If you've seen the trailors for this movie, that's all you need.

I have been a fan of Cohen for many years and appreciate off-color humor. I laughed hard throughout most of the film. It is a shame that the opening montage (2-3 minutes mainly of butt insertions) and, later, the lengthy extreme closeup of a flopping male organ will keep much of its potential audience from ever seeing it.
The rest of the film was still off-color and shocking enough to cause laughs and make this film as popular as Borat. I will recommend anyone I know to wait to see it on DVD where there likely will be an edited version to watch.

I laughed so hard my friend kept asking if I was ok. Very funny! I'm not straight, so maybe I'm responding to the movie from that perspective. The black baby, the stationary bike, the hunters and Paula Abdul sitting on Mexicans! The movie makes fun of straight reactions to non-straight relations, so I am not surprised that most of these straight reviewers didn't like it. Shocking at times and some scenes fall flat, but this is very different from anything else you'll see this sumer. If you want the same, go see Transformers.

I loved Borat and actually pre-purchased tickets for Bruno. It was perhaps the most awful movie I have ever seen since I walked out of Even Cowgirls get the Blues in 1994. Fine on gratuitiousness but it did not even have a point.

Clearly the people posting the "disgusting" and "vulgar" review notes should have been in the crowd of the "fight" scene near the end of the movie. The reason you are so disturbed is the exact reason this movie was made. Homophobia is a real problem in this country. Sasha Baron Cohen played these people so well over such a silly fear. You should open your mind a little. It's funny beaucase it's real... That being said, this movie was laugh-out-loud funny. Borat was clever and slick. Bruno is more like a punch in the face that leaves you saying, "I'm not quite sure what that was, but my face hurts from laughing so hard!" Bravo!
