I found the movie shallow and using cheap humor. It it's staged, the scenes are not very funny. If it's not staged and is using people's candid reactions, it's offensive in my opinion. To laugh at people's candid reactions is un-evolved humor. Reminds me of the humor of 1920, it was funny to watch someone slip over a banana peel. I think we are not there anymore.

I thought it was wonderfully disturbing. It was great watching people walk out of the theater! He pushed the envelope! There were some Borat overtones, but not too much. Just come with an open mind. I think Sacha Cohen is a genius. If you appreciate Stern, Kaufmann, Pryor, and Kinnison, you'll appreciate Cohen. Definitely anti establishment!

This was probably the most disappointing movie I've seen in years (topped only by "home made"). Sasha took his real talents and threw them to the wind. Woodstock never bothered me; nor do open feelings or expressions of love of any kind. This movie made a mockery of the population it depicted. . It was not worth the price of admission. Sacha went way out on a limb on this one, there are a few sceans that are uncomfortable to watch, but if you have a sarcastic sense of humor. and just like to watch people being compleatly demoralized then this is the movie for you. also it does give a good little look at the human nature of some people. I feel bad for Sacha Baron Cohen. I really enjoyed Borat. It was original and hilarious to me. So when I went to see this with my gf, we were hoping it would gives a good time like Borat. Well I started to feel like I was watching a very lightly censored male/male adult movie. After 20 minutes, we decided it wasn't funny any more. So we left and the theater gave us free passes to come back. I was actually laughing more at how terribly bad this movie started out and that Cohen will get some of my money.

O.K. either you'll think its hysterical or you'll think its in really bad taste. (sort of like Howard Stern) actually it's both, mostly very funny, although I do agree with a review I read that basically said, the first half is funny because it makes fun of our celebrity obsessed culture, while the second half makes fun of all the stereotypes its mocking by over reinforcing those stereotypes, feels like Sacha Baron Cohen overstepped his focus here, has a 'soulless" feeling to it, so while it was very funny, it wasn't sustained funny because there's no plot, just a bunch of funny scenes, wait for the rental unless your a major fan of SBC..

There is no way it could have even been made even five years ago and I don't think it will be funny five years from now.

Thanks to my fellow top reviewers, I chose not see 'bruno'. My wife however, heard from an acquaintance that it was funny, so she went to see it. She walked out after thirty minutes and said that it was a same-gender male smut movie and wasn't funny. Her words, not mine. I did have to change a couple words to pass the censoring program on this site.

I personally loved this movie. Though I think many viewers don't really understand the question being asked in Bruno. SBC has presented us with a character which is so over the top, outrageous and downright ludicrous in his intimate tastes and personality, that through Bruno he's asking his audience do you really believe this is how non-straight people act?? If the answer is no, you'll find this movie hilarious. Unfortunately for SBC, for a large segment of the US population, the answer to that question is still a resounding yes....

Bruno in a nutshell: Don't waste your time and money seeing this movie. Bruno should have been rated NC-17 rather than R; I almost near got sick seeing this movie. In fact, two people who were sitting to the right of me at the theater walked out because of the graphic content from what I believe. If I were to compare Borat to Bruno, Borat had crude content but not on the same level as Bruno. Bruno is definitely and absolutely not a family friendly movie period.

Bruno was not as funny as Borat, however it pushes limits further than the latter film did. You'll either love or hate Bruno, there's no in between. There is absolutely no reason to see this movie if you have access to internet pornography. There's no story here, just a collection of real and fake "candid camera-style" shock episodes strung together by the flimsiest of story lines. There's not a likeable character in the movie. This movie was just bad. There were a few very funny parts, but most of the good material had already been released in clips and the trailers. Don't waste your time, it's not a good movie.

I can see how the intent was to make all of the homophobes look like idiots, but SBC seemed more like the idiot in this film. This movie is a jaw-dropping shock-fest and I am AMAZED that it is rated-R. I have no idea how it slid through without a NC-17 rating! It really should've been NC-17, because no one needs to drag their kids into this film. I love SBC's ideas, but I can not recommend this movie to anyone. If you want to see lewd behavior and lots of male nudity then go for it, but don't say I didn't warn you. You will walk out of this film feeling slightly yucky, violated, confused, and disappointed.

This movie was fantastic, being a G.A.Y. guy means I understood a lot of the humor throughout the movie, and how much of the general population reacts to extremes. Most G.A.Y. people I know, including myself, are nowhere like that, but we sure do get a kick out of watching reactions to stuff like this. I hear a lot of stuff about how people hated it and it was a waste of time and how they didn't want to be there, I just wonder why they didn't just walk out. The movie was rated 'R' for a reason, and those reasons were listed. If you can't read the description, synopsis, or reviews, you DON'T deserve to be able to complain. Go see it, it was great.

This is the BEST movie that I have seen in years! There is something in it for everyone including the hillbillies and closed minded individuals. Everyone is guaranteed a fabulous time!
Don't go alone because this is the type of movie that you will want to share with all of your friends - even if those friends are backwoods beer drinking rednecks!!
I guarantee that you will laugh yout tail off continuously throughout the movie!!
